Under 10’s Orange
Under 10’s Orange vs Helensvale Green
The Bay Under 10’s Orange played Helensvale Green this week at Loxton Oval 1 under the Friday night lights and after last week’s Halloween-gate cancelation, the boys were chomping at the bit for a bit of action. We had only Yaqub missing this week, so our 9 took on HV Green’s 7 players. Lucius was captain this week, but with what looks like the standard with Helensvale, they only had 3 to start the game, so we didn’t have a toss, and we fielded. Again.
We made pretty good time this week and got through our 20 overs. James lead the way with 3 wickets, Abhi and Lucius took two apiece and special mention to Elijah who, as he does each week, got his wicket and was economical, this time going for a miserly 8 off his 2 overs. It looked like we were going to be chasing a massive total when their opener whacked us to all parts on his way to 79, but the boys held their nerve with the ball and with some sensational fielding, kept Helensvale to 169 for the loss of 10 wickets. Charlie took our first catch for the season this week off James’ bowling, and James also had the only other non-runout wicket when he got one through the gate and sent middle and leg flying. Overall, we’re seeing less cone balls which is a good sign that we’re improving our bowling skills every week.
Once again, without sounding like a broken record, the boys all did their part with the willow and plastic from one through nine, knocking up 185 and losing only 7 wickets. Everyone hit double figures again except for Neil, who was the victim of the opposition umpire (or coach) not being able to count and was ripped off 3 balls, and with Neils batting ability, would have easily found the extra few to reach double digits as well. Sorry Neil… Charlie was top of the pops with 35 including pulling back-to-back sixes off consecutive balls straight over the square leg umpire’s hat. Abhi, Elijah, Zac and the skipper all knocked up 20-plus and Billy continued to monster everything off the cone when he got the chance, even with a borrowed bat. Cannot fault the batting, the running and calling again this week, every player is getting better each week at these simple things that make cricket more fun to play.
Tough decision to pick a player of the match, but after a lot of soul searching, it was awarded to our captain Lucius this week. Seriously could have gone to any one of five or six this week, so it’s good to see we’re not relying on the same one or two players every game. While each of our players has different abilities at different skills, I think we have hit the perfect balance with the team where everyone brings a unique set of skills which complement our teammates and make up for any of their potential weaknesses. Perfect Synergy by the RBCC U/10 Orange team.
Special thanks to Ryan for the first 3 games and Brian for helping with the scoring this week. Any parents who can assist on game night, please come and see me and we can all help lighten the load. If you need a crash course in scoring, please come see me before the game or on a Tuesday afternoon, at or after training.
Well done again boys, Go The Bay!

This week saw the Gulls u10’s navy playing at home against Helensvale Pink. Spencer was our nominated CEO, and after the toss we sent the vale in for a bat!
Our team showed from the get go superior bowling and fielding with the umpire (Mr Trent) continually telling our team to take 10 steps back, and give the opposition a chance to steal a single. We were just all over the contest!
Hudson opened our account with 2 wickets in the first over, and Finn followed suit with a wicket maiden in the second. From there the standard was set, with Spencer backing up with a wicket maiden, and Lara bowling laser accuracy with only 2 singles from her first over. Owen also steamed in off the long run-up, and bowled pure heat with the opposition batsman even telling him and the umpire, quote ‘that bowling is hardcore!!! Wyatt and Carter also produced the goods with accurate bowling both walking away with wickets in the bag. The man of the moment however, was our young gun Toby, who didn’t know at the time but now knows what a hat-tricks feels like!! Wow!! what an over, and great to see him giving the old man from the sidelines the thumbs up! Sensational bowling and man of the match performance!
In the field Hudson took a great catch, and Finn decided he could bowl and cut off boundary’s from the opposition in the same ball! Fantastic effort and team contribution!
We stayed in 5th gear with the bat as well, with all players finding the fence. Lara was in fine form with 3 boundaries, and both Owen and Finn ended up in the high 20’s giving the team a commanding lead!
Well done under 10’s Navy on yet another great win!

