Match Report Bay vs Helensvale 10/01/26
Arriving at Helensvale reminded us all of how hot this place can get during the middle of the day, so it was important that our captain tosses well and with no surprise we lost the toss and were in the field first. Opening the bowling with Suranga and Ben, we were off to a great start having them 2-14 with Suranga and Ben claiming a wicket each in the 4th and 5th over. The remainder of their top order batted slowly until they lost their third wicket at 87 around the 30th over. Regular wickets fell but their run rate kept climbing and eventually they batted the overs 9-193, which looked under par. Well bowled to Freddie, who got 5-24, stand out of the bowlers today Those 193 runs included 18 penalty runs for over rate which was a combination of being slow in between overs and Helensvale deliberately wasting time. We also dropped a few catches, which cost us about 30 runs as one of their bats made a few quickly at the end. Opening the batting with Jaydn and Talha, we got off to a flying start, losing Jaydn (45) at 1-62, and Tahla (51) at 3-113. At this point in the chase it looked under control and we would just need to cruise at under 3 runs an over to win, but that was not the case. Losing regular wickets and no real scoreboard tick, we lost 8-23, and lost the game in the 29th over. A very disappointing loss, one we will have to look back on and really learn from our mistakes so we can get better as a team.

2nd Grade

After all of the merriment that corresponds with the silly season, Round 13 of the competition signalled the start of a new calendar year and the beginning of the second half of the GC Premier Division 2 Season. As expected, Phil and co, had Loxton 1 looking spectacular for the Bay 2s home fixture against Helensvale. Sitting a match and a half clear at the top of the table, we all suspected that a win against a quality opponent would go a long way to reaffirming that the Bay 2s mean business in 25/26. A brief pitch inspection revealed a green but very hard pitch which looked to be an absolute belter. Assuming that any juice the deck was likely to offer might only last the first hour or two, I won the toss and elected to bowl.
Stevie and George paired to commence proceedings in 2026 and after a tight over from each, Stevie 'weekly' Watson (1-27 from 6) picked up the prized scalp of Benji Lee to a catch swallowed by Jawid on the boundary. George Edney (1/35 from 6) took a key wicket whilst pushing up-breeze from the southern end but largely bowled without luck. Bipolar Billing replaced George at the Southern end and well and truly looked to be 'back'. Austin's whippy action and probing lines were too much for the Helensvale middle order as he claimed the outstanding figures of 2-8 from 3 overs with a snick-off and a brilliant catch taken at mid-on. Tom Gossett replaced Stevie at the Northern end as we looked to apply the Bay Squeeze and whilst he didn't pick up a wicket this week, Tom was only taken for 14 runs from his 8 overs. With an over to go before drinks and being two overs behind the over rate, I threw the ball to Jack Hocart to see if he could extract any turn out of Phil's grassy belter. Hoc duly obliged by claiming the all-important skippers wicket on the stroke of drinks to leave the opposition well and truly Helens-flailing at 5-81. I (1-14 from 5), paired with Hoc in an attempt to get the over-rate back on track. As the runs began to dry up and I burgled overs at the Northern end, Hoc was regularly picking up scalps from the Southern end as he finished with excellent figures of 4-22 (8). With the final wicket falling to a run out, Helensvale finished their innings all out for 135. This was a fantastic bowling effort from the Bay 2s attack who really stuck to the plan of being ruthless and un-forgiving when on top of the game.
Lachie Creed and Nathan Proctor partnered to kick off the Bay 2s reply. Sadly, Creedy didn't trouble the scorers and was back in the sheds (1-4). Man of the moment, Hoc replaced Creedy and while Proctor slashed and missed at ball-after-ball outside the off stump, Hoc simply did his thing. As the pair approached a much-needed 50 run partnership, Nathan succumbed and was out trying to sweep one of the Helensvale seamers. In what was a scratchy start, Proctor dragged it back and finished with an invaluable 30(60) that featured five 4s and really set a platform for our innings. A slight shuffle of the order saw Sam Heathwood replace Proctor. The quality and discipline of the Helensvale attack should be noted here, with our score at only 2-58 at the 20 over mark. Upon resumption of play, Hoc and Sammy began to gradually steer the Bay 2s towards safety with a steady 63 run partnership. A brief spew followed by a raise of the bat signalled a yet another classy 50 for Hoc as momentum moved away from Helensvale. Cool and calm as ever, Sammy and Hoc ran well between the wickets and frustrated the fielders before Sam was out for 21(45) with the score ate 3-115. Requiring 20 from our final 8 overs, Jawid replaced Sam but wasn't able to make a big impact before being dismissed for 5(8). A golden duck followed Jawid which left it to Billing and Hoc to seal the deal. Hoc closed out our innings with a boundary to finish 67*(95) with Billing 4*(4) at the other end.
Despite taking the best part of 38 overs to chase down what was a merge total, this match always felt like it was ours. We spoke about being ruthless before the start of play and I'm happy to say that we did not give what is a pretty strong side in Helensvale, a sniff at any point. Early wickets set the tone, we squeezed through the middle overs to ensure a low total to chase and when we batted and we toiled against some good bowling without getting impatient. This was a good all-round win to kick of 2026 and keep the Bay 2s W Train chugging along as we look ahead to an away match next week against a strong Mudgeeraba.

