Under 10’s
This week our young guns took on Coomera at home. Hudson was our cap-a-tarn and after winning the toss he elected to bowl first.
From the start our little side was on! Every week we are having less and less cone balls making it more competitive and feeling like a proper T20 round.
To be fair, the opposition had some gun bats and put a solid total on us. With that being said a special mention must go to ' O Dog' for taking his first bag (cricket slang for a 5fa) ((5fa - cricket slang for 5 wickets)) 4 of which were bowled! Hudson shocked us with a few sneaky leggies adding to his ever growing bag of tricks and took another blinda at cover proving he is our safest pair of hands in the team. Both Carter and Lara stayed on point with Stump to Stump bowling, and the team took a steady stream of wickets during the initial overs.
It was also good to see the fielders walking in with the bowler - something that will make sense in later years with hard ball cricket. Well done Carter for keeping the team on track with that one and taking it all in on our practice sessions!
In the batting department we chipped away but found boundaries hard to come by with Coomera sticking it to us with a solid bowling line up. Memorable mentions must go to Toby and Spencer for technically sound straight batting- it will pay off lads so keep it up!!
Our tail did wag though with Wyatt coming to the cease and unleashing a series of solid boundaries!!! A player of the match performance and helped us stay competitive to the end!
Keep up the good work Navy and looking forward to the next round!!

Under 10’s Orange vs Coomera Scorchers
A quirk in the fixture for Runaway Bay U/10’s Orange, means that we only play home games this year, so we were back to Aussielec Oval/Loxton 1 on a Friday night with a semi-stiff southerly blowing up from somewhere down past the Runaway Bay shops. For the first time in a while, with Neil showing up at 5:59.58pm, we had our full complement of 10, which means two fielders off each over, everyone bowled 2 overs, and faced 12 balls. Abhi was our captain tonight and he got to work setting up his batting order. At the toss, Coomera called something and claimed the toss flip, elected to bat and that would be the last thing they won all night.
Abhi took the new ball and set the tone for the evening with wickets off his first 2 balls and the rest of the team continued the onslaught for the following 19 overs. With the wind at our backs, we took 11 wickets in the first 10 overs and a total of 16 for the match in one of our better efforts for the year. The deliveries weren’t as tight as last week with a lot more cone balls offered to Coomera, but it worked anyway, with 8 cone ball run outs(CBRO) tonight. Best bowling figures went to James, with 4-5 off his 2 overs including four of the aforementioned CBRO, Neil showed no rust, picking up 3-1 off two including a hattrick (with a CBRO), Zac had them swinging at shadows claiming 3-2 off 2 and Abhi and Charlie took two apiece with Lucius and Billy claiming a scalp each. Billy also bowled his first maiden for the year with only one cone ball in it and a very straight arm. Decent bowling tonight by the team, kept the Scorchers to only 87 for the loss of 16 wickets.
Copy/paste fielding effort tonight, 8 runouts (yes, you read that correctly – 8!!!) including 3 direct hits, and 4 catches with 2 of those by Neil and Charlie when they were bowling. Cap’n Abhi had 2 direct runouts, Charlie had 2 run outs, Lucas, James and Elijah (direct) got one each and one I missed (sorry). Charlie took another catch to go with his C&B and Lucius took a catch as well. Fielding can’t be faulted once again. A few lapses of concentration in the field and a bit too much non-cricket chatter while the bowler is coming in, but a top effort all round by the boys. Good to see that something introduced at training was integrated into our game, as the boys did their best to remember to walk in with the bowler.
With only 12 balls each, individual scores were down a bit, but Elijah still managed to spank them around for 28. After 3 balls he was batting with a strike rate of 400. Neil also topped 20 with almost everyone else registering between 11 and 19 in another consistent team effort with the bat. The mini Bay Orange team knocked up 7/159 in reply, and chalked up a decisive victory.
Another good win by the Orange team, and once again there were no passengers. Another all-round even contribution and superb team effort. Yaqub was our player of the match this week, after getting his highest score (17) for the season, 0-10 off his 2 overs and his talk and effort in the field.
PHOTOS!!! We have team Photos getting done this Friday before the game, so please ensure that you turn up early. More info will be given at training on Tuesday. 6 games to go. Plenty of action to come, so I hope to see you all there on game nights and training where possible. Copy/paste from last week: there might be some sport cross over time slot clashes coming up regarding training and game nights. If this happens, please let me know as early as possible so we can juggle around the teams if required to ensure that we have at least 8 for every game.
Well done again boys, Go The Bay!

