Under 11’s
RBCC V Helensvale
Under 11s
Our mighty Under 11s had a home game on our lovely number 3 oval our captain of the day was Arthur and Arthur won the toss and chose to have a bat ,Before taking the field we had a moment silence for the young man Ben Austin who lost his life in a cricket accident in Melbourne
Arthur opened up with himself and Callum, Both boys confidence blazing walked out to the crease hitting a couple of boundaries each and running really well between the wickets Arthur finishing on 10 off his 15 and Callum 13, These lads retiring Bringing in Zac and Harry , Zac started off the day a tad nervous but I tell you what it didn’t show at the crease as he hit his highest score and the highest score for his team on Saturday with 14 off his 15 balls with 2 4s, Harry batted really well as well copping a nasty ball on the hand but pushing through for his team to finish with 5. Vansh and Reuben were the next pair in both contributing really well with Reuben hitting 11 off his 15 with 2 4s and Vansh 7, Ziggy and Alex came in at the end both rotating strike and hitting a 4 each Ziggy ended up on 6 and Alex 5.
We went out To bowl everyone bowled really well and kept there spirits high with some great banter and one liners from Alex, We only got 3 wickets on the weekend due to some great batting from the opposition and some luck that didn’t go our way, All in all the team were excellent and our player of the day was Ziggy

Remembering Ben Austin – A Tragic Loss for the Cricketing Community
The entire cricketing community was deeply saddened this week by the tragic passing of Ben Austin, a much-loved player from the Ferntree Gully Cricket Club in Melbourne, Victoria.
Ben’s untimely death occurred as the result of a freak accident — a devastating reminder of how fragile life can be, even in the sport we all love. While words can do little to ease the pain felt by his family, friends, and teammates, we at Runaway Bay Cricket Club extend our deepest condolences to everyone affected by this tragedy.
Moments like this remind us of the importance of safety in cricket. Whether it’s wearing the correct protective gear, maintaining equipment, or following ground and training protocols, we all share the responsibility of keeping each other safe.
Our thoughts are with the Ferntree Gully Cricket Club and the broader cricket community during this difficult time.

Under 13’s Division 2

🏏 Junior Cricket Match Report: Runaway Bay U13s Div 2 vs Palm Beach U13 Gold
Match: Under 13 Division 2, Round 4
Teams: Palm Beach U13 Gold (PB) vs. Runaway Bay Seagulls U13 Div 2 (RB)
Venue: South Oval
This week we played at South Oval and our skipper won our first toss for the season!
We elected to bowl first with the Bay putting in a solid performance with the ball, restricting Palm Beach to 5-98 off their 25 overs.
Our team kept the pressure on with both bowling and fielding, sharing the wickets and restricting Palm Beach to under 98 runs.
Hugo was the standout bowler, delivering a brilliant spell of 2 wickets for just 6 runs off 4 overs. Fletcher, Charlie, and Jackson each chipped in with a wicket.
Hudson bowled very tight going for 10 runs off his 4, with added pressure from Maggie 0 for 16, Lachlan and Nash both 0 for 12 with very economical bowling allowed the other guys to pickup some wickets.
Nash shared the keeping for the second part of our game, and he did a remarkable job having not kept for a while.
When it was our turn with the bat we chased down the target with confidence, finishing on 4-132 in 22 overs, at a healthy run rate of 6.00.
The innings was anchored by our newest opening pair with a 78 run partnership, Hugo (40 runs) and Hudson (27 runs), both retired not out after reaching the mandatory ball count.
Maggie provided excellent stability at the end holding her nerve after 3 quick runouts, finishing on 17* not out managing to make her highest score, ensuring our team comfortably passed the target with 6 wickets in hand.
Overall was a solid performance without any training this week!

Under 13’s Division 1

Day 2 Bay v Southport/hvale
The boys were set to give it their all to chase down a pretty handy score.
From early on we knew it was going to be tough with Southport producing some quality line and length bowling.
They struck early and put the pressure on, we steadied however each time we looked settled Southport managed to create another opportunity.
Archie and Alfie stood up towards the end of the innings. Great to see the boys building confidence out in the middle.
Was a great opportunity to face some quality bowling, the boys will be better for it.
Southport had us all out and sent us in for another crack. This was cool as we thought the game was done. Time in the middle is crucial and going out with a goal to hang on and bat for time will set them up for later in the season.
Lots of positives and can’t wait for this weekend.
Thanks everyone for making it happen!
Massive congrats to Kade Jameson, 500 run club! Well deserved mate. Love the way you go about it!!