3rd Grade

3rd grades first game of 2026 against Burleigh in Elanora. With a couple of key players missing, including the skipper Jared Austin and top run scorer Chris Bartlett. Graham short stepping up to captain the side, won the toss and sent Burleigh in, as there was a nice green covering of grass on the pitch. Openers Cam Davies and Josh Hoare made early inroads with both openers dismissed early. The next 2 were allowed to settle though, through some dropped chances and questionable umpire decisions. Will Altass and Kunal Thakur were then able to make breakthroughs, dismissing both established batters. Thackur with a nice spell of 1 for 21 from 8 overs in his debut for the club. A well laid plan, combined Cam Davies' safe pair of hands bought Jake Schultz his first wicket for the year. From there, we were unable to take any more wickets, as Burleigh stumbled through to 190 for 6 from their 40 overs. Will Altass the only bowler to take more than 1, finished with 2 for 35 from 5 overs. Brendan Roberts and Josh Hoare opened up again, with previous totals in mind, 191 seemed like a formidable target, especially without maestro Chris Bartlett in the order! Those fears were unfounded though, as Brendan Roberts and Josh Hoare went about their work, ruthlessly dismantling the Burleigh bowling attack! Brendos pull shot was fed a healthy diet of pace, medium pace and off spin as he made his way to an incredible 107 from just 92 balls, as Josh Hoare played understudy with a solid 56*'from 77 combined for an opening stand of 187 in just 28 overs. Brendo was run out 4 short of the target. Taika then finished the game with a 4 over mid off from his second ball, securing a bonus point win, and extending our unbeaten run.

4th grade navy Clarky wins the toss & we bowl first. First 5 overs werent a great start but clarky comes on & gets a wicket first over.. Wahab then picks up 3 in an awesome spell to keep the runs down.. Then a few little partnership happened which gave them a decent total of 219... Ruddy got the last 2 wickets on his first 2 balls Wahab, Hamad & Ruddy all got a couple of wickets Batting Jamie phillips batted smart & got 60 & put us in a good spot with the bat Jim came out & took the game on with 63 off 49 whilst ruddy & clarky just stuck it out with him & kept ticking along at the other end.. We won on the last ball for our 2nd win of the year
4th Grade Orange

