Under 10’s

🏏 Future Stars Shine Despite the Rain! 🌟

Unfortunately, both of our Runaway Bay Under 10s teams had their scheduled matches against Alberton at Ormeau washed out due to the wet weather. 🌧️ But that didn’t stop the kids from getting their cricket fix!

With our home ground bone dry, the teams made the most of the situation and decided to head back to Runaway Bay and play an internal match against each other. 🙌

What followed was a fantastic evening of junior cricket, full of smiles, great sportsmanship, and plenty of exciting moments. 🏏✨ The energy and enthusiasm from our young players was brilliant to see, and it was a great reminder of what junior cricket is all about — having fun, learning the game, and enjoying time with teammates and friends.

There were some great batting shots, enthusiastic bowling spells, and plenty of cheering from parents on the sidelines. Most importantly, the kids got to enjoy a fun night of cricket and keep building their love for the game.

A big well done to all our upcoming Runaway Bay superstars ⭐ — the future of the club is looking very bright!

💜🧡 Go Runaway Bay!

🏏 Under 11s Turn a Washout into a Win! 🌟

While the weather had other ideas and our Runaway Bay Under 11s match was unfortunately washed out 🌧️, the team didn’t let that stop them from enjoying their cricket!

Instead of packing it in for the day, the players headed up to Loxton 5 where they made the most of the morning by organising a fun practice match. 🙌

What followed was a fantastic session full of great batting, energetic bowling, and plenty of laughs. 🏏😁 The players showed great enthusiasm and teamwork, turning what could have been a disappointing washout into a really enjoyable morning of cricket.

It was great to see the kids getting plenty of time out in the middle, practicing their skills and building confidence, all while having fun with their teammates. The effort and positive attitude from everyone involved was awesome to see! 👏

A big well done to all of our Under 11 players for making the most of the situation and keeping the spirit of cricket alive. The future of Runaway Bay Cricket Club is looking very bright! 💜🧡

Under 13’s Div 2

🏏 Under 13s Division 2 – The Unluckiest Team of the Weekend 😞

Our Runaway Bay Under 13s Division 2 team were unfortunately the unluckiest of all our junior teams this week.

The boys were scheduled to take on Mudgerraba, but unfortunately Mudgerraba were unable to field a team and had to forfeit the match. While this meant Runaway Bay were awarded the win on paper, it also meant that the kids sadly missed out on getting a game of cricket. 🏏

After a long season of training and matches, it’s always disappointing when the players are ready to go but don’t get the chance to take the field. The team has shown great commitment and enthusiasm all season, so it was a shame they couldn’t get out there and showcase their skills this week.

Despite the circumstances, the team took the news in great spirits and are already looking forward to their next opportunity to get back out on the pitch. 🙌

Well done to all the Under 13s Division 2 players for their positive attitude — we can’t wait to see you back out there playing the game we all love! 💜🧡

Under 13’s Div 1

Runaway bay v Mudgee

The rain held off!!

Our final game for the season was always going to be a tough one.

Throughout the day we bowled well, the opposition batsmen were having us work extremely hard to get wickets and limit runs.

Once we jagged one we were on, we created plenty of opportunities and finished the day taking 7. Great to see the boys keep working throughout the whole game.

Top bowling effort from everyone. Kade bowled 6-12-2 and Cooper 6-35-2.

Having a few short in the field made scoring a bit easier and the boys had to work pretty hard. Thanks heaps to Hugo for stepping in and helping out.

Big chase next week but the boys definitely got it in em!

Open Turf Div 1

Taika Hoare's Six-Wicket Masterclass Puts RBCC in Command on Day 1

The Runaway Bay Div 1 team  have put themselves in a formidable position after the first day of their two-day clash against Burleigh Open Div 1. Driven by a sensational bowling performance, RBCC rolled the visitors for just 148 runs before safely navigating a tricky period before stumps to finish at 0/22.

Hoare Tears Through Burleigh Lineup After taking the field, RBCC's bowling attack relentlessly applied pressure, but it was Taika Hoare who completely stole the show. Hoare delivered a devastating 10-over spell to claim brilliant figures of 6/32. His dominance was highlighted by taking a sharp caught-and-bowled to dismiss Noah Clement for a golden duck, and trapping Burleigh's equal-top scorer, Josh Hingle (31), lbw.

The supporting cast was equally disciplined, ensuring Burleigh never got off the leash. Stephen Watson was highly economical, bagging 2/16 off his 7 overs, including taking the final wicket of the innings. Captain Jake Schultz kept things tight with 1/17 off his 5 overs, while reliable Will Altass grabbed 1/25.

RBCC's fielding was razor-sharp throughout the 41 overs. Wicketkeeper Flynn Richardson had a stellar day behind the stumps, taking two catches and executing a slick stumping off Stevie's bowling. Will also proved safe in the field, securing two important catches.

Solid Start to the Run Chase Faced with a 6-over burst before the close of play, RBCC's openers successfully blunted the Burleigh new-ball attack of Noah Kerry and Ashton Mendoza to finish the day unbeaten on 0/22.

Man-of-the-moment Taika Hoare backed up his heroics with the ball by racing to 15 not out off 24 deliveries (including two boundaries), while Rocco Fisher provided a steady presence at the other end, finishing on 2 not out from 13 balls.

Looking Ahead RBCC will resume their batting innings next Saturday. With all 10 wickets in hand and trailing by 126 runs, the Bay have set a brilliant foundation to secure a commanding victory on Day 2.

6th Grade

Captain Schultz's Historic Double Century Powers RBCC to Massive Victory

It was a day of absolute fireworks at Sir Bruce Small Oval 2 as Runaway Bay  put on a batting masterclass to secure a dominant victory over Surfers Paradise 6th Grade Blue. RBCC posted a colossal total of 5/392 in their allotted 36 overs, ultimately restricting the opposition to 9/274.

