Under 10’s
Under 10’s Orange vs Helensvale White
This week, Runaway Bay Orange Under 10’s were almost back at full strength with only Neil overseas, so our 9 little legends took on Helensvale White at Loxton 1 under the not so bright lights on a Friday night. In a surprise from Helensvale, they brought a full team, but a team that upset our previously unbeaten Navy team last week and the Bay was looking for revenge for their clubmates. We saw a familiar Helensvale face that we’d already played this year, but either he only knows how to get to the Bay, or they’d had a reshuffle of their teams. Our skipper for the evening Elijah flipped the bat and the Orange team were asked to pad up for the second week in a row by the opposition captain.
Elijah set the batting line up after a lot of consideration by concentrating who he wanted to bowl first against their strong batting line up. Lucas and Billy faced the new ball and didn’t disappoint. Lucas hit his highest score of 19 for the year including 2 fours off non cone balls and was caught after smashing a third that looked headed for the same result. Elijah top scored with 36 with a massive six off the last ball and just pipped the ever-consistent Charlie by just a single run. Lucius topped 20 which is becoming his standard and Abhi also hit a massive six in his 11 runs as the other batter to hit double figures. Another solid batting effort all-round losing only 4 wickets on our way to 170. For those following at home, Lucius could only manage a three this week as his quest to run forever continues…
With a decent score on the board, and our nemesis who single handedly hit 79 against us only a few weeks prior, Elijah’s well thought out bowling line up did their thing. The master blaster was kept under wraps as Helensvale were contained to 1-30 off the first four overs, but unfortunately, our next over went for 28. Luckily, Yaqub and James wrighted the ship going for only 1-10 combined in the next two overs including a first maiden bowled by James this year. Everyone got a wicket tonight, and Charlie got 2 for his efforts. Best bowling was Charlie with 2/14 off 2 overs, but Zac and James bowled really tightly each only giving up 6 runs each off their 2 overs. Brilliant composure by Abhi who backed up his first over with a wicket maiden to finish with 1-28 off his 2 overs which included only 3 cone balls, which is a massive improvement from the start of the year. Incredible effort by all of the bowlers, only 36 cone balls of the total 120 bowled, far and away our best team effort. Tight bowling restricted Helensvale to 136 for the loss of 10 wickets, with their gun bat only managing 51 this week, 28 less than when we last played him. Special mention to James not only for his bowling figures, but all 12 balls he pushed off the boundary rope and probably blew up his pedometer with the distance covered tonight.
In the field, it was more of the same from the Orange team. Lots of backing up, good calls in the field and not many overthrows, shows the effort and discipline of the team in the field. Three runouts including a direct hit from Abhi, and James’ first runout for the year from a sharp piece of fielding at square leg set the standard, and with 2 catches and an almost classic from the skipper, we saw the best fielding effort by the team for the year to date.
Another good win by the Orange Bay boys with no passengers, plenty of great attitudes, and another difficult decision for player of the match. But it had to go to Billy this week, who after being re-united with his bat, knocked up a solid nine runs, got a wicket but led the way in the field with some desperate saves and relentless chase saving a heap of runs again tonight to earn his well deserved PotM award. He’d been knocking on the door for a few weeks now but finally got the chocolates through sheer perseverance.
One more game next Friday before the break so let’s get down to training and finish off 2025 with a bang. Well done again boys, Go The Bay!
Under 10’s Navy
A big shout-out to our mighty Under 10s Navy team, who showed true Runaway Bay spirit last Friday night. At 6:05 pm, just as our players and parents arrived ready for a great game of cricket, we received word that Coomera would be forfeiting.
But that didn’t stop our team.
With two Coomera players already there and keen to play, Coach Trent, along with our awesome group of parents, pulled together a friendly match on the spot. Everyone mixed in, supported each other, and made sure the kids still enjoyed a fun and competitive game.
What could have been a disappointing night turned into a great display of teamwork, sportsmanship, and community.
Well done, Navy! A great effort from every player, parent, and of course Coach Trent. This is what cricket is all about! 🏏💙