Under 11s v Helensvale
What turned out to be a lovely Saturday morning we had the pleasure of another home game up on loxton 4. We had our full team of 9 for the first time in a while which was nice to see everyone again. our captain of the day Arthur won the bat toss and decided to have a bowl, we opened the bowling with Callum and Harry, Callum bowled extremely well again with 1 for 2 off his 2 overs and Harry for the first time has become an off spin bowler and done that with ease and class going for only 5 runs off his 2 overs Alex and Ziggy were next Alex 0 for 9 off his 3 and Ziggy 0 for 12 off 2 Reuben and Vansh were next Reubs bowled yet another great 2 over spell 0 for 4 and Vansh bowled with great accuracy 0 for 7 off 2 Zach next into bowl picking up a wicket with his 3rd ball with a great catch behind the stumps from Arthur ended with great figures of 1 for 4 off his 2 overs, Sadie and Arthur came into the attack and bowled well but the batsman had ideas of there own and had to have a go to score runs Sadie ended with 18 off her 2 and Arthur 19 off his 3, After the 20 overs we had only taken 2 wickets for 108 runs
We opened the batting with Zach and Alex with the boundaries being quite big we knew we had to run well between the wickets and both these boys did this with ease Zach finished 11 off 14 Alex 7 off 14, Harry and Arthur were next in both also running really well Harry finished on 9 off 14 and Arthur 11 off13, Sadie and Vansh next in both playing lovely shots Sadie 9 off 13 and Vansh 13 off13 Ziggy also 13 off 13, Next pair in Reuben and Callum Batted awesome both boys leaving nothing in the tank running a few 3s and even running a 4 Reuben smashing a 18 off 13 with 1 4 and Callum 25 off 13 with 2 4s.
Man of the match Reuben
Another great game by this team of legends the team just keeps improving every week

Under 13’s Division 2

Match Report: Runaway Bay Seagulls U13 Div 2 vs. Palm Beach U13 Gold
The Runaway Bay Seagulls secured a hard-fought victory against Palm Beach U13 Gold, winning by 34 runs in a competitive clash.
Runaway Bay: 7-124 (25 Overs) with Palm Beach: 90 (24.1 Overs)
Bat flip was done and we lost the toss and was sent in on another green top.
We set a solid target of 124, led by a standout performance from Hugo who anchored the innings with an unbeaten 43 runs* off just 33 balls (including 8 boundaries). Fletcher provided excellent support in the middle order, contributing a composed 29 before retiring. Lachlan’s contribution at the end with 6 from 13 not out including a beautiful pull shot for 4 runs adding crucial runs with Hugo after coming back to the crease.
Despite some tight bowling from Palm Beach, we managed to maintain a healthy run rate of 4.96 to finish their 25 overs at 7-124.
When it was our turn to bowl, Palm Beach’s chase never quite gained the necessary momentum. They were bowled out for 90 with our bowling attack proving too consistent.
Nash and Charlie were the stars with the ball, both claiming 2 wickets apiece while maintaining excellent economy. The fielding was also a highlight for the Seagulls, with Hudson putting on a clinic behind the stumps/in the field with 3 catches in his new favourite spot fly slip, while Charlie was involved in 2 run outs.
Key Bowling Performances:
Nash : 2/6 (3 overs)
Charlie : 2/12 (3 overs)
Maggie : 1/11 (2.1 overs)
Fletcher : 1/6 (2 overs)
The Seagulls’ discipline in the field and at the death was the difference. Restricting Palm Beach to just 90 runs while forcing multiple mistakes led to crucial wickets at key moments, ensuring the 34-run cushion was more than enough.
Standout Player: Hugo for his match-defining 43* and 0 for 4 from 2 plus a catch and charlie taking 2 wickets, a catch and being involved in 2 runouts.
Another great team performance!!

