1st grade match report 11/10/25
A great day of cricket for the bay started with Jake winning the toss and decided to bat on a very flat pitch. Knowing the Par score would be very high today, Yas (31 off 36) and Talha (42 off 54) started us off very well with a 61 run stand getting the bay off to a flyer. Billy (122* of 111) was the star of the bay batting though most of the innings, with a range of patience and power hitting though the middle and end of the innings. Well batted Billy.
Notable mentions include Corey (25 off 39) who put on a very large partnership with Billy, 108 runs. Posting 4-272, we were confident that if we bowled well we would win as chasing a run per ball for 45 overs is never easy. Helensvale go of to a good start, losing their first wicket for 98, but we kept them under the radar, now regularly taking wickets through the middle, and after securing a few key wickets we bowled them out for 249.
The pick of the bowlers who made sure we won this tight game were Ted (9 overs 2/46), Freddie (7.2 overs 2/48) and Monib (9 overs 3/42) Overall we were happy with the performance, and to beat Helensvale as they have been a very good team for a long time. Always a few things to improve on, but overall a great day of cricket at a great and well prepared ground.

2nd Grade

Round 2 of the competition saw the Bay 2s travelling out to the heat trap that is Hession oval to take on the formidable Helensvale Hawks.
After a brief pitch inspection and successfully winning the toss, we decided to bat on a track that looked flat, hard and unlikely to deteriorate. Buoyed by his top 6 winning the pre-match game of touch footy, Austin Billing strapped on the pads to join Brendan Roberts at the crease to commence proceedings. Sadly not long after marking centre, Austin was back on his way after being bowled with the score at just 1/2. Brendo was out a short time later and when Jack Hocart and then Sam Heathwood also fell cheaply, we were well and truly teetering at 4/13.
As I waddled to the crease, I was met by Tom Gossett who had a stern look of determination on his face. We agreed that we desperately needed a partnership. I interpreted this as 'don't get out and I'll score all the runs Patty'. Sure enough and despite the pressure, Tom commenced the fightback by belting the opening bowler southward, over the rope, over the fence and one bounce into Tibouchina Court. Some tight bowling from the Helensvale spinners slowed the scoring here and there but in between, Tom carried on his merry way, bringing up his 50 with the teams score at just 75! 'Well that was good fun', I mused to myself whilst plodding off the field, having only contributed 26 in a partnership of 120 runs. Nathan Proctor came to the, the score at 5/133 with the first task of getting Tommy to his ton and securing us all free beers. Sadly Tom didn't to the 'team thing' and fell for a brutal, brilliant and aggressive 96 from just 90 deliveries. Sadly Nath then Harry went cheaply and with a flurry of strokes from everyone favourite educator, Mr. Davies we limped our way to 175 before George valiantly ran himself out to give us all and extended lunchbreak. 175 didn't sound like enough but it was a truly remarkable fightback from 4/13, led by Tommy.
Knowing the quality and aggression of the Helensvale side, the boys suspected that we probably needed in 220 to be truly safe. That being said, we took the field know that early wickets could see us well in the game. Stevie opened up with an uncharacteristically wayward Harry Sullivan. The Helensvale boys began to get away from us and when their new junior prodigy Roley Thomas pulled a short-of-a-length ball from Harry over mid-on for 6, we could be forgiven for letting our heads drop a bit. The chins didn't stay low for too long though as Stevie Watson drew the false stroke from Thompson who fell to a tidy catch by Brendo at backward point.
With the going past the 60 mark, it was time to get Mr Reliable, Cam Davies into the attack. Cam's figures of 3-22(7) got us back into a game where we had no right to do so. He started by removing Benji and it looked like it was all on Cam's shoulders. Clearly Cam's wicket upset Stevie a little, who responded by shooting the (Liam) Sherriff with an unplayable delivery that nipped back to clip the top of the left-handers off stump. Pressure built from tidy overs bowled by Tom Gossett brought a few soft dismissals and all of a sudden we were well in the game with Helensvale slumping to 7 for 97. To say Helensvale's Skipper and Mitchell Parks played well from here would be an understatement. With the run rate creeping up Stoj, along within his young tailender held their nerves and refused to let the pressure get to them. With a flourish of strokes in the 35th over, Helensvale surpassed our meagre total with 3 wickets in hand and dashed our hopes of a an unlikely victory.
This was a really high quality match played in great spirit, despite the pressure proportionate to it's tightness and oppressive conditions. While we were a little wayward with the ball the damage was done in our first innings by losing too many early wickets. 175 was simply never going to be enough against a quality side in batter-friendly conditions.
Plenty of positives to take out of this one. Lets use the sting from this one to spur us on next week at home against Mudgee fellas.

