Under 11's Round 5 Under 12's - Opens Round 3 Day 1
π Under 11βs
The weekend gone, the Runaway Bay Seagulls under 11's teams faced Helensvale Yellow team. The match was played at Brockman oval.
We won the toss and decided to bat first. Nash and Hugo joined our team for this match because we were short on players. Thanks to their parents and Chris for arranging this. Fletcher and Eshan opened the batting and provided the team with a solid opening. They were followed by Jackson and Harrison who continued in the same vein. Our last batting pair were Hugo and Nash. They thrashed the opposition bowling to all parts of the ground. Hugo was in a league of his own. He was our top scorer with 41 runs -which included 8 fours and a six. Nash scored 16 runs. We ended up with a total of 222 runs and lost just 1 wicket during the process.
When our team turned up to bowl, we took wickets at regular intervals. We restricted the opposition to 135 runs and took 8 wickets. Hugo and Harrison took 3 wickets each. Eshan and Fletcher claimed a scalp each. Harrison and Fletcher were commendable behind the wickets and Fletcher took a brilliant diving catch while keeping. Our bowlers kept the extras to a mere 15.
We won the match by a huge margin and Hugo was adjudged the Player of The Match.

Finally back for a home game and we get to play on Loxton three for the first time ever the team were super excited and we finally had a full team of 11. Thanks to Huddy and Aidan filling in from their respective teams. Tarnia got us off to a flying start after winning the toss before falling straight after drinks for 30. Nikita continued his hard hitting obtaining his highest score to date big things are coming for Nikita if he continues batting this way, with a very respectable target already set Aiden came out with a quick fire 25 to finish our innings at 109
All players knew the plan that they had to bowl well to get their second overs and all did just that with all players receiving multiple overs. Tarnia, Charlie,Joshua and Mikel were clear standout bowlers by their low economy with day one wrapped up we hold a slim lead and positivity for a victory.

Today we got to play on a beautiful looking Sam Loxton 1. The pitch was hard, the sun was out so it was the perfect batting conditions. We went in for the toss wanting to have a bat and I lost it yet again. To my surprise, they chose to bowl.
Lucy and I opened the batting today and we got off to a good start. We were playing well but also getting lucky, with us both getting dropped somewhere in the 20s. We continued though with Lucy hitting some amazing pull shots that found the boundary. Unfortunately, Lucy got out one ball before drinks for a well made 30 off 51. Well done Lucy! I also got out not too long after for 38 from 56. This brought Mac and Harry to the crease. Mac was batting very well, finding singles and twos easily. Harry got unlucky today, getting a full toss and him smoking it only for square leg to take the catch on pure reflexes. Mac also fell soon after. Ollie got out cheaply today, which brought in Radin and Quaid in at a very crucial time of the game. We were 4-90 and Quaid and Dini played extremely well under pressure to balance us again to reach 142. Quaid then got out but did extremely well considering he was getting so much stick from his former club, as well as being under extreme scoreboard pressure. He scored 15 from 32. Good job Quaid! Dini then fell a few balls later hitting one straight to mid-on. Dini made 18 from 31. Well played Dini! Callum and Catey were now in at this point, doing well to just accumulate extras. Unfortunately, both got out relatively cheaply leaving Lucas and Alex as the last wicket partnership. Lucas then got bowled leaving Alex as the not out batter.
We finished on 171, a good score that I believe we can defend easily, considering we kept a very strong Helensvale to a modest 129.
Thanks to Mrs Brookes for the snacks and scoring this week!