Under 13’s Division 1

Days 2 bay vs Southport/Helensvale
With a slow outfield the target of 149 was a tough but achievable target.
We started the innings well, Kade and Harry settled and started chipping away at the total. The first wicket fell in the 11th with a full delivery getting Harry. The next wicket was Kade to a great catch in the 13th.
Zach a Benji looked focused and ready to settle in, unfortunately an unlucky edge to the keeper had Zach go in the 15th.
Benji and Archie kept the runs ticking and the next wicket with in the 18th over with Benji bowled by an in-swinging delivery.
Archie and Josh put on a great partnership. Playing some great shot and running well between the wickets. Archie fell in the 26th follow quickly by Ollie from another in swinging Yorker. Robert was in next and went to another good delivery.
Josh and Will built another partnership, seeing out the best part of 10 overs. Will fell in the 36th and our final 2 wickets went in the 37th with us rally 57 runs short.
Was super happy with moments throughout the game. We had some great partnerships and we played some awesome shots throughout the innings.
Heaps to take from the game!
Thanks everyone for making it happen.

Open Turf Division 1

Returning a week later with 202 to get, the Runaway Bay Seagulls Opens Div 1 side produced a calm, disciplined and ultimately dominant run chase to finish on 203 without loss in 46.4 overs, sealing a memorable victory over Springwood Suns Heat.
At the heart of the chase was a superb innings from Taika Hoare, who set the tone early and never let the required rate become an issue. Mixing fluent strokeplay with smart rotation of the strike, Hoare brought up a well-deserved century (100 retired not out from 104 balls), a knock built on composure and authority against a persistent Springwood attack.
While Taika provided the momentum, Lucy Logan delivered the innings that anchored the chase. Batting through the innings, Logan showed immense patience and concentration, finishing 66 not out from 151 balls. Her ability to absorb pressure and keep the scoreboard ticking ensured the Seagulls stayed firmly in control throughout the afternoon.
The pair shared a match-defining opening partnership of 150+, wearing down the Springwood bowlers and forcing fielding changes as the total steadily came into reach. With victory in sight, William Altass joined Logan late in the innings, adding a composed 12 not out to help guide the Seagulls past the target.
Despite Springwood using seven bowlers and maintaining effort across the day, breakthroughs proved elusive, with the Seagulls’ top order refusing to offer chances. Extras also played their part, with 25 added to the total as the pressure told late in the chase.
The successful pursuit capped off a strong all-round team performance across the two weeks and highlighted the maturity and discipline of the opening pair, with the team finishing the job emphatically without the loss of a wicket.
A chase done properly — patient, professional, and clinical.

🎉 150 GAMES | CLUB LEGEND ALERT! 🎉
Today the Runaway Bay Cricket Club joined with community and Government partners to unveil a new bronze statue of Sixth Grade Orange captain Chris Schultz.
The statue commemorates his years of loyal service and 150th game for the club this weekend.
The sculpture was crafted by Chris himself.
It will move from its current, temporary home to Sam Loxton 6, where it will adorn the outskirts of the smallest boundary.
Chris is filled with an almost limitless self-belief and confidence.
The only time anyone saw true fear in his eyes, was when someone whispered in his ear as a joke that he ‘might be forced to play up the grades’.
Chris is often described as being ‘a big fish in a small pond’.
He is more the shark from Jaws - living in the aquarium at Underwater World in Mooloolaba.
Eating guppies, mollusks and crustaceans.
Chris is one of the greatest lower grade players of the modern era. And a likely future Inductee of the Syntho Bully Hall Of Fame.
Well done Chris from everyone at the Bay. Here’s to the next 150.

