First Grade

The 1st grade played against coomera for the last game of the season, we had a very simple goal for this game we had to win by a bonus point and hope results went our way to reach finals. With that in mind we won the toss and decided to bowl first.
Suranga opened up and bowled an excellent first spell on a pitch which didn’t offer a huge amount of movement with the new ball. He got the early break through with a feather to James. Ben canning supported him well at the other end bowling some tidy lines. Suranga then took another one caught in the gully by Ben. Myself and Mo took over and at first they started to get away but we got the break through of there overseas. In partnership we kept it tidy and piled on the pressure and the wickets started to crumple. Travis and Ted came on to extract some spin from the pitch and trav made a quick breakthrough. Ted created chances and got unlucky. We brought Suranga back on and he struck straight away followed by 2 run outs. The innings was finished off after that and we set a total of 164.
Yas and James opened the batting with the intention of chasing the runs in 36 overs for the bonus point. Unfortunately we lost Yas early. Corey and James put on a great partnership of 38. Some excellent strokes by both players and put us in a good position to chase this down. With coomera also looking for the bonus point they kept the field tight and put lots of pressure on the batsmen. After the fall of James we didn’t put up much of a resistance and lost wickets quickly. We were bowled out for 74 to end our season.
Unfortunately the season didn’t end the way we would have wished but it was a great season and showed some real promise for the future. With a young side there is so much potential for this team which will hopefully be shown next year. A huge thanks to everyone that played this year and good luck to those in finals.

2nd Grade

To round out the final home and away game of the season the 2s headed down to Choice oval to take on Coomera.
Greeted with wet conditions and an unsafe outfield our game was delayed an hour. After some back and forth with the Coomera captain and umpire, he declared that the ground was “not bad enough to call the game off” and the game was reduced to 30 overs each.
We won the toss and elected to bat first on a wicket that did not match the outfield and was as hard as a meat pie from the servo at 11pm.
Trenching through ankle deep mud, Proctor and Hocart started the innings off and in only the second over Proctor was out caught for 1.
This brought Timmy in and after a long drive down the M1 Tim was into his work early hitting boundary’s and putting on a stong partnership with Hocart of 68 before being caught out for a well made 27. Tom Goss in next and did was he does best and swung harder then a screen door in a cyclone hitting a monster 6 back over the bowlers head. He ended up being caught for 10. Billings came in and knocked a few around before being caught and bowled. Connor got a tough decision and then Hocart was out bowled for a brilliant 69 off 65 that featured 10 boundaries. Special mention to Hocart who wrapped up his home and away season finishing with the most runs in the comp.
Taika batted really well for his 20 red of 23 and was composed like a man well behind his years.
We ended our 30 overs 9 for 151 which given the slow out field felt like a winning total.
Stevie opened up and bowled great areas and bowled his 6 overs straight for economical figures of 1/27, George also picking up a wicket that he calls the ball of the century and finishing with 1/24 off his 6. With the score 2/15 at one stage Coomera put on a 40 run 3rd wicket partnership before Josh Hoare got the breakthrough. Josh bowled well finishing 1/14 off 3 with Jake at the other end 0/13 off 2. Coomera nudged there way to 3/93 and were looking on top before young gun Will Altas took the middle stump from the Batsman. Tom Goss bowled exceptional, tightening things up when Coomera seemed to get back on top, he finished with figures 2/16 off 5.1 overs. With game in the balance Will Altas continued bowing his lines and managed to get another 4 wickets, taking his first 2nd grade 5fa, 4 off them being bowled. Incredible achievement Will and something you should be very proud of. Coomera all of out for 132 and we took our 15th scalp of the season.
This result meant we finished 4 wins clear on top of the table and will Host the Semi against Palm Beach on Loxton 1 this Saturday with a chance to get into the big game. Hope to see you all there!
Nathan “Kev” Proctor 1/1