Rd 13 4s orange vs queens
The new year sees us become the home warriors as we start our home stretch to finish the season.
The first of these home games was against Queens,
We arrived at Loxton 3 to find a moonscape as the council had decided to core the oval a few days beforehand and there were lots of holes & sand on parts of the ground, oh well was still better than travelling to whoop whoop again!!
First order of business was winning the toss!! Thats something different so hopefully this was the change of fortunes that we needed to fire up our season,
Of course we had a bat first, with Birdy & James Munro striding to the wicket we were full of hope and excitement to start to second half of our season,
After a couple of really slow bouncers that went way over his head James latched onto another short ball and whacked it for 4 and away we go… unfortunately it didn’t last long as he gloved yet another very short one next ball and was caught behind 1/4, that soon became 2/8 when Josh smacked one straight to mid wicket, Not the start we wanted, Will Secombe came in to join Birdy and the pair put on a partnership taking us to 37 before Will was bowled,
3/37 things weren’t quite going to plan,
Next in was Wolfy coming off his century he was hoping to break his cycle of good score bad score but this unfortunately continued when he was out for 7, things weren’t great but we still had Birdy there doing his thing with Jamie Lennix joining him we were desperate for a partnership…. And the boys started one and at the 28over drinks break we were 4/85 so we had some work to do and just as it looked like the partnership was about to flourish Birdy got out for a well made 44 off 51 balls 4 4s & 2 6s,
At this point the skipper Col who was resting comfortably on his chair with no intention of batting today as he was nursing a bad shoulder from lets say a mishap over the break, made the decision he was going to put the pads on, Chris Castle had joined Jamie but this didn’t last long as Jamie was the next to go for 12 with the score on 6/91 we were screaming for some resistance and a decent partnership,
This brought Col to the wicket who managed to knock it around and get Chris back on strike effectively allowing chris to play some of his initiative shots especially his power sweeps and the boys took the score to 124 before Chris (20) played over one and was bowled so yet again a promising partnership was broken, now 7 down we really needed our tail to work with Col and get us to a defendable score, next in was Nate Foenander and he did a great job making a quick 12 in yet another small partnership 8/149
Jack Castle(5) next in doing more of the same with a 22 run partnership 9/171 when our last batter Andy Foenander joined Col for our last stand we had just 4 overs to go but it was important we faced every ball, Col was struggling badly with his shoulder and didn’t have his usual hitting power but was still finding gaps running hard with Andy and finding some boundaries the boys scrambled us to 9/198 Col finished unbeaten on 56 off 49 balls with 4 4s Andy 6no.
It wasn’t the big score we were hoping for but we thought it was competitive and if we bowled well we could get the job done.
Going into the field we knew we needed early wickets were the key and biggest one them was Peter Goodchap who is the leading run scorer in the competition having scored over 700 runs this season we needed him early,
Josh and Birdy started ok but the runs were coming, we thought we had an early wicket when the ball bounced off the kids glove to chris but the umpire gave it not out, it certainly is a bit different having a paid umpire, josh bowled a very good spell with good pace with both batsmen struggling but unfortunately couldn’t get the breakthrough 6 ovs 0/20 was his figures, Birdy also bowled well but unfortunately got some treatment in his last over that blew his figures so he finished 6 ovs 0-46, the change of bowlers certainly helped as Noah McQueen came on and made an immediate impact grabbing the first wicket, a very good catch taken by josh , then Jamie then picked up the big wicket of Goodchap with Birdy taking a good catch on the fence we had them 2/78, unfortunately the next couple of overs were a bit frustrating as we let some good chances go begging by dropping several catches, we went to the drinks break with the game certainly in balance with them 2/96 off 18,
we just needed to take our chances and put some scoreboard pressure on and we were a big chance, unfortunately our catching issue raised its head again as it has all year and we missed opportunities and the game pretty quickly slipped away from us as the Queens batters took toll of some loss bowling at times and quickly chased down the remaining runs by the 30 over mark,
Noah once again bowled a fantastic spell without the reward he deserved & finished with 6ovs 1/35 he did unfortunately like other go for 16 in his last but was a great spell and is having a great year a big wicket haul is just around the corner,
Jamie 4ovs 1/31, James 0/27, Nate 0/15, Will 0/23 all tried hard but was a tough day for our bowlers, unfortunately another disappointing loss after being in a good position we just need to find that last missing piece to our game and we can get our season going chin up boys lets go again next week again at home against Helensvale
Thanks for all the support see you all again next week GO BAY!!

