Round 2 10 & 11/10/2025
Under 10’s
Under 10’s Orange vs Helensvale Yellow
Under 10’s Orange hosted Helensvale Yellow this week at Loxton Oval 1 under lights. With Lucius away sick we had 9 but the visitors only had 4 players show up. Neil was our captain today and took the toss. With only one player present, Helensvale won the toss and wisely elected to bat just in time for their other opener to arrive.
In their 20 overs Helensvale lost 10 wickets (9 run outs) on their way to 120. First gamer Elijah had the best figures, Neil and Charlie were our most accurate, but everyone was pretty economical. Lots of cone balls were given, so there’s plenty of room for improvement. Can’t fault our fielding effort with lots of hard chasing and communication in the field.
In our chase The Mini Bay Orange Team reeled in the score with plenty of overs to spare. Of our total 184 runs, losing 9 wickets, Zac led the charge with a player of the match score of 41 off his allocated 13 balls. Our skipper Neil, showed his class with the bat, along with best mates James and Billy, and the recently traded-in Charlie all topping 20 with a mix of power and precision. Almost everyone hit double digits in an all-round batting effort.
Thanks again to all the boys having a second stint in the field. While it wasn’t ideal, at least we got another opportunity to help improve our skills. Remember it goes both ways, if we’re ever short for numbers, if the other team helps with fill in fielders, we’d also like them to try their best for us. Special mention to Billy for his effort while helping Helensvale in the field, he saved plenty of runs throwing himself around and didn’t stop trying.
Well done boys, Go The Bay!
Under 10’s Navy
This week Under 10’s took on Helensvale, playing at home under lights. Owen was this weeks’ captain and at the bat-toss we chose to bowl. Our team bowled solid with some great fielding and backing up, proving the training drills are starting to kick in! Finn almost pulled off the catch of the season with an incredible one handed effort with airtime that would make Jordon proud! Bowling was tight from the whole team with standout performances from Carter, Spencer, Toby and Lara. With the bat we continued with the good performances, piling on the runs. Hudson, Wyatt, Jack and Owen all found the fence, giving us a commanding position and sailing past the opposition’s score. A great game and with the parents cheering from the sidelines the team really enjoyed the night!!

Under 11’s
We played Helensvale at Sam Loxton. We lost the toss and were sent in to bowl first.
We opened the bowling with Ziggy and Arthur.
Ziggy bowled 3 overs, 1 for 13
Arthur: 0 for 12 off his 3
Harry: 1 for 7 off 2
Callum: 1 for 10 off 3
Reuben: 1 for 24 off 3
Zac: 1 for 18 off 2
Alex: 0 for 10 off 2
Reuben was an outstanding fielder for the day, sliding around the field like a first-grade cricketer. Everyone else followed suit, and we did really well to keep them to 78 runs.
We opened the batting with Harry and Arthur.
Harry scored 4, Arthur 14. Arthur played really well – he was our player of the game, batting and bowling like a superstar.
Reuben: 4
Alex: 4
Zac: 6
Ziggy: 10
Callum: 14
Sadie: 8
We played really well with more overall runs but unfortunately Helenvale got us out more keeping our overall result down. Although we fell just short of the target, everyone contributed, and the team spirit was excellent throughout the match. There were strong efforts in the field, committed running between the wickets, and supportive teamwork all day.
A really encouraging performance overall – we showed determination, skill, and great attitude. Well done, team!

Day 2 Runaway Bay v Maulers
206 v 137
The boys got to have a crack with the ball first up. Everyone was pretty excited! We had a 206 runs to defend which seemed to give the boys a bit of confidence.
Simple goals this week to get the boys back into the swing of it. Huge focus on working together and building pressure as a group.
The whole group did a fantastic job! We minimised extra to half of our target, bowled to our field and didn’t let the bad balls weigh us down.
We’re always going to spray a few here and there (totally fine) but it’s the way the boys react and move forward that impressed everyone the most.
Joshy opened the bowling and set the tone early with a wicket in the third over. The pressure continued to build but the batters held strong. Hazza took a handy lbw wicket in the 10th leading into the drink break.
After a quick drink and keeper swap another wicket fell to spin with Ollie clean bowling in the 13th. Will took another in the 18th with a great catch by his brother Cooper.
Ollie got another in the 23rd, after luring the batter into a few big shots he edged one to Cooper.
In the 33rd Josh can back in for his second spell, one was hit high to Archie and he took and fantastic catch. 2 over later Benjis consistency paid off and took a clean bowled wicket.
The pressure continued and Hazza jagged another in the next over.
Alfie finished them off with a cleaned bowled wicket then a lovely catch by Harry for the last.
Our fielding in all positions was super impressive, everyone put in a big effort to back up, get a hand to the ball and accurately throw to the keeper or bowler.
Really impressed with the decision making and voice out there. It’s a bit of a change fielding for the day but the boys adjusted really well.
Lots to build on but a great start!
Thanks to everyone for making it happen!!

