The Bays Junior Rep stars

Three Bay girls have spent the week battling it out in Toowoomba in the QJC u15 Girls Southern Challenge. A couple of pictures here of Catey (Gold Coast), Tarnia Elvy (BEARS) and Lucy Logan (BEARS). Tarnia and Lucy were a huge part of the Beth Mooney Cup-winning BEARS team that went through undefeated to win the carnival. Catey and the Gold Coast team finished 4th overall.

 Go the Bay Girls!

Two Bay boys also competed in the U12's in Radin Nawroz and in the U16's in Morgan Carter representing the QJC Gold Coast Dolphins.

Both sides performed well in the groups stages reaching the grand final with both Radin and Morgan Playing key roles in the teams success. Both teams finished 2nd overall. Congrats Boys!

The Aldred Bat Raffle

During the LMS World Cup we ran a raflle for a custom made Aldred which was hand crafted by Paul Aldred. The lucky winner was Josh Bakes from Towoomba. A Big Shout Out to Matty Cunningham and George Street Linen for donating the bat.

Thanks Matty

Peak Performance Holiday Camp

Peak Performance Holiday Clinic was superb. Look how many happy faces there was during this photo. These young lads were put through their paces in all facets of the game. The knowledge that has been passed on in these couple of days will be invaluable .

Last Man Stands World Champs

Well, what a week!

The LMS World Champs concluded last week.

Cricketers from all corners of the globe came together and bonded over the love of the game

The cash registers never stopped dinging. They drank like Bon Scott.

For a small club, we've always punched above our weight.

But this was a difficult event to pull off. The humidity was feral and the rain at times torrential.

Thank you to our volunteers who gave up their time during the week.

They even brought leafblowers from home to help dry the pitches to make sure games went ahead.

And thanks to our groundsmen who as usual produced superb decks for our guests.

A Herculean effort from everyone involved

Words From Senior Club Coach Ben Johnson

Hi Seagulls,

Trust we are all well and preparing for a magnificent Xmas and New Year with loved ones.

I just wanted to take a brief snapshot at our season to date as we head into the break at the halfway mark of the season.

As you know this season is our first of a few rebuilding our great club on and off the field. Whilst results haven't been where we would like, I am proud of the commitment, attitude and enthusiasm of our playing group. The lads have been stepping up and taking ownership for their performances.

I have seen some great personal growth from players along with growth as a playing group across our 3 top grades. Not to mention some of our young guns getting opportunities to step outside their comfort zones and challenge themselves in higher grades. Also some performances have been encouraging where momentum is now building and we are positioned for a strong second half of the season where 1st  grade will be pushing for their 1st  victory whilst 2nd  grade will continue to move up the ladder building on their momentum leading into the break. 3rd  grade also have shown some promise and ticker. make no mistake we are here to play and represent the club with respect as we are Seagulls.

There are a few mentions I would like to point out where these players have been leading from the front:

1st  Grade

Rhys Howarth is in the top 15 batsmen on GC and Josh Cox top 30. We have Freddie setting the bowling world alight with only 5 matches under his belt he has taken 12 wickets already at the best average of 8.17 and in top 6 bowlers. Ben Houghton has also chipped in with 5 wickets along with Morgan Carter and Ben Canning also with 5 a piece.

2nd  Grade

Patrick Brown is leading the way with the Bat scoring 275 runs @ 55 and 2nd  in league. Jawid behind Patrick with 130 runs @43. What is promising to see is Nayeef, new to the club this year leading the way 17 wickets @ 14.9 and 7th  in the league closely followed by one of our young brigade Stephen Watson 15 wickets @17.53 and sits in the top 10 bowlers for the league in 2s awesome effort from these two men.

3rd  Grade

Another of our young lads batting top of the order Jed Sessarago scoring 129 runs @21.9. With our bowling we have 2 young guns with Jake Shultz taking 7 wickets in just 4 matches in 3s at the lowest average of 4.43. Jake was promoted from 6th  grade recently and hasn't disappointed. Jake is supported well by Will Secombe also with 7 wickets, Andrew Gross, Stephen Wolfe and Nic McConnell all with 5 a piece.

The outlook for the Bay is looking up as we have found some momentum and improved our execution of a game plan. Please continue to be patient, the lads are working hard and the rewards are just around the corner. We are building some great depth through our junior ranks and also have some wonderful experience from our 3 UK players in Ben Houghton, Freddie Fowler and Nathan Barnwell, so the light is bright at the Bay as we push for success in half 2 of season 2024/2025. Keep to the path lads and remember Rome wasn't built in a day. We win together, we lose together, we play together, WE ARE ONE, WE ARE THE BAY!

Kind Regards

Ben Johnson