Round 13 & we made the trek to the picturesque retading basin that is Riverstone crossing, Bizza won the toss & decided to bat first. We opened with Conan & Jamie but after the score reached 11 in the second over, Jamie was run out for 3. Next in was Brad, next ball he was bowled, Snitty was next, 2 balls later he was gone, the score now 3/11, the Foxtonians combing for a total of 3 balls & no runs. Cappy was next & after he hit 2 towering 6’s over square leg we thought we were back on track but soon after, he attempted the same shot & was caught, 4/34 the score. Azza joined Conan who had just witnessed 4 of his teammates perish at the other end, he & Azza started to add some respectability to the score taking us to drinks with the score now 4/100. Azza & Conan continued the reserection after drinks until Conan was finally dismissed for 58 from 74, the 2 adding 117 runs after the initial carnage. Bizza joined Azza who was quietly building towards his first ton for the club but not long after Biz was out for a quick 10 from 5 balls with the score 6/177. Fridge joined Azza & the 2 soon had the score above 200 with Fridge dispatching the bowlers to all parts of the ground with Azza quietly building towards the big ton........then, on 99, with cameras ready to record the big achievement, Azz was caught falling 1 short. The cameras were quickly put away & its fair to say Mr. Quinne wasnt thrilled about the outcome with firstly his bat then his helmet becoming projectiles, none of his teammates were safe! Anyway the game went on & young Quaid joined Fridge who’s demolition job hadn’t finished with him finishing the innings on 53 not out from 19 balls, including six 4’s & four 6’s with Quaid not out at the other end, we finished with 7/257, a decent outcome considering our start. Our turn with the ball, we opened with Grossy & Duane & due to their unorthadox batting Grossy for the first time this year failed to get us off to a good start with their 2 openers playing some interesting shots not found in the textbook. Their first wicket finally fell with the score on 56, a runout, & its fair to say the tantrum that followed with the outgoing batsman was the only exciting part for us with their yawn fest lasting 36 overs, not even trying to get our score. They managed to bat out their 36 overs, falling 85 runs short finishing on 9/174. The wicket takers Cappy 1/11 from 4, Schuey 1/20 from 4, Azza 1/31 from 5, Fridge 2/21 from 5, Conan 2/16 from 3 & youg Quaid, who bowled with fire, even unleshing a few quick short balls which surprised their batters & us, finished with 1/21 from his 5 overs.
Cheers JH.

6th Grade

We travelled to D'arcy Doyle to take on Mudgeerabah. We won the toss and elected to bat considering it was in sweltering heat. James and Haz opened the batting and did extremely well getting us off to a flying start. Haz hit two beautiful sixes before finally falling as James continued to tee off like he was at the golf range. James fell for a well made 50 and his first for the Bay. Congratulations! Aidan and I chipped in with a few but fell early but it was Coyney that proved to be the backbone of the innings yet again going on to score a magnificent 66 off only 37 balls mind you! The tail all contributed small scores but Arran hit a great better than a run a ball 17* to drag us to 223 all out in the final over. We thought that we were 50 short of a par score with the boundaries being quite small, but we had full confidence in our bowlers to do the job. King and Haz opened the bowling. Haz only bowled 3 up front (1/13). King bowled 6 straight and ended with figures (1/17) that set us up to really squeeze the opposition batters. Lachy and Arran took us through the middle overs and continued the immense pressure. Lachy fielded about half of his own balls and ended 5 overs 0/22. Az bowled arguably the best I've seen him with about half of his balls being absolutely smashed into MD like it was the test match cricket board game. Exceptional fielding by MD as he really helped minimise the runs. Coyney had a short spell but didn't have the same effect we've come to know. Haz and myself bowled the death overs with the batters trying to put everything over the fence. They succeeded a couple of times off my bowling, but not our Giant Killer! Haz closed out the game like a pro that's just shelling peas. His figures of 3/30 against quality batting was exceptional. We kept them to 9/174 and won the game convincingly. I have to mention the display of our Bay HEART as Geoff Watson chose not to run out George when he fell running for 2 and rolled towards to crease like a snake that had just been run over. Great example Watto! See you all next week!

