Under 10’s
Under 10’s Orange vs Runaway Bay Navy
It was the last game for the season and we were back up against our clubmates in the Navy Team. We hadn’t beaten them this year and they have always had the answers to our best efforts. After 2 weeks off due to rain and lack of interest by Alberton 2 weeks in a row, the boys were keen to finish the season with a game and try our luck against the big boppers. A late call was made by the coaches despite the weather, to have a game and make it happen. The club president put out the cones and stumps so our field was a bit lopsided and there was a very short boundary which would help the right handed batters considering the gale force easterly. Zac guessed correctly the number selected by Lucius’ Dad and he set his batting line up and went to the toss, called hills but the flats won again, so we were sent in to bat.
The boys weren’t surprised by the Navy teams excellent bowling and disciplined fielding but soldiered on through tough conditions with the ball hooping around due to the cross wind. Charlie and Elijah opened and didn’t disappoint. Zac and Lucius followed trend and the seven year old marvels paired up after that, then Luke and Yaqub brought us home. Standard effort by Charlie who again top scored with 27, closely followed by Lucius with 26 and almost everyone else hit double figures for another consistent team effort compiling a healthy total of 8/131. With the short boundary and wind howling through, Mums and Dads, brother and sisters were seen jumping out of the way numerous times to avoid the round white plastic missile much like the Gabba crowd when Finn Allen was batting this year. Lucius sending two over the rope in 3 balls, Charlie chimed in for one and Billy wasn’t to be out done and hit his first six for the year.
With a decent score on the board and two lefties in the opposition batting line up, things were looking good for the Orange team. Yaqub, Luke, Billy and James bowled their best four overs for the year keeping the highly touted Navy batters to just 2/25 off the first four overs. Yaqub had his best bowling effort for the year with 0/15 off his three overs but most importantly only 2 cone balls. Luke was on a hattrick after a Lucius catch and a bowling Tobi off consecutive balls, but couldn’t quite clinch the deal. The boys bowled disciplined lines and aiming as far left as possible to let the wind bring it back and the plan was working, and resulted in only 27 cone balls despite the tough conditions. Elijah had the best figures of 2/10 off his two overs, Charlie, as he does each week snagged 2/12 (2), Luke put up 2/17 (3). Lucius 1/13 (2) and Captain Zac 1/15 (2) were also among the wickets. This was as close as we have been to the Navy team and the boys were in it up to their eyeballs until late when Jack came in looking like Glenn Maxwell and took the game away. The Navy team made 8/138 off their 20 overs and just pipped our boys again by 7 runs.
In the field, the boys were disciplined and did exactly as they were asked by staying back against the rope on the western boundary and really worked hard to restrict our clubmates easy runs. Fielding was top drawer again tonight as it has been all season. A few missed opportunities, but a LOT of effort tonight, but unfortunately it didn’t go our way.
And so brings a close to the 2025/26 Under 10’s cricket season, thank you to each and every one of the boys and it’s been great to see you all improve your skills and front up every week with cracking attitudes and effort. To all of the boys moving up to U/11’s hard ball cricket next year, good luck, work hard and I hope you get used to being able to actually see the ball because it’s Saturday mornings. To those staying in U/10’s use the next year(s) to improve your skills and keep smashing them.
Thanks also to the parents who showed up each week and those who helped out. It was greatly appreciated. Hope to see you all at presentation on Friday, starting at 6pm for our boys. Enjoy the winter and hope to see you all back at the Bay in October for another crack!
Go The Bay!!!
Regards,
Andrew Millar

This week we had our final match under grey skies. The grudge match of the year took place with our runaway bay navy taking on our orange runaway bay team.
Conditions were tough with rain squalls every 15mins, not to mention a 30knot South East'a. It's fair to say both teams learnt about the art of swing bowling with the help of the wind gusts. Umpiring was the best seat in the house watching most of our bowlers unintentionally sending down hoops and sometimes moving the ball across all 3 stumps!!
There were no stand outs this week, because my young team are all just little superstars! Everyone was outstanding which is why we had 8 'players of the match'. We've had a great year and it was only fitting to have our final match against the other bay side. Our team is made up of all different types of characters and sitting back watching the carnage unfold was sometimes stressful but on the most part an enjoyable special time of the week.
Seeing one of our players take a simple catch or bowl someone out for the first time is a reward in itself, not to mention the 5 minute post wicket celebrations of 'stacks on' seeing our wicket taker squashed under a mountain of bodies!
These special moments we hope will stay with them through the years, and Andy and I look forward to seeing some of these characters one day walk out on Loxton 1 representing the bay and 'ton up' or take a 'five'fa'
Thanks for a great season under 10's!

