Under 11's Round 15 Under 12's - Opens Round 9 Day 1
🏏 Under 11’s

On the 8th of February 2025, the Runaway Bay Seagulls U11 faced Queens Under U11 at Sam Loxton 6. Harrison captained the team. We were put into bat after losing the bat flip. Callum, Rueben and Harry from the U10 team joined us for the match. It was a good day for cricket.
Fletcher and Eshan were the opening pair and scored 14 runs each. Harrison, Ryder and Callum scored 7 runs each. Ziggy, Harry and Reuben contributed 6, 5 and 3 runs respectively. We conceded 40 penalty runs. The outfield was wet during our batting and therefore the ball did not travel much. Our total was 95 runs. Fletcher scored our only boundary.
Our team delivered another impressive bowling performance. Captain Harrison opened the bowling and took a wicket of the very first ball. Every bowler bowled economically, Ziggy, Ryder, Reuben and Fletcher also took a wicket each. Fletcher took an impressive catch at mid off. Eshan got 2 run outs 1 assisted by Harrison and another one a direct throw. The opposition ended up with 144 runs.
Fletcher and Callum were good behind the stumps keeping wicket today.
We lost the match. Fletcher and Eshan shared the POTM award.

We took on Mudgeeraba Blue this week in what turned out to be a challenging but fun Day against a great bunch of kids. Hugo won us the toss and sent Mudgeeraba in to bat. Olive(2/13 off 4 overs) took two quick wickets in her first over , followed by unreal bowling from Hudson (1/13 off 4 overs) and Nash (1/18 off 4 overs) leaving Mudgeeraba at 4/18 before the first drinks break. Lachlan once again had a great time behind the stumps with 3 of the first 4 wickets being caught behind.
Mudgeeraba fought back after drinks finishing at 5/95 after 25 overs. We really missed our Hype guy Harry with energy levels fading and concentration in the field dropping after drinks. A massive shoutout to Lachlan, Hugo and Hudson who all bowled no extras on Day 1.
Archie (10 off 53) and Nash (4/14) opened the batting against some high-performance bowling. The opening boys did their job in seeing through the first 6 overs, settling the team nerves and allowing us to get an idea of the bowling calibre. They defended well with the first wicket coming from an unfortunate run-out.
The Mudgee team had been training hard with the ball focussing purely on hitting a good length. And boy were they hitting the spot!
We had a steady flow of falling wickets grinding our way to 6/57 after the first 25 overs. Hugo (15* off 50) remains at the crease again playing with discipline and resilience to keep us in the game.
A huge thanks to Jackson Wakefield for filling in for us this week. He nabbed us a valuable wicket and remained calm and focussed with the bat against what I think has been the best bowling we have seen all season.

This one’s been penciled in for a while.
We won the toss and sent Broady in to bat. The opening batters did a fantastic job, they settled in a got the run rate moving very quickly.
We continued to work hard in the field. Multiple opportunities were created however they were all very tough. We continued to work and eventually we got the break through.
This was a very important innings for the boys, to endure what the openers had to offer then continue on and get a break through will do their development the world of good.
We started well with the bat but the consistent line and length bowling of Broadbeach got them a couple of quick wickets. Our middle order dug their heals in and did the job that was asked of them.
The day finish Broadbeach 2/163 runaway bay 5/74.
This will give us the chance to back our bowling and fielding this week, bowl to our plan which will create pressure and create opportunities in the field.
Tough challenge ahead but we will set some achievable goals and have a crack next week.
Thanks to everyone for making it happen.

We returned to Loxton 2 this week after a very strong performance against Surfers Blue the week before. Aidan was away for the 1st day of this game so Ollie and Harry followed his trend of losing the toss and we were put in to have a bat.
Radin got off to a good start on his way to 24 from 36 and Callum also looked comfortable early on. After Radin (24 from 36) was out caught, Quaid made the most of his opportunity up the order on his way to 23 from 50 before he was stumped looking to up the run rate. Ollie came in next but it wasn’t his day, nicking off for 12 and Harrison was also dealt some back luck after confusion in the middle led to him being runout for 6.
Whilst there was plenty happening at the other end, Callum remained incredibly focused and disciplined to eventually bring up his first 50 of the season in the 30th over of the day. After a spell in the Div4 side and some very hard work, it was great to see the smile on Callum’s face. He was understandably disappointed when he first learned that he would be missing a few games in Div3, but Callum has handled the challenge exactly how we would have hoped. It’s clear for everyone to see how hard he has worked on all parts of his game and this performance was one that has been incredibly well earned. Well done mate.
Lucy batted at 5 again this week and didn’t waste any time as she got off the mark with a four from her second delivery of the day. Lucy kept the tempo up throughout her innings and eventually raised the bat for the second week in a row with a well-paced 52 from 47 deliveries. Great knock Lucy!
Alex came in at #7 and looked to have as much fun as is humanly possible on a cricket field. Alex finished on 26 from 42 and even threw in a cheeky bat raise after smacking a boundary through is favoured mid-wicket. Mac also played a nice little cameo at the end to finish on 11 from 18 as we posted a huge scored of 4/268.
See you all next week to hopefully round out another great performance.

We arrived early at Sam Loxton 1 on Saturday morning, and the pitch looked in excellent condition. Initially, we were considering batting first, but after discussions with the curators and others, it seemed like it was a good toss to lose. Essentially, this meant that the pitch was expected to offer more for the bowlers early on, so we decided to back our strength and bowl if we won the toss.
Jake won the toss, and we opted to bowl first.
Our bowling started a little erratically, but we eventually got the breakthrough when Jake dismissed one of the openers. Alberton then began to build a solid partnership, but Will struck to leave them at 2/41. This sparked a mini collapse, with Noah picking up a wicket and AJ delivering a brilliant spell of bowling, claiming three wickets with some excellent deliveries. When Hamish C got in on the action, Alberton were reeling at 7/87.
Although we had them on the ropes, we took our foot off the gas, and Alberton started to rebuild their innings. Jake then brought himself and Stevie back into the attack, and within a few overs, they wrapped up the innings. Stevie claimed two wickets, and Lachlan completed a sharp run-out to leave Alberton all out for 124.
With just 20 minutes left in the day, our boys went out to bat. Lachie and Stevie opened the batting and successfully saw out the first five overs, ending on 0/11 at the close of play. The equation for next week is simple: bat sensibly, and we should be able to chase down the target. We need 2.5 runs per over from the remaining 45 overs to secure the win.
Player of the Day: AJ, with a standout performance of 3/16 from 6 overs.
Looking forward to next week’s chase!