Unlocking FrogBox Highlights with PlayHQ and LillyPad
This season, the Runaway Bay Cricket Club is excited to bring more of our cricket to life through FrogBox live streaming and highlight packages. We’ll be aiming to stream as many games as possible across Premier Cricket, Veterans, Juniors, and Women’s cricket, showcasing the talent and spirit of our club to family, friends, and supporters everywhere.
To make the most of this technology, we need the help of our scorers. The key lies in how we use PlayHQ alongside FrogBox’s highlight program, LillyPad. Here’s how it works: When live scoring in PlayHQ, you’ll notice a button on the screen labelled “Bowler Running In”*. This button should be pressed just before—or right as—the bowler begins their approach. Doing this triggers the recording of that particular ball, ensuring any exciting moment (like a wicket, a six, or a boundary) is captured for our highlight reel. By consistently pressing this button, our scorers help create accurate and exciting highlight packages that not only celebrate individual performances but also promote our teams and club culture. With everyone’s contribution, we can build a library of memorable moments that players and supporters will be able to watch back and enjoy for years to come. Let’s work together to make this season one to remember—both on and off the field.

Over 40’s Div 2

Rd 7 40s Div 2 vs Broadbeach
So our first game of 2026 found us playing at Neptune oval against top side Broadbeach in a top of the table clash of the only 2 undefeated sides, so big game!!
The ground itself looked in great condition even if the boundary ropes were a long way back for us old blokes… the pitch had an interesting look bit patchy but looked ok,
The toss didn’t go our way but Broadbeach sent us in to bat which we weren’t upset about,
Starting the innings for us was Lee Greenwood & Conan Dunning, the bowling early was extremely tight and something that became very apparent early on was the fielding ability and speed of Broadbeach their side was a lot younger and more mobile then us!! We found out later that they had 3 guys who had turned 40 this season and quite a few mid 40s guys compared to us having most 50s guys & a couple of 40s boys not ideal haha
we were keen for the challenge & give our best to represent our great club!!
Sorry about that back to our batting!! So Lee & Conan battled hard early getting through the new ball and seeing off the opening bowlers, the tight bowling keeping us to 0/25 off 8 overs then a change of bowling bringing their best bowler into the attack the tall left armer Andy Sandilands who made in impact taking the first wicket bowling Conan for 18, 1/30 he repeated the dose doing the the same to Lee(12) soon after with another great yorker,
Hamad’s stay was as always entertaining with a run a ball 14 hitting 3 boundaries before he to departed, 3/47 in the 13th over we needed to get moving, Chipper was next to go for 6 followed by Jason hay soon after leaving us 5/62 off 16 and in a lot of trouble,
bizza joined Trav and the boys started to build a partnership and put some pressure back on the Broady Bowlers, at the drinks break we were 5/82 and starting to head in the right direction, this continued after the break with Bizza really stepping it up and hitting some great shots including a big bomb he reached his 50 in just 36 balls hitting 8 4s & 1 6 a fantastic innings that certainly got our innings moving, their partnership of 59 his retirement at 5/121 brought Clarky to the wicket unfortunately he couldn’t continue what bizza had been doing, but then nobody could, Clarky fell to a suspicious catch at long on well suspicious to Clarky lol, bad luck mate there had been some by-play between Bizz & Clarky their winter cricket teammate in Amit Bhasin during the week, bad luck Clarky but 1-0 to Amit,
At 6/134 off 32 needing to push on,
But unfortunately Critto(1) & Duane(4) came and went 8/153, next in was skipper Col who is nursing a crook shoulder, Trav had been battling away trying to keep the innings together but unfortunately fell in the final over for a well made 41 off 79 with 4 4s this brought bizza back to the wicket who had been chomping at the bit to get back out there but unfortunately in trying to hit the first ball back to Burleigh he hit it straight and was caught & Bowled by guess who? U guessed it Amit 2-0, bad luck boys better luck next time with that one, this ended our innings at 161 with col 2 no,
Hard to gauge if it was good or par score i guess we had to wait and see we certainly wanted more but if we bowled well we were definitely in the game,
After lunch we took to the field to attempt to defend our total,
Jason Hay & Shuey opened the bowling the pitch was playing a few tricks one end bouncing and holding up a bit and other keeping low, Jason didn’t have a lot of luck early length was very crucial at his end, Shuey had the end which was a bit variable and staying down and he adjusted to it and bowled extremely well, unfortunately a chance went down off there gun opener Sunny which proved to be costly as he went on to play a great innings retiring 51off 50,
Shuey finished 7 ov 1 mdn 2/28 and when u consider he went for 16 off 2 of those overs due to some edges his spell was without doubt our best bowler.
Hamad come on after Jason and managed to grab a wicket with a great stumping by Lee which gave us a chance if we could keep taking wickets 3/62 after 13 overs,
The problem we had was the run rate we couldn’t seem to slow it down even when trav came into the attack which was unusual,
Broadbeach was 3/113 at the drinks break, so we certainly needed to take some wickets and quickly but unfortunately that didn’t happen,
we tried 8 different bowlers on the day with little joy for most,
with a couple of hitters in the target was reached quickly taking just 5 overs so an early drink for us,
Broadbeach are the benchmark in this grade with alot of players in the right age group and still playing high level cricket,
That said not much went right for us on the day having some very sore boys didn’t help and basically having an off day, our first loss for the year isn’t going to hurt us and with our last 3 games all being at home we will bounce back and get back on track,
Thanks for having interest in our game and see you all in a couple of weeks when we home against Logan Village,
GO BAY!!!