Runaway Bay vs. Coomera Hope Island Match Report
Final Score: Coomera Hope Island White (5/209) defeated Runaway Bay (4/203)
Runaway Bay, batting first, posted an excellent 4 for 203, their "seasons best" score, on a very fast outfield with short boundaries. Despite their strong total, Coomera Hope Island successfully chased the target, finishing with 5 for 209. Our guys did their best to defend the total, but playing with two players short made the task very difficult.
The innings was anchored by an outstanding partnership’s and several quick contributions:
Hudson Schultz was the star with an unbeaten 52* off 45 balls, including 9 fours, securing a well-deserved half-century.(This was his 1st every 50 and well deserved)
Hugo Collett provided a crucial, quick boost, scoring 41 runs off just 24 balls (6 fours).
Fletcher Saul also made a significant contribution, retiring not out on 35 runs off 30 balls (7 fours).
Nash Thexton was aggressive with a quick 28 off 16 balls finishing not-out with Hudson.
Jackson opened with Hudson putting on a solid 38 run partnership with our next wicket falling at the score of 129.
Setting a target of 204 Despite the high-scoring nature of the game, several bowlers put in strong spells, particularly considering the conditions:
Hugo Collett backed up his batting with the best bowling figures, taking 2 wickets for 22 runs off 3 overs.
Magdalena McQueen was the most economical bowler, taking 1 wicket for 25 runs off 4 overs (an economy of 6.25).
Lachlan McQueen also claimed a wicket, finishing with 1 for 29 off 4 overs.
Nash Thexton contributed a wicket as well, ending with 1 for 36 off his 4 overs.
Sundries hurt us with 42 conceded (20 wides) this doesn’t reflect how we bowled just the conditions of the round made the ball very difficult to stop once it got past the wicket keeper.
The team's overall effort was solid, scoring their highest total of the season and putting up a determined fight despite being short-handed and a huge improvement from all from training with the running between the wickets.
Our SParms award went to Lachlan McQueen this week for his exceptional fielding and overall performance

Open Turf Division 1

Runaway Bay Seagulls Opens Div 1 — Match Report vs Burleigh
Runaway Bay Seagulls held their nerve in a tense finish to claim a thrilling one-wicket victory over Burleigh, chasing down the visitors’ total of 140 to finish 143 in 41.3 overs.
After a disciplined bowling effort restricted Burleigh last weekend, the Seagulls’ chase got off to a shaky start. Early wickets fell early, with Stephen Watson, Lucy Logan, and Taika Hoare all dismissed cheaply as Burleigh’s opening bowlers found early movement and built scoreboard pressure. However there were promising signs for the season with the top 3 all looking in good form, despite the results.
At 4/29, Runaway Bay were in trouble, but a steadying partnership between Aidan Long and Flynn Richardson began to restore confidence. Aidan played with excellent composure and intent, rotating the strike and punishing anything loose. He top-scored with a fluent 47 from 50 balls, featuring five boundaries and a powerful six. Flynn supported well with 17 from 27, ensuring the innings regained balance after the early setbacks.
When Aidan fell with the score on 127, the game was still in the balance, and Burleigh sensed an opportunity to snatch victory. However the last wicket partnership with Hamish Canning (7*) and Quaid Rogers (6) showed great temperament under pressure. The two boys showed strong defence and worked the ball around smartly, with Hamish hitting the winning runs to edge past the target in the 42nd over, sealing a memorable win.
Extras also played a role — 27 in total — reflecting both the pressure created by the Seagulls’ batters and Burleigh’s inability to maintain discipline late in the innings.
It was a true team effort, highlighted by Aidan’s class in the middle order and the tail end’s composure at the death, backed up by partnerships that showed grit when it was needed.
A gritty win that showcased Runaway Bay’s resilience and belief — a valuable early-season victory for the Div 1 side.
With awesome bowling last week and a standout batting performance this week it was hard to pick player of the match. But based on the player having the greatest impact it goes to Aidan Long… well done Aidan!!!! 🎉🏏🥳

Jack Holmes, wherever you are – we've got some news for you!
Our Saturday Members Draw has struck again, and unfortunately for Jack Holmes, he wasn't around to collect his winnings! While Jack was probably enjoying a well-deserved Saturday evening elsewhere, his name echoed through the clubhouse at 6:30 PM to the sound of... well, silence.
Thanks to Jack's absence, our jackpot has climbed to a mouth-watering $400 for this Saturday's draw – that's serious beer money, folks!
How It Works
Every Saturday after the senior match reports wrap up (around 6:30 PM), we draw a member's name from our club barrel. Here's the catch – you MUST be present at the clubhouse to claim your prize. No exceptions, no rain checks, no "I was just in the car park" excuses!
Each week our winner doesn't show, the jackpot grows by $100. That means someone could walk away $400 richer this Saturday simply by sticking around for post-match celebrations.
Don't Be the Next Jack Holmes!
Make sure you're at the clubhouse this Saturday evening. Grab a drink, enjoy the match reports, catch up with mates, and you might just go home with bulging pockets.

Unlocking FrogBox Highlights with PlayHQ and LillyPad
This season, the Runaway Bay Cricket Club is excited to bring more of our cricket to life through FrogBox live streaming and highlight packages. We’ll be aiming to stream as many games as possible across Premier Cricket, Veterans, Juniors, and Women’s cricket, showcasing the talent and spirit of our club to family, friends, and supporters everywhere.
To make the most of this technology, we need the help of our scorers. The key lies in how we use PlayHQ alongside FrogBox’s highlight program, LillyPad. Here’s how it works: When live scoring in PlayHQ, you’ll notice a button on the screen labelled “Bowler Running In”*. This button should be pressed just before—or right as—the bowler begins their approach. Doing this triggers the recording of that particular ball, ensuring any exciting moment (like a wicket, a six, or a boundary) is captured for our highlight reel. By consistently pressing this button, our scorers help create accurate and exciting highlight packages that not only celebrate individual performances but also promote our teams and club culture. With everyone’s contribution, we can build a library of memorable moments that players and supporters will be able to watch back and enjoy for years to come. Let’s work together to make this season one to remember—both on and off the field.