Under 11s
On Saturday we had the pleasure of playing on our wonderful number 6 oval accompanied by about 200 magpies which made eating breaky and watching cricket near impossible.
Callum was our captain and won the bat flip and chose to Bowl, Our team bowled and fielded exceptionally With zac taking his first ever caught and bowled and nearly backing it up the very next ball with a great diving catch to just bounce out of his hands as he landed, 2 of the boys ended with 4 wickets each with Ziggy bowling 3 overs 4 for 16 and Arthur 2 overs 4 for 14. Callum got 2 wickets for 16 off 3 overs while Harry (Hazza) Ray picked up 2 wickets for only 7 runs with a great display of bowling,
With our heroic display in the field our batters now knew we had to back it up with the bat and that they did, Zac and Alex opened up the batting both rotating strike and calling between the wickets really well and after there 13 ball each bought Vansh and Ziggy to the crease, Vansh hit his highest score as well as the highest individual score for our team this season with a tremendous 20 not out, Ziggy batting really well again with a consistent effort 13 not out, Reuben and Hazza were next in and carried on from were Ziggy and Vansh left off, Hazza hitting 1 4 to finish 14 not out and Reuben 16,Sadie,Callum and Arthur were next in With Sadie and Callum both hitting a boundary each with Arthur running really well between the wickets with good loud calls taking control of the middle. Sadie finished with 8 Callum 9 and Arthur 7.
Another great game of cricket from 9 Super stars who really encourage each other and are a real pleasure to be around, Man of the match went to Vansh for an amazing display all round well done Team

Junior Match Report: Runaway Bay Seagulls U13 Div 2 vs. Coomera Hope Island Blue
The Runaway Bay Seagulls U13 Division 2 team faced Coomera Hope Island Blue at Sam Loxton Oval 3. After winning the toss, we elected to bowl first.
The bowling attack started strong, restricting Coomera Hope Island to 4/123 from their 25 overs.
Maggie was the standout bowler, taking 2 wickets for only 6 runs off 3 overs, and achieving a brilliant economy rate of 2.00.
Our teams fielding was sharp, including 2 key run-outs with Hugo keeping at the time to dismiss one of the opening batsmen trying for a sneaky run. Then a catch by Fletcher off a no ball quickly became a run out with Hugo launching the ball to Lachlan, our keeper at the time, who whipped off the bails leaving the batter in the middle of the pitch. Great team effort!
We then commenced our innings with the bat. Chasing 124 for the win, our batters put on a commanding display, reaching the target in the 17th over with only 2 wickets down, winning the match by 8 wickets.
The team's success was built on a series of strong partnerships:
Hugo Collett top-scored with an excellent 44 (off 30 balls), including 6 fours, before retiring not out.
Maggie anchored the innings beautifully, finishing on 32* not out (off 30 balls) to guide the team home.
Huddy was solid at the top of the order again retiring not out with 18 runs.
Lachlan contributed a crucial 17 runs.
Nash also retired not out with 15 runs.
Charlie hit the winning runs and finished on 5* not out.
The team's total of 2-182 included a massive 51 Extras, highlighting the pressure the batsmen applied to the opposition's bowling. We ended up winning by 8 wickets and nearly 60 runs.
Player of the match went to our skipper Maggie who bowled and batted the best she has all year.
The coaches SParms award went to Nash for an all round good game this week.

Day 1 Bay v Surfers Red
With a numbers shortage we agreed to let surfers have a crack with the bat first.
We hit the field with a goal to do the small things right and allow the fancy stuff to take care of itself.
The boys executed this really well for the majority of 46 overs. Adjusting to a full day in the field will take a couple more weeks but we’re getting there nicely.
We struck early with Alfie hitting the stumps in the 3rd. Benji followed quickly with another bowled in the 4th.
Surfers dug in, our next wicket fell in the 15th over with Ollie taking a clean bowled wicket. 4 overs later Archie took a wicket in the 19th.
Our next came in the 22nd, Cooper took a nice catch off Ollie’s bowling. Will took a crucial wicket in the 27th, with a clean bowled delivery.
We stuck with a tidy run out off Archie’s bowling in the 31st, Kade managed an accurate rocket ball in that beat the batter. Robert jagged a wicket the next over with a beautiful line and length ball, cleaning up the stumps.
Surfers again dug in and hung around to the 42nd, Zach pitch up a nice ball up and cleaned up the stumps. The final came the next over with Benji taking an exceptional catch off Ollie.
Plenty of the wickets came from pressure bowling in the previous overs! So important for these boys to continue to work as a team to build pressure. Loved the voice in the field, it’s a big day but they’re always up n about. Love it!!
We are left with an achievable but challenging 175 run chase. This will be a great challenge for the team, will test their patience and our goal to bat for time. Can’t wait.
Thanks everyone for making it happen!!

