First Grade
First Grade had the Bye this week and a chance to recharge the batteries.

2nd Grade

Under clear skies and with storms not scheduled until 6-7pm, round 6 of the season presented a clear opportunity for the Bay 2s to keep our momentum rolling and secure points as we hosted Beaudesert. The mid-week rain had seen the outfield green up and as we played our ritualistic game of touch footy in the warmup, Loxton 1 was looking a million dollars. After losing the toss we were sent into the field with the Beaudesert skipper opting to bat. It felt like it wasnât a particularly bad toss to lose and with the bowling stocks available to us this week, the hope was to skittle the visitors and chase a low total.
Ctrl V âStevie Watson takes the first wicketâ. As usual Stevie started us off by claiming our fist wicket just four balls into the innings when one of the Beauie openers chipped an easy catch to sub fielder Jake Schultz (1/4). George âHazlegodâ Edney opened from the northern end and with the wind at his tail looked ever-likely to make another breakthrough of his own. But it was Stevie âWeeklyâ Watson (2/29 from 6) who claimed the second wicket thanks to a 50/50 LBW which left the opposition floundering at 2/10. Just as we thought we might roll right through them, Beaudesert put on a stylish partnership to stabilise their innings before Tom Gossett (1/19 from 8) got into the action by claiming another LBW as the visitors fell to 3/53. Toying with the idea of dragging George after a wayward 6th over, I decided to back him to pick up the all-important wicket of Captain Gittins. Thankfully George obliged and duly snicked off the Beaudesert Skipper as he bowled out his 8 overs straight returning the superb figures of 1/28. Fresh into the side this week, Monib hurled down a fiery but brief spell of 1/21 from 3 and claimed a wicket just before the break to see Beaudesert enter the go to drinks at 5/79. After the break Harry Sullivan replaced Monib at the northern end while Tom Gossett finished out his measly spell from the southern end. Harry (2/21 from 5) got into his rhythm as always and after he claimed two important wickets the visitors were well and truly teetering at 7/102. Jawid capped off a superb bowling performance as he cleaned up the tail to claim the exceptional figures of 3/4 from just 2.3 overs. Notable mention to Nathan Proctor who attempted to claim a âfivefaâ after he picked up 5 catches behind the stumps. A tidy bowling performance saw Beaudesert dismissed for just 125 inside 33 overs.
Knowing that small totals can sometimes be the most difficult to chase, we opted to keep our batting lineup as stable as possible. James Stirling made his debut for the Bay 2s replacing myself to partner Brendo at the top of the order. Brendo 0(4) was out cheaply this week to a good catch at mid on and after Jack Hocart copped a shocking decision (adjudged caught behind) the Bay collapse looked well and truly on the cards as we slumped to 2/11. Thankfully Tommy G and Stirlo put on a handy 30 run partnership before James fell for a well-made 15(23). Monib replaced James as he and Tom looked to steer us towards safe waters. But every time we started to look comfortable we stumbled and when Tom Gossett 46(33) was dismissed we were still some 41 runs short and 4 wickets down. Monib 18(37) fell shortly after Tom, Austin âADHDâ Billing clipped one to mid wicket for just 9(15) and when Proctor came and went without scoring, we still required 15 runs with just the 3 wickets in hand. Thankfully, Jawid once again saved the Bay 2s as he whacked us to safety with a brutal 17*(11) leaving me with the easy job of threading one through cover to secure a victory and the accompanying bonus point for chasing the target within 30 overs.
This week we delivered some high-quality bowling that was supported by a fantastic fielding performance. Despite securing the win and picking up the bonus point, we never were really able to feel super confident in our chase. Frequent wickets hampered our opportunity to administer an absolute trashing to a side that has some real quality to it. With Southport Labrador also securing points in round 6, the stage is set for a second grade top of the table clash against our closest rivals as we travel south to Allied Drive.