Under 11’s

Under 11 V Helensvale
We Played our first game in 3 weeks due to rubbish weather on loxton 5 on Saturday, Being our last game of the season we were pretty keen to get on, the rain came down until about an hour before the game but we toughed it out and played on a saturated pitch, but the out field wasn’t to bad, Our skipper for the day was Harry, Harry lost the toss and we were sent into have a bat, We opened up with Zac and Arthur both lad facing the 2 fastest bowlers in under 11s toughed it out and trying to rotate strike but the wet pitch was playing into Helensvale’s hands with their fast bowlers really skidding the ball along, Both Zac and Arthur finished on 7 a piece off 14 balls, Next in was Alex who tried to hit these quicks and ended on 1 off 14 Captain Hazza was next in and played some of the best shots he has played all season with Callum at the other end both boys talking to each other every ball rotating strike while hitting boundaries, Harry finished on 9 off 14 and Callum 22 off 13 with 4 fours , Reuben was next in and started where Hazza left off playing some beautiful straight drives as well as his communication with Callum at the other end was great, Rueben finished 19 off his 13 including 1 four, Vansh was next in with Sadie these 2 tried to turn the strike over but Helensvale had other ideas and pulled out some great fielding Vansh finished 6 off 13 Sadie 3 off 13,Ziggy was our last batter in Ziggy an Sadie ran well when they could rotating strike Ziggy finished on 5 off 12 our total was 115 off 20 overs,
We opened the bowling with Arthur, he bowled really well really getting under the openers skin we got a run out very first ball of the innings with a direct hit, Callum followed Arthur bowling well with both these boys 2 overs none for 10, Harry was next to bowl and bowled a great captains spell with his off spin 3 overs 2 for 10 one of Harrys wickets was a full stretched dive to his right by wicket keeper Reuben Landers very Jimmy Pierson like, Alex was next in bowling his leg spin for 2 overs before trying his medium pace for his last over 1 wicket for 20 runs off his 3 overs, Ziggy bowled super quick and tight lines and went for 9 runs off his 2 overs, Zac Fisher was next in to the attack and I’m not sure what he ate for breakfast but that has to be the new dietary requirement going forward he seemed to have picked up an extra 15kmph this week taking a wicket on his second ball of his first over with an excellent catch by himself and second ball on his second over bowled Zac finished with figures of 2 for 6 off his 2,Vansh was next into bowl bowling a maiden over in his first and for no fault of his own being hit for 3 boundaries due to bad Feilding Vansh finished 15 runs off his 2 overs, Sadie was next into the attack and bowled one of her best spells all year every ball was a absolute seed bowling 2 overs for 8 runs, Reuben swapped wicket keeping with Callum who took a catch off reuben both lad kept very well , Reuben bowled sensationally 2 wickets for 11 runs off his 2 overs,
And just like that our season was done and dusted, So off to a team party at the fishers where the team had a heap of fun, I could not be happier with the team and families we have had this year, Hope to see you all again

🏏🔥 FINALS TIME – GAME ON! 🔥🏏

Under 13’s Division 1

Bay vs Maulers
Some pretty solid rain had a us worried Friday night.
We managed to dry the pitch out enough to get the game underway. It was going to be pretty tough batting conditions, but in true game spirit the boys were keen to have a crack. Was hard to get a read on what the pitch was doing, some were skidding and others popping up.
With a target of 246 the boys had a tough mental game to play. Our openers settled nicely. Good on you Robert for putting your hand up.
The conditions kept scoring to a minimum but it didn’t stop the boys having a go. Once we lost our first it was a bit of a slippery slide from there. Our 3 and 4 batter Ollie and Zach each gave themselves an over to settle, once they started to look like scoring each were caught. This was followed by a couple a quick wickets through some fantastic fielding. Benji and Will did a great job slowing the wickets, spending some time out in the middle.
Very tough conditions and I think the way the wickets fell reflects that. We protected our stumps very well. There was not 1 bowled wicket. The sporadic movement of the ball led to a lot of edges a miss hits.
The boys did their best and that’s all that matters. It’s another innings of experience to build on in the future.
We went out in the field to finish the day. Although a few weren’t so keen, a couple of wickets and created opportunities pepped them up a bit and we finished strong.
Thank you to everyone throughout the season. It was a very strong and challenging competition. As we have seen over the years success is not always measured in results, results come with time. Sometimes a year where things are tough sets them up for the future. I really hope all the boys continue their cricket journey whatever it looks like next year.
Huge shout out to Sarah Benson and Chris Harper. Always there ready to do whatever it takes to get the boys going. Thanks heaps Andrew Walsh for stepping in as scorer when Sarah has been away.
Massive shout out to Travis Harker, think he only missed 4-5 of our trainings! Your help and cricket knowledge at training was very much appreciated! Really good camaraderie with the boys as well.
Everyone on the committee and involved at the Bay. Thanks for all your efforts, it’s greatly appreciated.