6th Grade

Our final game was played against top of the table Coomera. Staying in tune with the season trend, we lost the toss and were bowling.
Dale and myself opened and put pressure on the attacking Coomera openers from ball 1. Dale claimed the opening wicket with a magnificent in swinger which brought a powerful left hander to the crease that wanted to hit the ball into the carpark from ball 1. We quickly learned he couldn't hit anything outside off, and I finally got him to chop on from a ball that swung late.
This brought about a tactical change in bowling and Lachy took the reigns. This brought about an instant wicket. He was supported well by Sam who also took an early wicket.
We had them 4/103 at drinks.
Sam and Lachy continued to bowl exceptionally well after drinks with the latter claiming a second wicket and being the pick of the bowlers for the day ending with 2/31 off 6 overs. Arran, MD, Coyney and James bowled the remaining overs with Coyney claiming the only other wicket for the game.
Coomera made 6/258.
A special shout out goes to Lachy, James and Dale who were constantly running their legs off in the field to save every last run they could. Exceptional effort guys!
Greg and James opened the batting. We were anticipating something special from these 2, and they didn't disappoint. On the 3 ball of the innings they both ended up at the same end, arguing who should run the other way and be run out as Coomera missed the stumps which would have left plenty of time to get back, but allass Greg was run out in comedic fashion with a few choice words as he walked off. They were soon reunited as James chopped on 12 balls later.
Smudge came and went cheaply as Arran got set and was looking in fine form.
Coyney joined him and was clearly hampered by injury as he regularly turned down 2 or 3 runs for a walking single.
Arran departed in the 8th over for a hard fought 11. Amrit and Coyney proved impenetrable, taking us to drinks 4/68, with Amrit hitting the only 6 of the game in the process!
Coyney decided to retire hurt at drinks to protect his average which allowed Sam to visit the middle for an over as he walked off and thanked Coyney for the opportunity.
Lachy came out and held up an end well as Amrit blasted his way to 42 before falling just short of his 50. But a huge congratulations goes out to him on his highest score for the Bay! Lachy went soon after, getting run out in another mix up. MD and Dale went about their business like pros. MD showed some class with the bat and worked his way to his highest score ever of 7. Congratulations MD!
I joined Dale for the remaining few overs and the bowlers instantly had perceived pressure despite the result being beyond doubt, with regular full tosses coming and being put away. Dale and I both finished unbeaten on 17 and 16 respectively. It was a fitting finish to end the season in the middle together as this summer bromance blossomed one last time under the beautiful sunset of Loxton 3.
We managed a score of 8/136.
This was a great season for the Bay. Finishing just outside the finals, we developed some amazing talent throughout the year. Some junior names you'll all be used to hearing by now who have developed their craft through our team this year includes the likes of, Toby Hudson, Quaid Rogers, Harrison Rachow and Aidan Long. These future superstars have all stamped their authority on the game this year and have demanded the respect of oppositions around the GC. You guys have a very bright cricketing journey ahead, and I'm so grateful that I was there to witness the start of something great.
Thank you to all the Bay family who finished their games and came to watch us play, it was a great display of the Bay HEART.
I'd also like to thank Raquel for filling in as well as Suzie for all your support every week. Last but not least, a massive THANK YOU to Shana for everything you have done for our team and in turn the club this season. Without your unwavering support, scoring and on field heroics this season wouldn't have been such a success.

Match Report: Runaway Bay vs Bonogin
It was a cloudy, grey morning with challenging conditions as Runaway Bay took on Bonogin, with strong winds and steady light rain testing both teams throughout the match.
Runaway Bay won the toss and elected to bat, particularly with Ruby needing to head to Brisbane for the Athletics State Championships — a decision that proved fitting, with Ruby now crowned the U18 State Javelin Champion. A fantastic achievement and well done to her.
Batting first, it was a true team effort. Everyone contributed at the crease, showing great application and resilience in difficult conditions. A special thank you goes to Carol, who generously filled in for us on the day — her support was greatly appreciated. The innings was finished in style with some big hitting from G, providing strong momentum heading into the break.
With the ball in hand, Runaway Bay again showed their strength. Consistency was the key, as disciplined bowling kept the runs down despite the wet and windy conditions. This was backed up by excellent fielding, highlighted by some outstanding catches and great effort across the ground.
The match was played in terrific spirit, and we thank the Bonogin ladies for a competitive and enjoyable game.