Tough Start at Home, but Plenty of Fight from The Bay!
Open Division 1 Match Report
By Ben Canning
The sun was shining and the deck at Runaway Bay looked a beauty as the lads took the field for our first home game of the season. Spirits were high, the crowd was buzzing, and after winning the toss, The Bay elected to bat first — looking to post a strong total on a wicket made for runs.
Grinding It Out with the Bat
Unfortunately, it wasn’t quite the batting display we’d hoped for. The Mudgee bowlers found good areas early and made scoring tough, with a combination of swing, seam and a few unplayable deliveries testing the patience of our top order.
While wickets fell steadily, Lucy showed incredible concentration and determination, batting for almost the entire innings for a hard-fought 21 off 99 balls — an effort full of grit and character. It was a knock that anchored the innings and showed what application looks like under pressure.
Despite that fighting effort, The Bay were eventually bowled out for 81, leaving the bowlers with work to do.
Early Pressure in the Field
Mudgee’s reply got off to a steady start, reaching 0-37 by the close of play. The Bay bowlers created half-chances and kept things tight, but the wicket offered little help late in the day. Still, the energy in the field was top-notch, with every player chasing hard and staying vocal right to the final ball.
Eyes on the Comeback
It may not have been the start we wanted, but there’s plenty of belief in this side. With Lucy’s patience at the crease setting the example, and the bowling unit hungry to hit back next week, there’s every reason to think The Bay can turn it around in style.
We’ll regroup, refocus, and come back stronger — that’s what this club is built on.

Unlocking FrogBox Highlights with PlayHQ and LillyPad
This season, the Runaway Bay Cricket Club is excited to bring more of our cricket to life through FrogBox live streaming and highlight packages. We’ll be aiming to stream as many games as possible across Premier Cricket, Veterans, Juniors, and Women’s cricket, showcasing the talent and spirit of our club to family, friends, and supporters everywhere.
To make the most of this technology, we need the help of our scorers. The key lies in how we use PlayHQ alongside FrogBox’s highlight program, LillyPad. Here’s how it works: When live scoring in PlayHQ, you’ll notice a button on the screen labelled “Bowler Running In”*. This button should be pressed just before—or right as—the bowler begins their approach. Doing this triggers the recording of that particular ball, ensuring any exciting moment (like a wicket, a six, or a boundary) is captured for our highlight reel. By consistently pressing this button, our scorers help create accurate and exciting highlight packages that not only celebrate individual performances but also promote our teams and club culture. With everyone’s contribution, we can build a library of memorable moments that players and supporters will be able to watch back and enjoy for years to come. Let’s work together to make this season one to remember—both on and off the field.

Women’s Div 2

Runaway Bay Div 2 Ladies vs Surfers – Match Report
After a night of heavy storms and rain, the team headed down to Surfers to find the ground still firm but wet, and the air thick with humidity. Conditions were always going to be tricky, but spirits were high.
I lost the toss again, but we were more than happy to bat first! Shana and Nic opened the innings and faced a challenging pitch where the ball skidded through, aided by some quality bowling. Despite that, both managed to find the boundary a few times, giving us a solid start.
Ruby and Amber followed, continuing to battle tough conditions. Ruby shone with a quick-fire 25 runs both girls running quick between the wickets and keeping the momentum alive. Georgia, Jade, Billie, and Cath all chipped in steadily, keeping the scoreboard ticking. After a few sighters, G found rhythm and finished in style her last four balls went 4, 4, 4, 6! Thanks to a gritty team effort, we posted a credible 5/199.
Heading out to defend, the goal was clear: keep it tight, take chances, and stay positive. The team delivered brilliantly, limiting extras, maintaining sharp fielding, and seizing opportunities. Ruby capped off her all-round performance with 3 wickets and deservingly the player of the match honour, while G was rock-solid with a couple. Shana, Georgia, and Cath also struck, and some excellent catches in the outfield helped us hold off a Surfers’ late surge. Despite heavy hitting at the end, we restricted them to 8/191.
A hard-fought win in tough conditions, proving that persistence and positive talk pay off. Every small contribution added up to a big team victory. Our batting has been our strength but today our bowling and fielding shone!!
Thank you to Kelly, Kirsten and Gareth and all our regular supporters for coming down to watch and cheer on our game. Much appreciated