Open Turf Division 1

Runaway Bay Seagulls – Second Innings Report
Match: Queens Open Div 1 – Two Day+
Venue: Arthur Angove Park / Greg Chaplin Oval (Queens CC)
Date: 25 Oct & 1 Nov 2025
Result: Runaway Bay Seagulls all out for 152 in 45.3 overs
Target: 208
Overview
Chasing 208 for victory, Runaway Bay Seagulls fell short, bowled out for 152, succumbing to disciplined bowling and sharp fielding from Queens CC. Despite several promising starts, the Seagulls couldn’t build a lasting partnership, eventually losing by 56 runs in a hard-fought second innings.
Batting Summary
Top Order Struggles:
The Seagulls were under early pressure after the loss of Stephen Watson (3) the previous week and Lucy Logan (8) inside the opening overs. Tight bowling from Hunter Hampton and Bryce Pampling kept the run rate in check.Middle Order Resistance:
Taika Hoare (28 off 64) showed patience and composure, anchoring the innings while wickets fell around him. Toby Hudson (14 off 40) and Flynn Richardson (8 off 30) tried to steady things, but both were dismissed just as they began to settle.Late Fightback:
Aidan Long (17 off 21) and A.J. Francesconi (28 off 43) injected some life into the innings with positive intent, playing freely against the spinners. Francesconi’s attacking strokes briefly raised hopes of a chase revival, but once he fell at 152, the innings folded quickly.Extras:
Queens CC were slightly erratic, conceding 36 extras, including 18 wides and 5 no-balls, but still maintained enough control to close out the innings.Runaway Bay Seagulls showed determination but lacked the partnerships needed to chase down a competitive target. Their bowlers had earlier kept them in the game by restricting Queens CC to 208, but the batting lineup couldn’t sustain momentum needed.
There were positives in the disciplined approach of Taika and AJ, and the fighting spirit shown throughout suggests this side remains competitive heading deeper into the season. Improving top-order stability and converting starts into partnerships will be key for upcoming fixtures.
Final Scores:
Result: Queens CC won by 56 runs

🎬 Movie Under the Stars – A Spooktacular Night at Runaway Bay Cricket Club!
Last Friday night, the Runaway Bay Cricket Club teamed up with the Gold Coast City Council for a Movie Under the Stars event — proudly supported by Councillor Shelly Curtis.
In true Halloween fashion, a storm was brewing just as the event kicked off! While we worried the weather might scare a few people away, a brave and enthusiastic crowd still turned out, ready for a spooky good time.
Before the movie began, the kids enjoyed some ghostly games and Halloween fun out on Sam Loxton Aussielec Oval. Once the skies cleared, everyone settled in under the stars to enjoy the classic supernatural comedy Ghostbusters — the perfect choice for a Halloween movie night!
A huge thank you goes out to Councillor Shelly Curtis and the Gold Coast City Council for their support, and to our incredible team of volunteers who helped make the night such a success.
Despite the thunderclouds, it turned into a memorable community night filled with laughter, popcorn, and a little bit of spooky magic.
We can’t wait to see you all at the next Runaway Bay Cricket Club event!

🎃 Spooktacular Fun at the Bay’s Halloween Party! 👻
Saturday night saw the Bay come alive with ghosts, ghouls, and plenty of laughter at our annual Runaway Bay Cricket Club Halloween Party!
Just like the night before, storms were predicted—and most senior games were called off early—but that didn’t stop our Bay family. Those who braved the weather and got into costume were rewarded with a spooktacular night full of fun and community spirit.
The creativity on display was next-level! From creepy classics to clever creations, the effort everyone put into their costumes was simply brilliant. Our younger Bay members were having the time of their lives—playing games, showing off their outfits, and, of course, filling up on lollies (and maybe a few extra!).
A huge thank you goes out to everyone who dressed up, turned up, and helped make the night such a success. Halloween at the Bay is always a fantastic family event, and this year was no exception. Your enthusiasm and community spirit are what make this club so special.
Until next year… keep those costumes handy—you never know when the next Bay bash might creep up on you! 🕸️🦇

Unlocking FrogBox Highlights with PlayHQ and LillyPad
This season, the Runaway Bay Cricket Club is excited to bring more of our cricket to life through FrogBox live streaming and highlight packages. We’ll be aiming to stream as many games as possible across Premier Cricket, Veterans, Juniors, and Women’s cricket, showcasing the talent and spirit of our club to family, friends, and supporters everywhere.
To make the most of this technology, we need the help of our scorers. The key lies in how we use PlayHQ alongside FrogBox’s highlight program, LillyPad. Here’s how it works: When live scoring in PlayHQ, you’ll notice a button on the screen labelled “Bowler Running In”*. This button should be pressed just before—or right as—the bowler begins their approach. Doing this triggers the recording of that particular ball, ensuring any exciting moment (like a wicket, a six, or a boundary) is captured for our highlight reel. By consistently pressing this button, our scorers help create accurate and exciting highlight packages that not only celebrate individual performances but also promote our teams and club culture. With everyone’s contribution, we can build a library of memorable moments that players and supporters will be able to watch back and enjoy for years to come. Let’s work together to make this season one to remember—both on and off the field.