Over 40’s Div 3

Runaway Bay Over 40 Div 3 undone after promising start at Aussielec Oval
Peirce and Phillips build a platform before Bay are skittled and outgunned in Round 7
Runaway Bay Over 40 Div 3 10/100 vs Palm Beach Over 40 Div 2 2/105
Resilience under pressure defined Runaway Bay Over 40 Div 3’s afternoon at Sam Loxton Oval, even as the game swung decisively away from them in the second half. Sent in after winning the toss, Bay’s top order fought for a foothold on a surface offering enough for the bowlers. Jim Phillips countered neatly for 22, working the gaps to steady things after two early departures, while Murray Peirce’s 26 gave the innings its most assured passage, mixing watchful defence with firm strokes through the off side. Around them, starts from others could not be extended and a cluster of wickets left Bay dismissed for 100, a total that reflected patches of control but not quite enough depth through the middle and lower order. With ball in hand, Bay responded with discipline and a clear plan. Darren Redmayne set the tone in a tight opening spell of 1/8 (5.0), locking down one end and forcing mistakes as pressure built. Support came from a committed attack and sharp work in the field, with chances taken cleanly and energy sustained in the ring as they searched for a way back. The chase was ultimately hauled in with eight wickets to spare, yet Bay’s day carried enough positive threads to build on: a pair of composed contributions from Phillips and Peirce at the top, Redmayne’s control with the new ball, and a fielding effort that held its standards even as the result slipped away.
Runaway Bay’s innings was anchored by Murray Peirce with 26 and Jim Phillips with 22, before the side was bowled out for 100. In defence, Darren Redmayne impressed with a tight new-ball spell of 1/8 (5.0), supported by energetic work in the field despite an eventual eight-wicket defeat.

