Over 50’s Orange
The Bays 50s Orange side headed up the M1 to Choice Oval to play Coomera in Round - 1 to start the season this Summer.
To our surprise we got on & started on time with Coomera winning the toss and electing to have a Bat.
We had 6 - New Bay Vets for this Round. Jason Hay - Lee Greenwood - Terry Blacktopp - Sean Harmer - Murray Peirce & Phill Holzinger .

We opened the Bowling with Terry & Macca who bowled great lines restricting Coomera openers run scoring and mounting plenty of pressure in the middle .
Then it cracked wide open with Macca bowling the opener then picking up Coomera number 3 with a fantastic leg side stumping by Lee Greenwood.
Macca finished with 2/19 & Terry 1/26.
The pressure kept mounting and Coomera battled hard to stay in the game with fantastic bowling by Sean Harmer 2/20 , Rob Laing 0/15 , Jason Hay was extremely unlucky with two sitters dropped behind the stumps bowling with some good steam under the difficult conditions finishing with 0/18 .
Then the Captain through the Ball to Bobby Menzies to bowl his very gentle off Spin into the breeze & what a godsend it was with Bobby having a day out on a hat trick & finishing with 4/21 and if the Captain hardened ducked at short Midwicket after Bobby bowling a long hop he would have finished with 5 😜🏏👍
He couldn’t wait to get to work on Monday to give one of his colleagues some pointers in the craft of spin bowling into the wind ( Travis Harker )
Coomera were bowled out for 123.
The Bay opened up with Sean & Rob looking solid till Rob got a peach and walked back for 3 , entry Jimmy Phillips and he and Sean pushed things along nicely till Jimmy cut one to Slip out for 22 , Muzz can and went quickly pulling one to square leg , great catch.
Sean went next as the wicket was starting to get lower & lower.
This bought the two big hitters to the crease Bobby Menzies and Jason Hay who really got us over the line with Jas falling just before passing Coomera total on 25 & Bobby finishing on 20 not out.
Great Team effort first up with the Bay finishing up 5/124 in the 31st over taking a comfortable win .
Looking forward to our 1st Bays 50s Orange v 50s Navy local derby in round - 2 on Sunday the 27th on Sam Loxton Number - 1 .
Please get down to the Bay and Support the old fellas & watch a great game of cricket played in the spirit all cricket games should be played in.

A big danke to everyone for making Oktoberfest a spectacular success on Saturday night
In a story seemingly ripped from Ripley's Believe It Or Not, a Schumacher won the meat tray on the night.
Great to see the old club pumping with life and atmosphere.

We use and recommend Fixtura for all of our graphics for fixtures, match results, top 5 batting and bowling as well as the ladders. To use this asset provider all games must be entered by Sunday 11:00pm. All graphic reports are then generated ready for release for social media. This is why live scoring is so important to use instead of having to go back and input. Unfortunately if stats are not entered by this time the game results won't be published.