RBCC V Broadbeach
3rd Grade
On Saturday we had the pleasure of playing on our wonderful 2nd oval, After realising our umpire was sent to another ground and us having to fend for ourselves lost the toss and were sent into bowl,
We opened the bowling with Cam Davies and Josh Hoare, Cam bowled really well bowling his 8 overs straight without breaking a sweat leading from the front taking a wicket in his 3rd over, Josh bowling into the wind bowled exceptional bowling his 8 straight to finish with figures of 4 for 25 off 8 Next came on was Austin and Harker these two bowled a fairly tight spell keeping Broadbeach to only 49 runs off 16 overs. Harker finishing his 8 overs 3 wickets for 23 runs, Will Altass came on for Austin and Mitch Mcphee for Harker both bowling a couple of overs each with Altass taking the wicket to finish the broady men off with us bowling them out for 129 with their 10th wicket partnership earning them 30 runs.
With Hamza needing to leave early we opened the batting with him and Taika Hoare, Taika spooned one to mid on in the 2nd over, Which bought Chris Bartlett to the crease Bartlett and Hamza batted sensationally with Hamza hitting them all over the park getting 70 off 63 balls with 11 4s and 1 6, and Bartlett 18 off 26 with 3 4s, Next brings in Angus and Lucas Frazer, Gussy with a steady 10 not out off 23 Balls and Runaway bay chasing a double bonus point win Lucas picking the fielder in the deep for 5 off 7 including a 4, This brings Mitch Mcphee to the crease and he wasnât going to die wondering hitting 15 not out off 7 balls including 2 massive 6s
We chased Broadbeachâs total in 22 overs and a very good win for the bay

Matty Edwards claims Saturdayâs Meat Tray

Runaway Bay Navy Innings Batting first,
Runaway Bay Navy set a strong total of 6/238 from 36 overs. Opener Jamie Phillips anchored the innings brilliantly, scoring 71 (100 balls, 8 fours). He combined well with Mat Lewis, who added an aggressive 42 (31 balls, 7 fours, 1 six) to keep the momentum high. Nathan Rudd chipped in with a quick 29 (26 balls, 5 fours, 1 six), while Jack Holmes provided a late boost with a rapid 31 (18 balls, 4 fours) to push the total beyond 230. Top Scorers: ⢠Jamie Phillips - 71
Best Bowling (Runaway Bay Navy): Bradley Collett: 6 overs, 3/20 (Econ 3.33) Sean Clark (c): 6 overs, 2/14 (Econ 2.33) Jack Holmes: 6 overs, 1/13 (Econ 2.16) * Hamish Canning: 6 overs, 1/31
Runaway Bay Navy dominated with both bat and ball to claim a 93-run victory. Jamie Phillips' patient 71 set the foundation, while the bowling unit - led by Bradley Collett and captain Sean Clark â sealed the win with clinical precision. Player of the Match: Jamie Phillips (Runaway Bay Navy) - 71 runs (100 balls)

4th Grade Orange

4s Orange vs Mudgeeraba
So once again 4s Orange were on the road playing this time at Corbwood 3 another very small ground.
Having a mostly settled side the last few weeks we did welcome a couple of players in for this game, James Munro for his 1st game with us & welcomed back Birdy from his Fiji adventures,
With Col being a few mins late due to having to work, Chris took the toss & proceeded to lose it so we were in the field.
Mudgee being 4th on the ladder, were pretty confident especially coming off a strong win against surfers and playing on a small home ground,
but we had other ideas, we got off to a great start lead by our young opening bowlers Will Secombe and Josh Foenander who took it to early batters with a great fast bowling partnership that the batters didnât have any answers for,
The batters were going hard thinking they would get away with it being such a small ground and certainly did get some luck but the boys reduced them to 3/37 in the 8th over with their main man (J.Day) back in the sheds cheap,
After such a good start from Will 2/17 (4) & Josh 1/23 (4) on a ground that par was 300+ we knew we had to keep the pressure on, and put the pressure on we did with James Munro & Birdy coming into the attack and picking up from where the openers left off, both bowling very well tearing out the heart of the Mudgee batting lineup, both boys taking multiple wickets & keeping them to 7/105 at the 18 over halfway point, well below par score with the wickets lost.
Birdy grabbed his 3rd wicket straight after drinks to finish his spell with 3/45 off 6 with one of the tail enders getting away with a couple closed eye swipes in his last over to blow out his figures,
And James finished his 6 over spell with 2/35, the boys had set us up to keep them to a low score but you canât get ahead of yourself in these situations as they can get away from you if u take your foot off the throat.
Noah McQueen was brought on and did what he has been doing all year and immediately had an impact with a fantastic quicker ball he clean bowled the dangerous Jayden Humphrey who had whacked a couple 6s, he followed this up after Jack Castle (0/3)bowled a tight over from the other end, by wrapping up the innings and claiming the last wicket to grab an impressive 2/4 off 9 balls.
Mudgeeraba were bowled out for just 129 on Corbwood 3 in just 22.3 overs what a fantastic effort and credit to all bowlers and the fielders who had backed them up brilliantly with a lot of great saves.
So after a quick selfie photo shoot for Birdy with all the Mudgee boys, Birdy & James strode to the wicket with the plan to get us off to a good start and on our way to a memorable victory, which is exactly what they did putting on 37 before Birdy (18) picked out the bloke on the long rope and hit a full toss straight down his throat.
Jack castle came in and continued on with James putting together a solid 41 before Jack unfortunately went for a well made 14 with us on 2/78 off 15 overs the chase was well in hand, Jamie came in and tragically missed his first ball and was adjudged LBW by the skipper as he slowly trudged off this proved to be a great sacrifice by J as it brought Josh to the crease who was pretty keen to get the game over with,
As he did a few weeks ago against Surfers Josh went berserk smashing 40no off just 12 balls he was on track to break his own 15 ball 50 from the surfers game but ran out of runs to chase, he smashed 5 huge 6s,
He even managed to momentarily stop the 2s game on Corbwood 1 with multiple consecutive strikes into the middle of their ground,
Meanwhile with this carnage going on James was patiently watching from the other end with a real chance of being stranded short of his own well made 50, thankfully he managed to get the strike and hit a boundary to bring up a great 50 & carry his bat for an extremely well made 54no (51) to go with his bowling effort, a fantastic allround game in his first for our side,
The chase only took 18.3 overs and was an extremely impressive performance across the board from the boys against a quality opposition showing our rapid improvement every week as we gel as a team and will only get better each week, sounding a warning to the competition that Bay boys are not to be messed with.
Our next assignment is surprisingly another road trip this time to Elanora state school to face Burleigh, with an opportunity to put back to back wins on the board.
See you all next week GO BAY!!!