Under 11’s

With our beloved coach sidelined for the game with a bout of ‘’gabba box fever” the boys needed to stand up and show off the skills that coach Jared has been teaching them throughout the season. It was Zachs turn to take charge as captain for the day, standing tall to lead with strong encouragement for his fellow team against a good Helensvale side. Helensvale batted first with Ziggy bowling exceptionally well taking 3 wickets including demolishing the stumps twice in a row and just narrowly missing out on a hattrick. Reuben, Arthur, Callum and Sadie bowled with pace and fire with the wind at their backs picking up vital wickets including multiple stump rearrangements and kept the back stop position busy with their jofra archer without his pillow type pace. Zach bowled well also taking one wicket bowled and nearly had another if only there was an extra coat of stump varnish. Alex, Harry and Vansh bowled well also with Alex picking up one wicket after Callum took an exceptional catch off his leggies. Special mention to Harry for his exceptional wicket keeping up against the fiery quicks bowling with pace down wind, and for taking a special catch behind off the bowling of Arthur early on which set the tone of the game. Our turn to bat and Alex and Zach opened up, Zach hit a nice paddle shot for 4 ending on 11, Alex and Callum both made 5 after facing some hostile bowling. Sadie scored 13 and played some lovely shots with some good running between the wickets. Reuben top scored with an exceptional innings of 16 including some thunderous strikes to cow corner, which brought the crowd to their feet each time. Arthur, Ziggy, and Vansh all batted well also scoring consistently with good technique. Arthur scored 12, Ziggy 7, and Vansh 10. Harry played some stylish shots on his way to double figures and looked at eased against the bowling in the final overs. We ended up on 85 after losing 8 wickets with Helensvale losing 8 wickets also for 108. It was a close game played in great spirit and final scores after calculation were Helensvale 140 to Runaway Bay 120. Player of the match went to Harry for his exceptional wicket keeping, tidy bowling and stylish stroke play with the bat.

Under 13’s Div 2

Mudgeeraba Innings: 4-99 (25 Overs)
Mudgeeraba set a target of 99 runs from their 25 overs, losing 4 wickets in the process.
Our bowling attack was incredibly economical, with Charlie being the standout, conceding just 2 runs from 3 overs including a maiden and taking one wicket.
Maggie also delivered a tight spell, bowling 3 overs for only 4 runs.
Wickets were shared amongst Olive who claimed a wicket in the 1st over of the innings for the 2nd week in a row.
Jai contributed with a wicket also (1/8 off 2), and Hugo bowled a tight spell 0/7 off 3 overs, helped restrict Mudgeeraba to under 100 runs.
Some standouts in the field were Jai and Hugo both taking a catch each. Hugo and Jackson were also sharp with the gloves, Hugo with a grab down the leg side whilst keeping up at the stumps then followed it up with direct hit for a runout.
Runaway Bay Innings: 5-147 (25 Overs)
Our batting display was outstanding, reaching a total of 147 with five wickets down.
Our team comfortably eclipsed the target, mainly due to a brilliant partnership between Maggie (42* off 37 balls) and Hudson (28* off 32 balls), who were both unbeaten at the end of the innings. Maggie was particularly aggressive, striking 8 boundaries on her way to the top score (her pb also, congrats Maggie!)
Valuable contributions were also made by Jackson (15), Fletcher retiring not out (10) and opening batsman Nash (11).
The team total was further boosted by a significant 33 extras, highlighting the pressure placed on the Mudgeeraba bowlers.
Well done to the Runaway Bay Seagulls U13 Div 2 team on a fantastic team victory!

