Season 2026/27
Club Update
Welcome Johnathon Dalwood to The Bay!
The Runaway Bay Cricket Club is thrilled to announce the appointment of Johnathon Dalwood as our new High Performance Batting Coach for the 2026/27 season.
This is another significant step in our vision of creating one of the best player development environments in community cricket.
Johnathon joins The Bay after recently working with Kent County Cricket Club in England, where he coached alongside first-class players and gained invaluable experience in the modern game. He brings with him current coaching techniques, elite batting knowledge and an outstanding passion for helping players maximise their potential.
What excites us most isn't just where Johnathon has been—it's what he can bring to every player at our club.
From juniors learning the game, to senior players chasing representative cricket, Johnathon's focus is on helping every batter develop the skills, mindset and confidence to become the best version of themselves.
Johnathon will work closely with our Head Coach, Gareth Roberts, as they build a player development program that reflects the direction our club is heading.
Over the past 12 months we've worked hard to rebuild our culture and create a club where people love coming to cricket. This season, we're taking the next step by investing heavily in coaching and player development.
Our goal isn't simply to win games.
Our goal is to develop outstanding cricketers, outstanding teammates and outstanding people.
Appointments like this demonstrate our commitment to giving our members opportunities and coaching that are rarely available at community cricket clubs.
Please join us in welcoming Johnathon Dalwood to the Runaway Bay Cricket Club family.
We're excited to see what the future holds.
Welcome to The Bay, Johnathon! 💙💛

🏏 Your Child's Best Summer Starts at The Bay
Hi Everyone,
I hope you're all doing well.
As we look ahead to another exciting season at Runaway Bay Cricket Club, we’re thrilled to share what’s in store for our junior program for 2026/27.
First and foremost, a huge thank you to all of our volunteers, coaches, managers and families. Our junior program continues to thrive because of your energy, passion and commitment to our kids and our club.
🌟 A Big Season Ahead for Our Juniors
This year is all about creating an even more exciting, inclusive and memorable experience for every junior player at The Bay.
We’re focused on more than just cricket development—we’re building confidence, friendships, teamwork and a lifelong love of the game.
From first-time players to our more experienced juniors, every child will have the opportunity to learn, grow and feel part of something special.
🏏 Registrations Now Open
We’re excited to announce that registrations are now open for the upcoming season.
💙 What’s New This Season
We’re continuing to grow and improve our junior program with a strong focus on fun, development and community.
This season will include:
A stronger focus on skill development across all age groups
More opportunities for game-based learning and match preparation
A welcoming environment for new players and families
Continued support and development for our amazing volunteer coaches
💙 Wednesday Junior Training Nights
Junior training will once again be held every Wednesday throughout the season.
To provide the best possible coaching experience and maximise the use of our practice nets, training times will be staggered across the afternoon.
Our current proposed schedule is:
🏏 Under 10 & Under 11 – 4:00pm
🏏 Under 12 & Under 13 – preferably 4:00pm (some teams may commence at 4:30pm depending on numbers and net allocations)
🏏 Open Turf Squad – 4:30pm warm-up and fielding, before moving into the practice nets from approximately 5:15pm.
Final training times will be confirmed once registrations have closed and team numbers are finalised.
🎉 Introducing Monthly Club Nights
One of the most exciting additions this season is our new Monthly Junior Club Night.
Once a month, we’ll turn Wednesday training into a club-wide celebration for all junior players and families.
These nights will include things like:
BBQs and pizza nights
Fun skills challenges and competitions
Parents vs kids games
Social activities that bring our cricket community together
Our goal is simple—make Wednesday nights the highlight of the week for every junior at The Bay.
💫 More Than Just Cricket
At Runaway Bay Cricket Club, we believe junior cricket is about so much more than runs and wickets.
It’s about belonging, confidence, friendships and creating memories that last long after the season ends.
We are incredibly proud of the environment we’re building together, and we can’t wait to see our juniors continue to grow both on and off the field.
🙌 Thank You
Thank you again to everyone who contributes to our junior program. Your support is what makes The Bay such a special place.
We’re looking forward to an incredible 2026/27 season—and we can’t wait to see all our juniors back in action.
Go The Bay!

Volunteering at a community sporting club is no small task. It involves countless hours behind the scenes, attending meetings, organising events, solving problems and helping create an environment where our members can enjoy the game we all love. We are incredibly grateful for everything these volunteers have contributed to the Runaway Bay Cricket Club.
We would also like to recognise several committee members who have stepped away from important operational roles this season.
Brad Collet has finished as our Junior Coordinator, after doing an outstanding job supporting our junior players, coaches and families.

FROM LITTLE SEAGULL TO HEAD COACH 🏏🏏
Some stories come full circle.
Today, Runaway Bay Cricket Club is incredibly proud to announce Megan Roberts as our new Head Women's Coach for the 2026/27 season.
Megan's journey at The Bay began just like so many of our young cricketers...
A little girl in Milo Cricket, full of excitement, learning the game she would come to love. She progressed through our junior ranks, representing the Bay from Under 10s through to Under 14s before earning the opportunity to continue her cricket journey with the Gold Coast Dolphins.
But Megan's story didn't stop as a player.
She came home.
She gave back.
She started coaching our Cricket Blast kids a few yeas ago , inspiring the next generation of young cricketers, and has since developed into one of the Gold Coast's most promising female coaches, now leading representative girls' teams and helping shape the future of women's cricket.
Now, she returns to where it all began as the leader of our women's program.
Megan's appointment is about so much more than naming a coach.
It's a powerful reminder to every girl and woman at our club that there is a pathway. From your very first Cricket session... to representative cricket... to coaching... to leading a senior program.
If you can see it, you can be it.
Making this story even more special, Megan will coach alongside her father, Gareth Roberts, our Head Senior Coach. Together they become what we believe is a first anywhere—a father and daughter leading a club's senior men's and women's programs side by side.
What an incredible example of what family, community and cricket are all about.
Congratulations, Megs!
We couldn't be prouder to have one of our own leading the next chapter of women's cricket at The Bay.
The future is bright. The future is homegrown.
Welcome, Coach!