Burleigh Too Strong, but The Bay Show Plenty of Fight
It was another sun-soaked Saturday on the Gold Coast as Runaway Bay took to the field in their latest Division 2 clash â a day filled with big hitting, brave efforts, and plenty of Bay spirit.
Bay Bats Blaze Away
Winning the toss and batting first, Runaway Bay came out swinging. The openers set the tone with positive intent before the middle order took charge. Brad Atkins led the assault with a commanding 70, timing the ball sweetly and finding the boundary with ease.
He was well supported by Peter Crittenden (37) who anchored the innings early, and Garred Birrell (31) who added some much-needed stability through the middle overs. Arron Quine chipped in a lively 46, ensuring The Bay pushed past the 200 mark.
Despite being bowled out in the 32nd over for 245, it was a competitive total for a 36-over fixture â and spirits were high heading into the second innings.
Tough Day in the Field
With runs on the board, The Bay were hopeful of defending their total, but the Burleigh batsmen had other ideas. Their top order launched a confident chase, finding gaps and rotating strike with precision.
The bowlers toiled hard, with Arron Quine once again standing tall â claiming the only wicket with tidy figures of 6 overs, 1 for 34. Despite tight spells and strong energy in the field, Burleigh kept control and reached the target one wicket down in the 33rd over.
Eyes Forward
It wasnât the result The Bay were after, but there were plenty of positives â a strong total, a standout batting display, and glimpses of what this side is capable of when they click.
As the skipper said after the game, âWeâll take the lessons, bring the same intent next week, and make amends â thatâs the Bay way.â
Heads high, lads. The runs are flowing â and that next win is just around the corner.
Go The Bay! đđđ

6th Grade

On Saturday the 8th Runaway Bay 6th Grade hosted Broadbeach at Sam Loxton 6.
After Our Captain Chris losing all but one coin toss this season the team voted for a new toss captain. Darren stepped up and what do you know he won and we batted first. Both openers got us off to a steady start. That was until Heath Slater unselfishness tore his calf muscle just to give others a bat! That brought Chris Schultz and Dale Rachow to the crease. They formed one amazing partnership which lasted over 200 runs. Chris ended up 194* of 90 balls and Dale 109* off 65 balls. Final Score 3-352.
352 on a fast Sam Loxton outfield was a total that could possibly be chased down. Until 6th grades star owning Bowler Harrison Rachow opened with one of his amazing opening spells. He removed both openers. This included a bowled that sent middle stump cartwheeling back. Harrison is definitely a star on the rise. The rest of the bowling attack chipped in with vital wickets Including one great run out. Broadbeach 9/228
Harrison Rachow 2/25
Matthew Edwards 1/46
Sam Brooks 1/54
Sameera Surendra 1/36
Darren Re Dmayne 1/21
Mark Bromley 2/37
My Player of the match would have to be Harrison Rachow. Just as Broadbeach openers were looking dangerous, he delivered 2 amazing balls to remove them both.

đ Mark your calendars, gather your crew, and letâs make this season one to remember!