3rd Grade Match Report
On Saturday our third grade side travelled out to Riverstone crossing for believe it or to play a home game on synthetic against Southport, Due to our home ground being used for a touch tournament

From there we went on Angus joined Bartlett at the crease for a whopping 212 run partnership, Angus doing a magnificent job rotating strike for an hour or so before seeing beach balls hitting a massive 101 off 109 Balls with his first ever 6 and wait he hit 3 of them bartlett did What bartlett does an amazing job once again hitting 122 off 83
Once these boys were done the tone was set and Harker and Raffles went in hitting 18 and a 16 off not too many. Which took our total to 310 for 7 wicket a tremendous effort from the two tonne makers

Match Report: RBCC Navy 4th Grade vs BRCC 4th Grade
The 4th Grade fixture between Runaway Bay Navy (RBCC) and Broadbeach (BRCC) ended in a tough loss for the Bay boys, as Broadbeach piled on 4/278 before restricting Runaway Bay to 238 all out.
Bowling first, Runaway Bay struggled to contain Broadbeach’s batting lineup. Sean Clark led from the front with 2 wickets for 70 runs off 6 overs, while Jack Holmes was the standout for attempting to restrict the batsmen, returning 1 for 21 off 6 overs with a maiden. Will Secombe also bowled tightly, picking up 1 for 31 off 6, and Despite their efforts, Broadbeach’s top order proved too strong, setting an imposing total of 4/278 of their 36 overs.
In reply, Runaway Bay showed fight with the bat. Jim Phillips was outstanding, crafting a classy 103 off 85 balls that kept his side in contention. Jamie Phillips supported well with 57 off 59, and Flynn Richardson added a quick 27 off 27 in the middle order. Nathan Rudd also chipped in with a brisk 20 off 18 at the top, but wickets fell steadily after the key partnerships.
Despite the loss, there were positives for Runaway Bay — especially Jim Phillips’ century and the disciplined spells from Jack Holmes and Will Secombe. The side will be looking to build on those performances heading into next week’s game.

Rd 2 vs Coomera at Gainsborough Parklands,
This week we were playing at Gainsborough Parklands in Pimpama, which other then the windy conditions the ground was in good nick just a bit of a walk to get out to the middle.
After our bad experience of round 1 the boys were keen to have a better day,
Once Again we won the Toss, so had a Bat,
Birdy joining Jamie this week at the top of the Order, the boys started off well putting on 33 before Jamie (2) fell,
Col joined birdy and they put together a partnership before bird unfortunately nicked one and was well caught in the slips for a well made 42 off 31 with 6 boundaries, he has started the season on fire,
2/80 turned into 3/80 when Col (31) was given caught behind the next over,
Chris castle (9), Jack Castle (7) & Matt Baker all came and went which left us at 6 for 114 and looking on the edge of being bowled out cheaply but enter Brad collett who joined Wolfy at the crease and the rescue mission began with the boys batting beautifully putting on a 60 run partnership taking us to 7 /174 when brad gloved one up in the air to the keeper 3rd ball of the last over, Krish came out and did all he could do which was swing hard unfortunately lost his middle stump, Will Altass strode to the wicket with purpose and informed Wolfy he was on 49 with 2 balls to go, with great confidence Will smashed the ball back over the bowlers head 1 bounce over the boundary fantastic shot but unfortunately left no chance for Wolfy to get his half century but was still a fantastic innings by Stephen Wolf 49 n.o 7 boundaries certainly saving our bacon and giving us a chance to defend our score of 178,
We took to the field with some optimism that we could get the job done,
Will and Birdy opened the bowling, both boys bowled brilliantly well Will picked up 2 early wickets and finishing his spell 2/27 off 6ovs, and Birdy was extremely miserly not giving up a run til his 4th over,
he finished up taking 1/12 off 6, fantastic all round game from the great man,
having them 3 for 28 we thought we were right on top but Coomera had other ideas and fought back well until a change of bowling bringing Brad Collett into the attack and very first ball he removed the dangerous left handed who had been hitting boundaries at will, 4/102
Brad followed this up by also taking the wicket of the bloke who had scored a ton the week before for coomera when wolfy took a great catch on the fence,
5/102 they needed 77 off 92 balls very getable on a the fast outfield , advantage Coomera,
But the boys dug very deep and threw ourselves around in the field and kept ourselves in the contest with great spells from Brad 2/28 from 6 ov & Jamie Lennix 09/18 from 6 ov,
with 8 overs to go the skipper made a big call and gave the ball to our young off spinner Noah Mcqueen and he bowled an extremely impressive spell that was way above his age and experience particularly the 2nd last over of the match with Coomera requiring 13 runs from 12 balls with 5 wickets in hand the game seemed theirs for the taking but Noah bowled a brilliant over conceding just 5 singles to leave Wolfy with 8 runs to defend in the final over, Noah finished 0/18 off 4 brilliant overs under enormous pressure great job Noah,
Over to Wolfy who had a great day Batting brilliantly to get us in the game took a fantastic catch and was now bowling a great spell to win us the game, and win us the game he did bowling an almost unplayable over conceding just 2 runs to get us over the line for our first win of the season and massive turn around from the week before, It was a an amazing effort from all the boys we dug so deep to get it done . Was a fantastic win and on wards to next week vs Palm Beach GO BAY!!

