Under 11's Round 14 Under 12's - Opens Round 8 Day 2

🏏 Under 11’s

On the 1st of February 2025, the Runaway Bay Seagulls U11 faced Queens Centaurs U11 at Sam Loxton 4. Jackson captained the team. We were put into bat after losing the bat flip. Callum and Ruben from the U10 team joined us for the match. It was an overcast day and there were a few rain showers during play.

Harrison and Eshan chose to open for us and scored 8 and 11 respectively. The balls were skidding through because of the wet pitch. Ziggy (8) and Fletcher (13) were the next pair. Jackson scored 12, Callum and Ruben scored 8 each. We conceded 28 penalty runs.

Our team delivered an impressive bowling performance. Every bowler was on the wicket column today, a first for our team this season. Eshan, Fletcher and Callum took 2 wickets each. Ziggy, Harrison, Jackson and Ruben took a wicket each. In total the team took 10 wickets.

Jackson and Fletcher kept wickets today. Jackson is making this position his own and made significant improvements. Based on their performances in the last 2 matches, Ruben and Callum seem ready to transition to this level.

We won the match. Our final score was 108 runs and the opposition’s 94. Fletcher was awarded the POTM award for his all round display.

Bit of rain caused a late start but with the help of everyone we got the game underway.

Back in to bat to start the day. Queens kept the pressure on bowling very tidy and fielding well. Our openers handled the pressure nicely. Highlight when Zach returned not out and scored a very impressive 94. We were bowled in our final over finishing the first innings 10/232.

With a handy lead our goal was to bowl minimal extras and keep the pressure on. An early wicket had us build momentum early. We managed to bowl queens 10/139.

With some time available we started our second innings and finished the day 3/50.

Fantastic game to watch, both teams played very well and show great sportsmanship. Thanks to Queens for a great game.

Great to see the boys continue to work hard and play as a team. Each individual effort can create an opportunity at anytime.

Thanks everyone for making it happen!

After a very strong performance with the bat on Day1, we were hoping for early wickets and to potentially have a crack at an outright win against Surfers Blue.

Quaid and Alex took the new ball and both boys bowled well creating pressure and restricting the scoring with great effect. Aidan came into the attack first change and got the breakthrough in his first over clean bowling Surfers’ opening bat. Mac offered good support from the other end bowling with good heat and Surfers were soon 2 wickets down after some confusion led to a runout.

Whilst we were bowling well, several interruptions from the rain stunted our progress but we kept chipping away with Catey clean bowling the oppositions #3 in her first over of the day. Ollie and Radin both executed what we asked by floating the ball up and creating chances, but the catches continually fell short of our fielders until Aidan completed a neat stumping after Radin beat the edge. Harry came into the attack bowling fast and straight to grab two wickets in one over (both clean bowled) to really put us on top and give us a shot of pushing the game forward.

We came back from the drinks break needing 3 more wickets to wrap things up and Aidan bowled a great spell smashing the stumps twice and grabbing an LBW to finish with figures of 4/20 from 6 overs, well bowled Aidan!

By the time the last wicket fell, the wet weather delay(s) and taken up too much time for us to have any chance of taking another 10 wickets. We opted to have another bat to get some more time in the middle, but we won’t talk too much about that(!).

All things considered, a great all-round performance from this well-balanced side of seriously talented cricketers. Great work team! Keep training hard and marching towards the finals!

After bowling out Helensvale for 161 last week, the team was confident heading into Day 2. However, our innings didn’t get off to the best start, with Flynn falling on the very first ball of the day. Will joined Stevie at the crease, and the two of them built a solid partnership before Stevie was caught for a well-made 14.

James Munro, Aiden, and Joe followed in quick succession, leaving us struggling at 6/42. Jake then came to the crease to join Will, and the pair played some excellent cricket, giving us a glimmer of hope. Unfortunately, just after the drinks break, Will was bowled for a well-crafted 32.

Jake continued to bat with confidence, but the tail couldn’t stick with him, with both Hamish’s falling cheaply. Jake eventually got bowled for a solid 32 trying to up the run rate, and AJ remained 0 not out. In the end, we were all out for 98.

It wasn’t our day. A few unnecessary risky shots and some good bowling from Helensvale left us well short of the target. On the bright side, we saw some encouraging individual performances, especially from Will and Jake with the bat, and some excellent bowling from the previous week.