Unlocking FrogBox Highlights with PlayHQ and LillyPad
This season, the Runaway Bay Cricket Club is excited to bring more of our cricket to life through FrogBox live streaming and highlight packages. Weâll be aiming to stream as many games as possible across Premier Cricket, Veterans, Juniors, and Womenâs cricket, showcasing the talent and spirit of our club to family, friends, and supporters everywhere.
To make the most of this technology, we need the help of our scorers. The key lies in how we use PlayHQ alongside FrogBoxâs highlight program, LillyPad. Hereâs how it works: When live scoring in PlayHQ, youâll notice a button on the screen labelled âBowler Running Inâ*. This button should be pressed just beforeâor right asâthe bowler begins their approach. Doing this triggers the recording of that particular ball, ensuring any exciting moment (like a wicket, a six, or a boundary) is captured for our highlight reel. By consistently pressing this button, our scorers help create accurate and exciting highlight packages that not only celebrate individual performances but also promote our teams and club culture. With everyoneâs contribution, we can build a library of memorable moments that players and supporters will be able to watch back and enjoy for years to come. Letâs work together to make this season one to rememberâboth on and off the field.

Hudson Board was drawn out for the Members draw on Saturday Night. It has now Jackpotted now to $700. Remember the Members Draw is drawn after the 6;30pm March Reports and jackpots $100 every week
Over 50âs Orange

First of all i would like to thank the Lads from the 50s Navy side that
helped us fill a side in Orange to play Mudgee due to over 10 - player
unavailability .
The Bay won the Toss and Elected to Bat against a very strong Mudgee
side full of Hollywood Movie Stars .
Chris and Lee opened up and went very quickly , Col and Jason stopped in
the Middle of the Pitch for a slow dance together with Col heading of to
the Concussion bin with Blood running down his face .
Things moved very fast from there with Mudgee dismissing the Bay for 57
with a few very questionable LBW decisions .
Quick 10 minute break and a fired up Captains Speech before we walked
on and it was game on .
Hay and Harker opened the Bowling and we could smell Blood with the
Hollywood Movie Stars under the Hammer .
Harker struck then Hay and Harker again with the Hollywoods 3/38 then
Hay again with another LBW at 4/51 .
Harker had Morton swinging like a number - 11 under pure frustration
and dodging 5 - LBW Decisions & a dropped catch with the Bay Captain
gently whispering encouragement into his ear .
The Hollywoods chased us down in the 11th over at 4/58 .
Yep we got SMASHED , but those 11 overs pulled 11 guys together that
was pure cricketing magic & we could all smell blood having each others
backs .
Thats Bay HEART .
Another 50 runs and it was anyones game .
Great fight Lads & one very proud Captain .
Cheers .
Matty .

Unfortunately injuries and representation at the Over 60âs took its toll on our numbers this week resulting in us having to forfeit the Over 50âs Navy.
Womenâs Div 2

Runaway Bay Div 2 Ladies vs Surfers â Match Report
After a night of heavy storms and rain, the team headed down to Surfers to find the ground still firm but wet, and the air thick with humidity. Conditions were always going to be tricky, but spirits were high.
I lost the toss again, but we were more than happy to bat first! Shana and Nic opened the innings and faced a challenging pitch where the ball skidded through, aided by some quality bowling. Despite that, both managed to find the boundary a few times, giving us a solid start.
Ruby and Amber followed, continuing to battle tough conditions. Ruby shone with a quick-fire 25 runs both girls running quick between the wickets and keeping the momentum alive. Georgia, Jade, Billie, and Cath all chipped in steadily, keeping the scoreboard ticking. After a few sighters, G found rhythm and finished in style her last four balls went 4, 4, 4, 6! Thanks to a gritty team effort, we posted a credible 5/199.
Heading out to defend, the goal was clear: keep it tight, take chances, and stay positive. The team delivered brilliantly, limiting extras, maintaining sharp fielding, and seizing opportunities. Ruby capped off her all-round performance with 3 wickets and deservingly the player of the match honour, while G was rock-solid with a couple. Shana, Georgia, and Cath also struck, and some excellent catches in the outfield helped us hold off a Surfersâ late surge. Despite heavy hitting at the end, we restricted them to 8/191.
A hard-fought win in tough conditions, proving that persistence and positive talk pay off. Every small contribution added up to a big team victory. Our batting has been our strength but today our bowling and fielding shone!!
Thank you to Kelly, Kirsten and Gareth and all our regular supporters for coming down to watch and cheer on our game. Much appreciated
Undefeated after threeâgo the Navy girls!