A Batting Masterclass The undeniable story of the day was an awe-inspiring, historic innings from RBCC captain Chris Schultz. Schultz played an innings for the ages, carrying his bat to score a breathtaking 254 not out off just 110 deliveries. Showcasing unparalleled aggression and power, he bludgeoned 21 fours and an incredible 22 sixes, finishing with a phenomenal strike rate of 230.90.

Ian Coyne was also instrumental in setting up the mammoth total, providing excellent support with a brisk 61 off 51 balls (8 fours, 1 six) before being run out. James Keith chipped in with a solid 15 (16 balls), while Arran Canning remained unbeaten on 11 at the end of the 36 overs, leaving Surfers Paradise with a monumental mountain to climb.

Clinical Bowling and Fielding Defending 392, the RBCC bowling attack stuck to their task brilliantly against a resilient Surfers Paradise lineup. Ian Coyne completed a stellar all-round match by spearheading the bowling attack, claiming superb figures of 3/28 off his 6 overs, which included a maiden. Amrit Singh was the other major destroyer, taking 2 crucial wickets for 42 runs in his 5 overs.

Lachlan Barry deserves a special mention for a highly economical spell, tying down an end to concede just 24 runs off his 6 overs. Wickets were also shared among the rest of the attack, with MD Jahirul Islam (1/48) and the team's Jimmy (1/7) striking key blows.

Surfers Paradise showed some middle-order fight, primarily through Steven Lye, who scored a rapid 81 off 49 balls, and Jack Callander, who managed 61 off 54 balls. However, RBCC’s sharp fielding ensured the chase never gained enough momentum. Crucial run-outs executed by Chris Schultz and Lachlan Barry, along with a slick stumping by wicketkeeper Gregory Ryan to dismiss the dangerous Lye off Coyne’s bowling, kept the fielding side firmly in the driver's seat.

At the end of their 36 overs, Surfers Paradise finished on 9/274, handing RBCC a comprehensive and highly memorable victory built on the back of one of the greatest individual batting performances in the club's recent history.

📅 Mark your calendars, gather your crew, and let’s make this season one to remember!

Unlocking FrogBox Highlights with PlayHQ and LillyPad

This season, the Runaway Bay Cricket Club is excited to bring more of our cricket to life through FrogBox live streaming and highlight packages. We’ll be aiming to stream as many games as possible across Premier Cricket, Veterans, Juniors, and Women’s cricket, showcasing the talent and spirit of our club to family, friends, and supporters everywhere.

To make the most of this technology, we need the help of our scorers. The key lies in how we use PlayHQ alongside FrogBox’s highlight program, LillyPad. Here’s how it works: When live scoring in PlayHQ, you’ll notice a button on the screen labelled “Bowler Running In”*. This button should be pressed just before—or right as—the bowler begins their approach. Doing this triggers the recording of that particular ball, ensuring any exciting moment (like a wicket, a six, or a boundary) is captured for our highlight reel. By consistently pressing this button, our scorers help create accurate and exciting highlight packages that not only celebrate individual performances but also promote our teams and club culture. With everyone’s contribution, we can build a library of memorable moments that players and supporters will be able to watch back and enjoy for years to come. Let’s work together to make this season one to remember—both on and off the field.

Over 40’s Division 2

Semi final 40s Div 2 vs Mudgeeraba

A big day for the 40s Div2 boys as they arrived at Loxton 1 to play Mudgeeraba in the Semi Final, under dark and gloomy skies we somehow managed to get the game started on time,

Col won the toss which proved crucial with the pending Rain closing in, bowling first was the option so we could control the match,

The mudgee batters started fast  swinging hard early to try and push the game forward in the time we had available,

Trav and Schuey, took the new ball,

Trav struck early doing what he did the last time we played them reducing them to 2/16 then 3/31  when Lee effected a brilliant stumping off Trav,

Schuey wasn’t having to much luck at the other end with 2 catches going down in the slips which didn’t help his cause,

A change at the bowling crease with immediate effect with birdy picking up the 4th wicket,

Mudgee was still going hard and hitting some good shots but that was creating opportunities for us as well ,

Jason picked up the next wicket when birdy took a sharp catch at point, the rain had arrived and was drizzling and causing us some issues especially with the ball, but not enough to take is from the ground.

14 overs in and we had them 6/67 we were getting wickets but they were scoring as well, we decided to change it up and slow the game and bowling down a bit Clarky came into the attack and straight away the game changed as the batters struggled with his lack of pace and he soon struck not once but twice clean bowling 2 in 2 balls, 1 before drinks 1 after, at this point we learnt Mudgee’s plan was to declare and try and bowl us out, but they were quickly informed by the umpire that was against the rules, so we continued on 8/107 and clarky on a hat-trick unfortunately he missed his target with full toss no-ball mainly due to the conditions and the ball as it wasn’t getting any better, their main batter Garth clarke  batted well but had to retire on 50 which opened up the game, Trav came back to tighten up 1 end and Clarky did the rest cleaning up the tail as well as the returning Clarke who he dismissed first ball on return,

We bowled them out for 138 off 23 overs, a great effort in the conditions.

Clarky finished with 5/26

Trav 3/26 , Jason 1/27, birdy 1/39

Schuey 0/20,

The umpire decided to call an early lunch as the rain set in and that was all she wrote as the covers went on & thats where they stayed,

we now progress to the big dance thanks to our strong season & finishing 2nd on the Ladder.

Our next assignment is the Grand Final against Broadbeach to be played at Broadbeach (Neptune Homes Oval) on the 22nd of March.

A big thank you everyone who turned up to cheer us on Sunday we hope to see you all again at Broady