Under 13’s Div 1

🏏 Under 13 Bay v Mudgee Day 1 Division 1 – Match Report
First home game of the season! We were all pretty excited to be playing on Loxton 3.
We won the toss and the boys decided to have a bat. We worked our way to 7/146 from 50 overs. Fantastic effort to see out the 50.
The team had a few moments where wickets fell close together, but each time the innings looked like it might wobble, the boys settled, refocused, and built small partnerships to steady things again.
Kade made a steady 18 at the top, helping the team get through the early pressure. Harry spent valuable time at the crease, facing 29 balls and helping blunt the opening attack. Cooper fell to a great catch requiring the boys to regroup.
The partnership between Zach and Oliver was a key turning point. Zach showed great patience and concentration for his 30, and Oliver supported him with a confident 25, finding the boundary when needed. Their time together helped settle the innings after another small clump of wickets.
Josh fell in the middle overs, and Benji contributed a patient 10 during a period where the team once again needed to slow things down and rebuild—something they did well throughout the day.
In the final overs, Archie and Alfie both finished not out. Alfie lifted the tempo with 13 from 12 balls, while Archie held firm and kept things stable at the other end.
Unfortunately the game didn’t give everyone the opportunity to have a bat. We will create the opportunity next game.
Extras added 40 handy runs, pushing the total to a competitive 146.
Overall, it was a reassuring team performance. Every time pressure built or wickets fell, someone stepped up to steady the innings. The boys showed good composure and teamwork across all 50 overs, setting up a solid platform heading into Day 2.
Thanks everyone for making it happen.

🟡 Runaway Bay Seagulls Opens Div 1 – Day 1 Match Report
Seagulls post 206 to set up an exciting Day 2!
The Runaway Bay Seagulls Opens Div 1 put together a determined and spirited batting performance on Day 1 of their two-day clash with Coomera Hope Island, finishing with a very competitive 7/206 from 48 overs in what was a great display of patience, partnerships and late-innings lift!
The innings began with Lucy Logan (14 off 40) digging in against some tight early bowling before becoming the first wicket to fall, helping lay the platform for the batters to follow. Taika Hoare (28 off 41) then took the initiative with a positive and confident knock, pushing the scoring along and putting pressure back on the bowlers.
Quaid Rogers (8 off 47) also played an important holding role, absorbing plenty of deliveries during a tough period and allowing the middle order to build later on.
The innings highlight, though, was a classy knock from William Altass, who anchored the innings superbly with 64 off 90 balls. Will looked composed from ball one, rotating well and punishing anything loose. A proper top-order performance that kept the Seagulls ticking along.
Momentum picked up again when Flynn Richardson added a handy 28 off 42, before A.J. Francesconi delivered exactly what the team needed late—some spark and clean hitting. AJ’s unbeaten 25 off 22* lifted the scoring rate at the perfect time, supported by skipper Jake Schultz, who guided the boys to stumps on *2.
Extras also helped push the score past 200, with Coomera gifting 35, including a generous 23 wides—pressure earned by some disciplined batting from the Seagulls.
With 206 on the board and a full day in the field coming up next weekend, the Seagulls are right in this contest. Early wickets will be the key—and if the team bring their trademark energy and intensity, this match is well and truly there to be won!

Unlocking FrogBox Highlights with PlayHQ and LillyPad
This season, the Runaway Bay Cricket Club is excited to bring more of our cricket to life through FrogBox live streaming and highlight packages. We’ll be aiming to stream as many games as possible across Premier Cricket, Veterans, Juniors, and Women’s cricket, showcasing the talent and spirit of our club to family, friends, and supporters everywhere.
To make the most of this technology, we need the help of our scorers. The key lies in how we use PlayHQ alongside FrogBox’s highlight program, LillyPad. Here’s how it works: When live scoring in PlayHQ, you’ll notice a button on the screen labelled “Bowler Running In”*. This button should be pressed just before—or right as—the bowler begins their approach. Doing this triggers the recording of that particular ball, ensuring any exciting moment (like a wicket, a six, or a boundary) is captured for our highlight reel. By consistently pressing this button, our scorers help create accurate and exciting highlight packages that not only celebrate individual performances but also promote our teams and club culture. With everyone’s contribution, we can build a library of memorable moments that players and supporters will be able to watch back and enjoy for years to come. Let’s work together to make this season one to remember—both on and off the field.