📅 Mark your calendars, gather your crew, and let’s make this season one to remember!

Unlocking FrogBox Highlights with PlayHQ and LillyPad
This season, the Runaway Bay Cricket Club is excited to bring more of our cricket to life through FrogBox live streaming and highlight packages. We’ll be aiming to stream as many games as possible across Premier Cricket, Veterans, Juniors, and Women’s cricket, showcasing the talent and spirit of our club to family, friends, and supporters everywhere.
To make the most of this technology, we need the help of our scorers. The key lies in how we use PlayHQ alongside FrogBox’s highlight program, LillyPad. Here’s how it works: When live scoring in PlayHQ, you’ll notice a button on the screen labelled “Bowler Running In”*. This button should be pressed just before—or right as—the bowler begins their approach. Doing this triggers the recording of that particular ball, ensuring any exciting moment (like a wicket, a six, or a boundary) is captured for our highlight reel. By consistently pressing this button, our scorers help create accurate and exciting highlight packages that not only celebrate individual performances but also promote our teams and club culture. With everyone’s contribution, we can build a library of memorable moments that players and supporters will be able to watch back and enjoy for years to come. Let’s work together to make this season one to remember—both on and off the field.

Women Division 3 Pink

Runaway Bay Pink vs Loganholme – Loxton Oval 3 Sunday 1st Feb 2026
We knew we were in for a tough day against the talented Loganholme side, but what an enjoyable match it turned out to be.
Winning the toss, we elected to field first to beat the heat. Loganholme came out swinging and posted a strong total of 234 runs, which was always going to be a challenging chase. That said, their run total was also a reflection of our continued improvement in the field. The Pink Diamonds’ bowling continues to develop, with noticeably straighter deliveries down the pitch. While that can invite some big hits, it is fantastic to see the progress and growing confidence across the team.
Our lone wicket came from the beautiful bowling of Tracy, with the catch safely taken by Kirsten — well done, ladies.
Bowling figures:
Kelly 0/47 (3)
Kirsten 0/34 (3)
Faith 0/32 (3)
Sonia 0/30 (3)
Tracy 1/22 (2)
Emily 0/18 (2)
Gaylene 0/22 (2)
Teagan 0/29 (2)
After a short break, we went in to bat. Kelly got us off to a flying start with a beautiful four, followed by two more — one so close to being a six it even confused the umpires. Kelly finished with an impressive 30 off 14 balls and a personal best top score! Well done Kelly.
Kirsten was solid yet again, proving to be a fantastic partner to both Kelly and Faith, contributing 14 runs off 14 ish balls. Faith had a huge amount of fun at the crease, hitting a couple of sixes and finishing with 40 off 14 balls and her personal best score.
Sonia, ever reliable, added 27 runs off 13 balls, with only one dot ball and four fours through the middle innings and yet another personal best score! Emily contributed 9 off 13 balls, while Tracy continued her outstanding form with another personal best 2 weeks running — 23 off 13 balls. With her excellent all-round performance, Tracy was deservedly named Player of the Match for the second game running. Outstanding effort.
Gaylene chipped in with 4 runs, once again showing excellent running between the wickets. She also put her body on the line in the field to stop a certain four and delivered her trademark lovely straight bowling. Gaylene was awarded Player of the Day by both our captain and the opposing team — a fantastic and well-earned recognition.
Mel and Teagan finished us off with 8 runs and 3 runs respectively, Mel equalling her top score another strong all-round performance by both Mel and Teags, we finished the day with 163 runs. Well done Pink Diamonds with half the team making new PB’s with the bat!
A special thank you to Gareth for your ongoing support at training and your guidance during the game — we are improving each week because of you, and we truly appreciate it. Thanks also to Teddy and Col for helping us at training on Fridays, we appreciate your help and support too. Thank you also to Geoff and Mel for scoring, and to our amazing cheer squad. We absolutely love having you there supporting us every week; it means so much to the team.