We welcomed Bonogin to our homeground somewhere between Cairns & Innisfail, for a club with 27 home grounds, you’d think we could possibly play on one of them!! During the off season our recruiting department decided the talent pool in Oz was relatively thin so they ventured across the ditch to a little town called Foxton Beach to speak to a potential recruit. After negotiating his contract, Brad Adkins had agreed to terms for the year. Our part time skipper won his 2nd toss in 4 years & we chose to bat first. Conan & the old fella strode to the crease & after setting the platrorm for a big score, both sacrificed their wickets for the good of the team, Conan departing fisrt for 14 followed by Jamie for 15, the ultimate team players. Brad strode to the crease following Conan’s dismissal & Bizza not long after. They were brutal, pounding their hapless attack to all parts before Bizza was dismissed for 43 from 33, sharing a 123 run partnership with Brad. That brought Azza to the crease & the carnage continued sharing an 82 run partnership with Brad, both finishing not out, Azz 44 from 26 & our international recruit, Brad 129 from 121. Our score after 36 overs 3/254, a handy score on a big ground. Our turn to bowl, opening with Schuey & Grossy. Bonogin got off to a flyer taking 12 off the first over, with Grossy bowling a maiden from the other end. The trend continued so Josh was introduced into the attack. He had them jumping around with his pace until he decided to change to around the wicket & the carnage continued from the north end while Grossy was still racking up the maidens from the other end. Their 1st wicket fell for 18 with our international recruit taking a sharp catch in the gully prompting him to say “ are you Aussies gunna join in or do i have to do everything”!! Nate was introduced into the attack & bowled tight without luck, at drinks they were 1/103 with plenty to do after drinks. Our leg spin twins Conan & Azz took up the attack & 3 quick wickets fell, reducing them to 4/123, still needing 11 an over to win. With our bowling stocks depleted the skipper decided to have a bowl & you could hear the opposition saying “we’re a chance now” & they were right with Bizz bowling them back into the game finishing with 0/61 from his 6. It was’nt until the skipper turned to the oldest of the Foenander triplets in Andy that the scoring halted & we got the W by 13 runs. Pick of the attack was Grossy with 1/10 from 6, the other wicket takers were Azz with 1/38 & Conan 2/46. A little close for comfort but we found a way again. Cheers JH. This week we we headed to Pimpama for our first official home game of the year. Unfortunately we lost the toss (1/2) and were put out to field. We thought it was a 250+ day and turns out we were right. Toby in his first game of the year opened the bowling and looked devastating but unfortunately 2 dropped catches in the opening over and around 6 for his spell understated how good he was. He ended up with 2/37. Rory at the other end bowled well for no wickets. Quaid bowled first change with a rotation of several bowlers at the other end, to set batters and didn't look out of place. Mudgee were firing to drinks and to about the 28 over mark when Haz (the smallest player on the field) took matters into his own hands. He has that look in his eyes where you just knew he was going to do something special. Mudgee were on target for 350 when Haz made them fall one after the other like dominos, taking a magnificent 4/43! We managed to keep them to 7/295. The chase was on with Dale and I knowing we had to go for it from ball 1. We started well finding the boundary regularly until Dale fell for 26. Other Lucas, Coyney and Matt came, got starts, but unfortunately couldn't keep going. We took drinks slightly ahead of the run rate required. Toby joined me at the crease for his first hit of the year and boy did he not waste time, hitting a magnificent 4 straight up. Toby and I batted well together until I finally fell for 95. Haz came in next. He and Toby played liked they had been in this situation 1000 times before. I can't state enough how well these lads batted, with Haz finally falling after a quick 28 and Toby going on for an unbeaten 73! Unfortunately we fell 7 runs short getting 288 in another close one against another team with very questionable "6 graders". The way our juniors carried themselves and took matters into their own hands when their seniors couldn't was well beyond their years. These lads keep taking their games to new heights every week. I'm looking forward to seeing what they can do next week! Until then, have a great week! Chippa