Women’s Pink Diamonds

Pink Diamonds – Final Match Report of 2025!
What a finale! For our last outing of the year, the Pink Diamonds hit the field with grit, sparkle and plenty of Christmas spirit. Even though we lost the toss and were sent in to field, we were switched on from ball one, producing one of our tidiest performances yet.
FIELDING & BOWLING The opposition came armed with a couple of big hitters — one sending boundaries to every patch of grass she could find — but our bowlers held strong and kept their cool. Bowling Figures:
• Jade – 0/8 (1) while also stepping in as keeper to help Kelly. Superstar effort!
• Tracy – 0/9 (2) disciplined and consistent as always.
• Sonia – 0/11 (2) plus nearly taking a blinder of a catch at the risk of a potentially broken finger. Her grit and a strong batting innings earned her the opposition’s Women of the Match. Legend.
• Emily – 0/13 (3) another polished spell from one of our most reliable bowlers.
• Kelly – 0/14 (2) after starting in keeper then shifting out to the field.
• Faith – 0/15 (2) making a return from injury and slotting back in seamlessly.
• Kirsten – 0/18 (3) tight lines and great pressure.
• Gaylene – 0/19 (2) steady as always.
• Lori – 1/28 (3) taking our only wicket — and her first ever wicket! Her first two overs were rock solid before she faced the opposition’s big-hitting superstar, but she held her nerve and had a fantastic day out. We are all so proud of her progress as a first-time player.
WOMEN OF THE MATCH A huge congratulations to our two incredible award recipients this week:
• Lori – for her first ever wicket and another PB with the bat!
• Kelly – for an outstanding all-round performance: keeping, fielding, bowling and an unforgettable batting display.
A massive thank you to Jade for filling in for us. Huge appreciation as well to Brad, Hugo, Hudson and Santa for scoring and umpiring. And of course, to our wonderful cheer squad — we absolutely love playing, and it’s even better with our Bay family cheering from the sidelines. This wraps up our 2025 games. We gave it a cracking effort, and we know we’ll be back better, stronger and ready to kick butt in 2026 after a well-deserved break. Merry Christmas everyone!

For our last game for 2025 we wandered down the highway to a very hot and humid Bonogin oval. It felt like it was 50 degrees in the shade, not a breath of air to be had. Bonogin won the toss and elected to bat. They came out all guns blazing running on every shot and finding the boundary every so often. There was no panic on our end we just needed to stick with our game plan and persist. After a few dubious decisions with runs and wickets, I’m not sure the other coach got the memo it is social cricket the wickets started falling. Shana picked up 3 wickets, Ruby chipped in, Georgia was incredibly economic and G as usual snagged a few. Nic then came on to bedazzle the opposition with her spin and managed to take a hat trick thanks to some nifty wicket keeping by Cath to help with a couple of stumpings, it was 3 cheers to Nic!!! We managed to keep them to under 180 and took an impressive 10 wickets all up.
With the day not getting any cooler the batting conditions were also very hot. So hot that poor Nic wilted under the harsh sun and had to retire from her opening duties. With Shana holding steady Ruby, Amber, Evelyn ambled along to keep the scoreboard ticking. Enter the might of G !!! It was too hot to run so G fixed that by hitting boundaries and multiple 6’s to hit a magnificent 64 off only 15 deliveries. The opposition were in awe and had no answers as the ball kept sailing over their heads over the boundary. Well done to an awesome innings of just power hitting. Cath and Georgia then finished it off by keeping the runs flowing. Well done to Nic to recover and come back on for her final few deliveries. Another solid team effort from the Navy girls who didn’t get flustered we just dug deep and got another win on the board. Hope everyone enjoys a relaxing break over Christmas!!