Women's Navy Team vs Coomera: Match Report
On a scorching, windless morning that could fry an egg on the pitch, the Women's Navy Team squared off against Coomera for their first post-Christmas/New Year match. The squad may have been carrying a bit of a festive hangover, but spirits were high as everyone rocked up ready to play. Although we lost the toss, fortune favoured us with the preferred outcome, giving us a chance to set the pace from the start.
Drama struck immediately, with Nic copping an unlucky blow from the very first ball and having to leave the field under the blood rule. Despite this setback, the team rallied. Young guns Ruby and Amelia stepped up, showing off their sibling rivalry with some competitive edge and clever play, making sure the energy didn’t drop for a second. Nic, Shana, Amber all added valuable runs to our score.
Coomera played a smart game, mixing up their bowling attack and making runs hard to come by. Our batting line-up fought for every run, but the heat and tactical bowling meant we had to really grind it out to put up a total of 181. It wasn’t easy, but every player dug deep, showing grit and determination.
When it was our turn to bowl, the attitude was all about taking wickets and keeping things positive. Ruby, Amber, Amelia, and G all put in strong performances with the ball, making life difficult for Coomera’s batters. Ev, Shana, and Nic were rock-solid, bowling tight and keeping the pressure on.
It was a nail-biter right to the end. Unfortunately, a couple of missed fielding opportunities proved costly, and we went down by just 2 runs. But there’s no room for negativity here—everyone gave it their all, and the team’s optimism for the next match is absolutely buzzing. With this fighting spirit and a few lessons learnt, there’s no doubt we’ll come back stronger next time. Go Navy!

Runaway Bay Pink Diamonds v Queens – Sam Loxton 5 Runaway Bay lost the toss and were sent in to bat first, and with only 8 players available, everyone knew they were in for a busy (and exciting!) day — 15 balls each to make an impact. Kelly got us off to a flying start, striking a beautiful boundary first up and backing it up with four more fours in a confident innings of 26 runs. She was joined by Kirsten, who also found the boundary a couple of times, batting with great composure to contribute 21 runs. Together, they put on a strong 47-run partnership, setting the tone early. Next in were Sonia and Faith, who kept the scoreboard ticking over nicely. With some well-timed shots — including a few sixes (fours hit off no balls) — the pair added an impressive 44 runs. Sonia finished with 17, while Faith hit her way to 27. Tracy and Lori followed and brought plenty of fire. Tracy wasted no time, smashing her first ball for four and adding two more fours, equalling her highest score with 21 runs. Lori finished in style, striking a beautiful four off her final ball to record her top score of the season with 20 runs — a fantastic effort! Gaylene and Mel closed out the innings, running hard between the wickets and collecting singles aplenty. Gaylene finished with 14 runs, while Mel posted her top score of the season with 18 runs. Mel’s all-round performance didn’t go unnoticed, earning her Woman of the Match from the Queens team for her batting and excellent keeping — well done, Mel! A huge highlight of the innings was that no one was dismissed, showing just how much our batting continues to improve. Every single player contributed — an outstanding team effort. ⸻ Bowling & Fielding After a short break, the Pink Diamonds took to the field full of energy. Kelly opened the bowling beautifully, starting with figures of 0/4 and finishing with 1/12 (3 overs) — a terrific spell. Kirsten bowled lovely straight lines, though a few boundaries snuck through, ending with 0/30 (3). Sonia bravely pushed through with sore fingers and knuckles, delivering a solid effort of 0/28 (3). Tracy followed and kept things very tidy, and in her final over struck gold, taking 2 wickets to finish with 2/22 (3). Combined with her equal top batting score, Tracy was deservedly awarded Runaway Bay Woman of the Match — another top performance! Faith had a great day, even having a thrilling crack at a hat-trick (so close!), finishing with figures of 3/28 (3). Gaylene continued her strong form with very tidy bowling, taking 1/18 (3) — great work. Lori wrapped things up with 0/27 (2), while Mel was rock solid behind the stumps, doing a fantastic job as keeper. ⸻ The Result Runaway Bay Pink Diamonds: 197 Queens: 162 With batting by both teams extremely close, the match ultimately came down to wickets, and the Pink Diamonds came out on top — a brilliant team win! ⸻ Thank You’s A big thank you to Gareth for umpiring and always supporting us ladies.