Women Pink Division 3

Runaway Bay Pink Diamonds v Surfers Paradise – Loxton 4
With rain threatening and a very wet night prior to the game, winning the toss felt important today. Unfortunately, luck wasn’t on our side and we were sent out to bat first on a damp field.
Having our sister duo back together, Kelly and Sonia opened the innings and got the scoreboard rolling. Kelly struck a lovely four — one of only three boundaries for the day — while Sonia top scored for the team. Faith and Nev followed the sister power partnership, with Faith hitting another of the day’s boundaries and Nev showing great improvement from last week, running strongly between the wickets.
Tracy and Teagan were next to the crease. Tracy added the final boundary for the innings, while Teagan did well to make contact against some very quick bowling. Gaylene, Bernie and Emily rounded out the batting order. Gaylene worked hard but the Surfers fielders were sharp with quick hands in the field. Bernie, playing her very first game, faced some extremely fast bowling. She managed to get a run on the board in her debut innings and should be incredibly proud of getting bat on ball several times — no easy feat for a first-time player.
Emily brought the innings home while also teaching the lovely Craig how to score along the way. She kept the scoreboard ticking nicely, finishing with almost a run-a-ball effort. We finished the innings losing six wickets — two bowled and four run outs.
Batting Scores
Kelly – 12 (14)
Sonia – 15 (14)
Faith – 14 (14)
Nev – 6 (13)
Tracy – 11 (13)
Teagan – 4 (13)
Gaylene – 8 (13)
Bernie – 1 (13)
Emily – 10 (13)
After a quick break we headed out to field. Once again the Pink Diamonds were excellent in the field, rotating positions so everyone could experience the fun of each role around the ground. Although we didn’t take a wicket today, every player contributed with multiple dot balls and strong fielding.
Tracy opened the bowling once again this week with some beautiful straight deliveries. Surfers managed to find a few boundaries, but Tracy still produced four dot balls. Kelly was impressive as always, finishing with an outstanding 11 dot balls from her three overs, including a third over that conceded just a single run.
Gaylene had another solid performance with the ball, delivering five dot balls from two overs, with Sonia following up with identical figures. Teagan finished with the best bowling figures of the day, recording six dot balls from her two overs. Faith contributed four dot balls from her two overs, Nev finished with three dot balls from her two overs, Emily bowled two dot balls, and Bernie capped off an incredible first bowling innings with six dot balls.
For her all-round performance with bat, ball and in the field, Bernie was awarded Player of the Match — a fantastic effort in her very first game. Well done Bernie! We hope to see you back with us next season.
Bowling Figures
Tracy – 0/35
Kelly – 0/14
Gaylene – 0/11
Sonia – 0/11
Teagan – 0/7
Faith – 0/16
Nev – 0/14
Emily – 0/15
Bernie – 0/10
The Surfers Paradise ladies awarded their Player of the Day to Kelly for her outstanding performance. Kel, it was so lovely to have you back with the Pink Diamonds after filling in for Division 2 over the past few weeks — and Kirsten, we miss you too!
A huge thank you to Gareth for everything you’ve given us this season. The improvement across the team is clear to see and the fun we have on the field is evident for everyone watching. Your guidance each week means a lot to all of us. A shout out as well to Teddy for helping at Friday night training — we really appreciate the time and support you give the team.
Craig, thank you for stepping in to learn scoring today — we would have been lost without you! And to our amazing cheer squad (which seemed to double in size this week), thank you for your unwavering support. We love having you all there cheering us on.
Although it was a loss today, we certainly had plenty of fun out there. Thank you to Nev and Bernie for filling in so we could take the field — we’d absolutely love to see you both back next season.
Finally, a heartfelt thank you from me to all the Pink Diamonds. In only my second year of cricket, I was honestly quite surprised to be asked to step into the role of captain and felt a little tentative about taking on such a responsibility. I wasn’t sure if I was ready for it, but from the very beginning I felt genuine support from every one of you, and that made the role so much easier.
The encouragement, laughter, teamwork and kindness that this group shows each other every week is something really special. Being part of this team — and having the privilege of leading it — has meant more to me than I can probably put into words. You have all made this season such a fun, supportive and memorable one, and you’ve helped me grow in confidence along the way.
We finish the season with 3 wins from 9 games and 3 very close losses, which really shows how far we’ve come as a team. Every game we’ve improved, supported each other and most importantly enjoyed every moment together.
I truly believe we’re building something special here, and I have no doubt that next year will be our year. I can’t wait to be back out on the field with all of you again.
Thank you all for an amazing season and for being such a wonderful team to be part of.
Faith

Unlocking FrogBox Highlights with PlayHQ and LillyPad
This season, the Runaway Bay Cricket Club is excited to bring more of our cricket to life through FrogBox live streaming and highlight packages. We’ll be aiming to stream as many games as possible across Premier Cricket, Veterans, Juniors, and Women’s cricket, showcasing the talent and spirit of our club to family, friends, and supporters everywhere.
To make the most of this technology, we need the help of our scorers. The key lies in how we use PlayHQ alongside FrogBox’s highlight program, LillyPad. Here’s how it works: When live scoring in PlayHQ, you’ll notice a button on the screen labelled “Bowler Running In”*. This button should be pressed just before—or right as—the bowler begins their approach. Doing this triggers the recording of that particular ball, ensuring any exciting moment (like a wicket, a six, or a boundary) is captured for our highlight reel. By consistently pressing this button, our scorers help create accurate and exciting highlight packages that not only celebrate individual performances but also promote our teams and club culture. With everyone’s contribution, we can build a library of memorable moments that players and supporters will be able to watch back and enjoy for years to come. Let’s work together to make this season one to remember—both on and off the field.