Open Turf Juniors Division 1

Match Report – Runaway Bay Seagulls Opens Div 1
Chasing 148, Runaway Bay Seagulls fell short, finishing 8/124 from 43.2 overs in a tough outing against a disciplined Burleigh attack.
The innings never quite gained momentum, with early wickets putting the Seagulls on the back foot. Taika Hoare and Rocco Fisher both battled hard at the top, but scoring proved difficult against tight bowling and well-set fields. Rocco in particular showed resilience, occupying the crease for 71 deliveries, though the lack of scoring opportunities added pressure to the chase.
At 3/47, the Seagulls were searching for stability, but Burleigh continued to strike at key moments. Lucy Logan and William Altass were unable to convert their starts, and when skipper Jake Schultz fell shortly after, the required rate began to climb.
The middle order showed some fight, with Flynn Richardson playing positively for his 17, before Stephen Watson produced the standout innings of the day. Stevie’s 32 from 42 balls gave Runaway Bay a glimmer of hope, combining well with A.J Francesconi (20) in the side’s best partnership of the innings. The pair added valuable runs to push the total past 120 and briefly threaten a late push.
However, Burleigh’s bowling unit remained composed, led by an outstanding spell from Noah Clement, who claimed 4 wickets and consistently broke partnerships. Support from Reece Dunn (2 wickets) and tidy contributions across the attack ensured the Seagulls were never able to fully recover.
Ultimately, the steady fall of wickets and inability to build sustained partnerships proved costly, with Runaway Bay falling 24 runs short. With only 9 players on the day due to illness and injury it was always going to be struggle.
It was our last game of the season and the last time many of the team will play juniors together. On a personal note it has been a pleasure coaching this group of fantastic young humans over the last three years!

Match Report: Runaway Bay vs Bonogin
It was a cloudy, grey morning with challenging conditions as Runaway Bay took on Bonogin, with strong winds and steady light rain testing both teams throughout the match.
Runaway Bay won the toss and elected to bat, particularly with Ruby needing to head to Brisbane for the Athletics State Championships — a decision that proved fitting, with Ruby now crowned the U18 State Javelin Champion. A fantastic achievement and well done to her.
Batting first, it was a true team effort. Everyone contributed at the crease, showing great application and resilience in difficult conditions. A special thank you goes to Carol, who generously filled in for us on the day — her support was greatly appreciated. The innings was finished in style with some big hitting from G, providing strong momentum heading into the break.
With the ball in hand, Runaway Bay again showed their strength. Consistency was the key, as disciplined bowling kept the runs down despite the wet and windy conditions. This was backed up by excellent fielding, highlighted by some outstanding catches and great effort across the ground.
The match was played in terrific spirit, and we thank the Bonogin ladies for a competitive and enjoyable game.