Unlocking FrogBox Highlights with PlayHQ and LillyPad
This season, the Runaway Bay Cricket Club is excited to bring more of our cricket to life through FrogBox live streaming and highlight packages. We’ll be aiming to stream as many games as possible across Premier Cricket, Veterans, Juniors, and Women’s cricket, showcasing the talent and spirit of our club to family, friends, and supporters everywhere.
To make the most of this technology, we need the help of our scorers. The key lies in how we use PlayHQ alongside FrogBox’s highlight program, LillyPad. Here’s how it works: When live scoring in PlayHQ, you’ll notice a button on the screen labelled “Bowler Running In”*. This button should be pressed just before—or right as—the bowler begins their approach. Doing this triggers the recording of that particular ball, ensuring any exciting moment (like a wicket, a six, or a boundary) is captured for our highlight reel. By consistently pressing this button, our scorers help create accurate and exciting highlight packages that not only celebrate individual performances but also promote our teams and club culture. With everyone’s contribution, we can build a library of memorable moments that players and supporters will be able to watch back and enjoy for years to come. Let’s work together to make this season one to remember—both on and off the field.

Our Over 50s Navy team faced a challenging away fixture against Logan Village on their home turf this weekend, with six fresh faces joining the squad for what turned out to be a real character-building contest.
The day belonged to Logan Village with the bat, but credit where it's due – our boys showed tremendous heart fielding for 40 overs in scorching 34-degree heat! Despite chasing leather all day, the team's spirit never wavered and the camaraderie remained strong throughout.
Batting Battle
The chase was always going to be tough after Logan Village posted a competitive total. Our top order faced some quality bowling and with the first four batsmen combining for less than 30 runs, we were always up against it.
However, the team showed real grit and determination to bat out the full 40 overs – making Logan Village work for their victory and showing the fighting spirit that defines Navy cricket!
Standout Performances ⭐
Sandford anchored the innings brilliantly with a composed 43 Not Out – exactly the type of knock the team needed
Menzies was the pick of our bowlers, going wicketless but keeping it tight with figures of 0-42 from his spell
Welcome to our six new players who experienced their first taste of Navy cricket! While the result wasn't what we wanted, you couldn't have asked for a better introduction to the team's never-say-die attitude and supportive culture.
Sometimes cricket tests your character more than your skill – and our Over 50s Navy team passed that test with flying colors on Saturday!
Next up: Time to regroup, recover, and come back stronger for our next fixture!