Match Report: Up the Mountain to Mt Tamborine
It was another great day of cricket as we headed up the mountain to Mt Tamborine, full of confidence and ready to play. Once again, luck didn’t go our way at the toss, losing it again and we were sent in to bat.
What followed was an outstanding batting performance built on teamwork and composure. Every batter made a valuable contribution, with everyone reaching double figures. Showing patience, smart shot selection and excellent communication between the wickets, we managed to lose no wickets at all, finishing our innings on an impressive 0/189. A truly dominant batting display and a credit to the whole lineup.
The momentum continued in the field, with the bowling attack backing up the batters brilliantly. All bowlers contributed with tight lines, consistent pressure and great energy, making scoring extremely difficult for the opposition. A special mention must go to G, who produced a superb spell, taking 2/6 off her 3 overs and Ruby, who matched the effort with an excellent 2/8 off her 3 overs. Shout out to the Mt Tamborine ladies great bunch of girls with a positive spirit to match!
Overall, it was an amazing team effort from start to finish — strong batting, disciplined bowling, and a clear demonstration of how teamwork leads to success. Well done to everyone involved!
Over 50’s Orange

The Bay 50s Orange were up against Coomera on Loxton - 2 , fighting for
a top - 4 position on the Table .
The Deck looked great and outfield dry and fast .
The Bay Skip won the Toss and elected to Bat looking for 220 plus with a
strong Batting line up .
Jason and Bally opened up with Jas smashing a quick fire 14 from 7 balls
before snicking a square cut through to the Keeper .
Bally went soon after pulling a short ball to square leg , this bought
Jimmy and the Skip together at 2 -20 .
The Skip was seeing them well till he cut one in half and given out LBW
in disbelief going for 18 from 20 Balls .
Col joined Jimmy and went in a similar way LBW for 11 from 10 Balls with
Jimmy joining him shorty caught for 17 from 30 .
Trav joined Bobby and Bobby left quickly for 1 from 6 balls getting a
rocket which took off with a great catch behind by the Coomera Keeper .
Trav gritted his teeth and pushed forward as Murray joined him and by
surprise went for 9 LBW to the same bowler with splinters left in the
Ball like the Skip .
Lee dug in and supported Trav as he went about business hitting the wide
balls to the rope retiring on a very well made 51 from 66 balls .
The Big Show Kennedy walked to the Middle the join Lee who went next
surprise surprise with another LBW .
We broke for Drinks at the 30th over with the umpire being unable to
continue due to heat exhaustion and did not return to the game leaving
the Batting Sides to umpire , thus the Damage had already been done with
some very very poor decisions impacting the Bays Top Order with the
umpire not really wanting to be involved since the 1st over was bowled .
The Big Show Kennedy started to open his shoulders after drinks pushing
us to a much healthier target than we were at 5/70 with Support from
David Singh at the other end finally going caught for 31 from 40 balls
with the Bay ending up on 183 all out from 37 overs .
Without Terry Blacktopp due to Red Hot Summer duties Jas and Trav
opened the Bowling with Jas having to leave early to catch a delayed
Qantas Flight leaving him in the Bar watching the game unfold on play hq
with 2 - overs up his sleeve still to bowl .
Jas run in hard and gave us everything with one cracking ball that took
the edge with Lee taking a spectacular catch behind in front of 1st slip
, but surprise surprise the Coomera Umpire didnt think he hit it and the
batsman wasnt sure , it was that kind of day :)
Trav bowled well getting us back into the game with 3-10 from his 7 well
supported by The Big Show Kennedy with 2-31 from his 7 , with Bobby ,
Murray chipping in with a few wickets each & David Singh very unlucky
not to end up with a few also .
To Coomera credit they dug in and chased the runs down with 2 overs to
go 8 down celebrating their first win for the season with us over a few
cold beers after the game .
Unfortunately today Cricket was not the Winner due to some very very
poor umpiring decisions .
Cheers .