Women Pink Division 3

Runaway Bay Pink Diamonds v Surfers Paradise – Loxton 4
With rain threatening and a very wet night prior to the game, winning the toss felt important today. Unfortunately, luck wasn’t on our side and we were sent out to bat first on a damp field.
Having our sister duo back together, Kelly and Sonia opened the innings and got the scoreboard rolling. Kelly struck a lovely four — one of only three boundaries for the day — while Sonia top scored for the team. Faith and Nev followed the sister power partnership, with Faith hitting another of the day’s boundaries and Nev showing great improvement from last week, running strongly between the wickets.
Tracy and Teagan were next to the crease. Tracy added the final boundary for the innings, while Teagan did well to make contact against some very quick bowling. Gaylene, Bernie and Emily rounded out the batting order. Gaylene worked hard but the Surfers fielders were sharp with quick hands in the field. Bernie, playing her very first game, faced some extremely fast bowling. She managed to get a run on the board in her debut innings and should be incredibly proud of getting bat on ball several times — no easy feat for a first-time player.
Emily brought the innings home while also teaching the lovely Craig how to score along the way. She kept the scoreboard ticking nicely, finishing with almost a run-a-ball effort. We finished the innings losing six wickets — two bowled and four run outs.
Batting Scores
Kelly – 12 (14)
Sonia – 15 (14)
Faith – 14 (14)
Nev – 6 (13)
Tracy – 11 (13)
Teagan – 4 (13)
Gaylene – 8 (13)
Bernie – 1 (13)
Emily – 10 (13)
After a quick break we headed out to field. Once again the Pink Diamonds were excellent in the field, rotating positions so everyone could experience the fun of each role around the ground. Although we didn’t take a wicket today, every player contributed with multiple dot balls and strong fielding.
Tracy opened the bowling once again this week with some beautiful straight deliveries. Surfers managed to find a few boundaries, but Tracy still produced four dot balls. Kelly was impressive as always, finishing with an outstanding 11 dot balls from her three overs, including a third over that conceded just a single run.
Gaylene had another solid performance with the ball, delivering five dot balls from two overs, with Sonia following up with identical figures. Teagan finished with the best bowling figures of the day, recording six dot balls from her two overs. Faith contributed four dot balls from her two overs, Nev finished with three dot balls from her two overs, Emily bowled two dot balls, and Bernie capped off an incredible first bowling innings with six dot balls.
For her all-round performance with bat, ball and in the field, Bernie was awarded Player of the Match — a fantastic effort in her very first game. Well done Bernie! We hope to see you back with us next season.
Bowling Figures
Tracy – 0/35
Kelly – 0/14
Gaylene – 0/11
Sonia – 0/11
Teagan – 0/7
Faith – 0/16
Nev – 0/14
Emily – 0/15
Bernie – 0/10
The Surfers Paradise ladies awarded their Player of the Day to Kelly for her outstanding performance. Kel, it was so lovely to have you back with the Pink Diamonds after filling in for Division 2 over the past few weeks — and Kirsten, we miss you too!
A huge thank you to Gareth for everything you’ve given us this season. The improvement across the team is clear to see and the fun we have on the field is evident for everyone watching. Your guidance each week means a lot to all of us. A shout out as well to Teddy for helping at Friday night training — we really appreciate the time and support you give the team.
Craig, thank you for stepping in to learn scoring today — we would have been lost without you! And to our amazing cheer squad (which seemed to double in size this week), thank you for your unwavering support. We love having you all there cheering us on.
Although it was a loss today, we certainly had plenty of fun out there. Thank you to Nev and Bernie for filling in so we could take the field — we’d absolutely love to see you both back next season.
Finally, a heartfelt thank you from me to all the Pink Diamonds. In only my second year of cricket, I was honestly quite surprised to be asked to step into the role of captain and felt a little tentative about taking on such a responsibility. I wasn’t sure if I was ready for it, but from the very beginning I felt genuine support from every one of you, and that made the role so much easier.
The encouragement, laughter, teamwork and kindness that this group shows each other every week is something really special. Being part of this team — and having the privilege of leading it — has meant more to me than I can probably put into words. You have all made this season such a fun, supportive and memorable one, and you’ve helped me grow in confidence along the way.
We finish the season with 3 wins from 9 games and 3 very close losses, which really shows how far we’ve come as a team. Every game we’ve improved, supported each other and most importantly enjoyed every moment together.
I truly believe we’re building something special here, and I have no doubt that next year will be our year. I can’t wait to be back out on the field with all of you again.
Thank you all for an amazing season and for being such a wonderful team to be part of.
Faith

Unlocking FrogBox Highlights with PlayHQ and LillyPad
This season, the Runaway Bay Cricket Club is excited to bring more of our cricket to life through FrogBox live streaming and highlight packages. We’ll be aiming to stream as many games as possible across Premier Cricket, Veterans, Juniors, and Women’s cricket, showcasing the talent and spirit of our club to family, friends, and supporters everywhere.
To make the most of this technology, we need the help of our scorers. The key lies in how we use PlayHQ alongside FrogBox’s highlight program, LillyPad. Here’s how it works: When live scoring in PlayHQ, you’ll notice a button on the screen labelled “Bowler Running In”*. This button should be pressed just before—or right as—the bowler begins their approach. Doing this triggers the recording of that particular ball, ensuring any exciting moment (like a wicket, a six, or a boundary) is captured for our highlight reel. By consistently pressing this button, our scorers help create accurate and exciting highlight packages that not only celebrate individual performances but also promote our teams and club culture. With everyone’s contribution, we can build a library of memorable moments that players and supporters will be able to watch back and enjoy for years to come. Let’s work together to make this season one to remember—both on and off the field.