Firstly, we would like to make a big warm welcome to our beautiful Billie, Georgia, Evelyn, who debut in their FIRST EVER cricket Game. Also a massive welcome to Amber & Ruby who also debut in this season women’s team.
The Navy Sapphire ladies kicked our season off at a little boutique ground in the suburb of Pacific Pines where we played against the Coomera girls and what a splendid team to play against. We lost the toss and ended up batting first. The ultimate pairing of Nic and Shana came out with guns boxing putting on a combined partnership of 52. Then we had the first two of our new pairings in Amber and Ruby who put on 58 followed by the experience of Cath and G were solid in the middle and Georgia and Billie also showed some great shots at the end. We set them a total of 202 with only losing 5 wickets which ways an amazing effort. We then bowled amazingly with limited extras given and the ladies throwing themselves around in the outfield. With Cath, G, Shana and Amber all picking up 2 wickets with reducing them to only 183 was a great win by the ladies very proud to watch. Until next time… JL

Womens Pink Diamonds

Location: Dux Oval Result: Win for the Pink Diamonds!
8/195 V 5/221 What a way to launch the season! In the suffocating humidity at Dux Oval, the Pink Diamonds brought the sparkle and the fire, kicking off 2025 with a sensational all-round performance. Every player had their moment to shine, and the result? A well-earned victory to start the year!
Batting Brilliance After losing the toss, we were sent in to bat—but that didn’t faze our opening duo, the sizzling sisters, Kelly and Sonia. Kelly blazed away with four boundaries, smashing 26 runs off 14 balls. Sonia, undeterred by a painful knock to the pinky, stood tall and steady with a run-a-ball 13 off 13. Next in were Kirsten and Faith, and wow—what a show! Kirsten was on fire from ball one, launching back-to-back sixes and rocketing to 44 runs off just 13 balls. That’s a strike rate that tops the billboard! Faith contributed a solid 29 off 13, but was the first wicket to fall—sending one high for Coomera to take a comfortable catch. Then came Emily and Lori. Emily got off to a hot start, hitting two 4s in her first three balls and finishing with 14 off 14 despite a couple of unlucky runouts. Lori, facing the quickest bowler of the day in her very first innings, showed nerves of steel. She stayed composed and unshaken, finishing with 5 off 13 and—more importantly—not out. A brilliant debut under pressure! To finish the innings came Tracy, Gaylene, and Teagan—and what a closing act it was! Tracy, in her debut game, hit a sensational 6 and ran like a pro between the wickets, ending with 15 off 13. Gaylene nailed a boundary and showcased excellent running, contributing a solid 21 off 13. Teagan, our “can-I-go-last” specialist, hit two classy 4s and showed excellent game awareness to finish with 14 off 13.
Bowling & Fielding Highlights After a quick break, the Pink Diamonds swapped bats for balls and brought equal heat in the field. Kirsten, unstoppable today, grabbed 1/20 from 3 overs and rightfully earned Player of the Match honors! Kelly bowled tight (0/18 from 3) and took a jaw-dropping catch that left everyone stunned—including herself! She also claimed a slick run-out to top off a brilliant day. Sonia and Faith teamed up beautifully, with Sonia taking 2/22 off 3 thanks to sharp bowling and good keeping from Faith. Emily bowled with control, showing some great lines early. Ending with 0/24 off 3 overs, her final over featured five dot balls! Amazing finish. Lori, cool under pressure again, kept things tidy with no wides or no-balls, ending with 0/29 off 2 and four dot balls—one to watch this season! Tracy continued her dream debut with the ball, grabbing 2/10 off 2, including a sharp stumping and a wicket caught by Kirsten. Talk about a complete performance! Gaylene bounced back from some big hits to bowl a beauty straight at the stumps, finishing with 1/30 off 2. Teagan delivered a disciplined spell—just 1 wide, 2 dot balls, and a very respectable 0/20 off 2.
Special Thanks Massive gratitude to Gareth for coaching and umpiring—your support keeps us sharp. And to Mr. McQueen, our ever-reliable scorer, thank you for being the stats king behind the scenes! Thanks also to our amazing supporters cheering us on from the sidelines—it means the world to us.
One Team, One Dream This game wasn’t just about the scoreboard—it was about connection, courage, and a whole lot of laughs along the way. Every single player brought something special, and that’s what truly made the day a success. From first timers to seasoned stars, we played as a team, supported each other, and had an absolute blast doing it. Here’s to more fun, more growth, and more unforgettable moments together—go Pink Diamonds!
