RBCC V Alberton

Under 11s

We had another home game away at cook murphy against Alberton, The captain of the day was Ziggy, the 2 boys done the bat flip Alberton won the flip and asked us to have a Bat, We opened up with Vansh and Zac, both boys beaming with confidence played some lovely shots with Vansh hitting 2 fours and finishing on 14 while Zac faced some fierce bowling from the Alberton attack ending up on 4 Next to the crease bought Arthur and skipper Ziggy these 2 lads kept the strike rate ticking along with Arthur Smashing 3 fours for a great knock of 17 not out and Ziggy playing some really nice shots hitting 10 not out including 1 four, Next in came Reuben and Callum these lads ran really well between the wickets and also finding a few boundaries Reuben ending up on 12 not out and Callum 17 not out, Our next partnership in were Sadie and Harry these 2 communicated really well between the wickets with nice loud calls Sadie finished with 7 and Harry on 3 Alex was last to come in this week and also ran well finishing on 7 not out,

We opened the Bowling with Callum he bowled his 2 overs for a tight 5 runs next in was Ziggy who bowled well bowling his 3 overs for 19 runs, Reuben was next into the attack bowling his 3 overs for 27 runs. Yet to take a wicket the bay was looking around the ground for who to throw the ball to next and Sadie comes in and produces an excellent 2 over spell getting 2 wickets in her first over and finishing with figures of 2 for 8 off her 2 overs. Then the bay was fired up and were wicket hungry This Brings Hazza into bowl Harry bowling an excellent spell taking 2 wickets for 14 off his 3 overs being on his first ever hat trick which he was unlucky to get. Vansh sadly fell ill and could only bowl 1 over for 6 runs. Alex and Zac came in and bowled well Zac bowling 2 overs for 6 runs and Alex 14 off his 2. Fresh out of Wicket keeping brings Arthur into bowl his 2 overs having another great game finished on figures 2 wickets for 8 runs off his.

Our Player of the day went to Sadie a great overall performance from her

Under 13’s Div 2

Our Player of the day went to Sadie a great overall performance from her

This week Runaway Bay Orange took on Mudgeeraba U13s Div 2 Girls in what was a tough, low-scoring affair.

Tough day at the office this week being sent in on a pitch that had water sitting on it. With the blowers running we managed to get the pitch ready for batting. It was always going to be tough.

We flipped the batting order this week, our top order struggled in the conditions, managing to crawl our way to 6/69. Lachlan anchored the innings with a patient 9 not out off 41 balls.

Skipper Maggie showed great determination, finishing on 14 not out off 38 deliveries, helping the team reach a defendable total.

Hudson was the only other batter to reach double digits, retiring not out on 10 off 30 balls.

When it was our turn to bowl we managed to keep the Mudgee Girls  7/98. By then the pitch was drying out and a little less troubling.

The Mudgee girls chased down the target, reaching 7 for 98 off 25 overs (Run Rate 3.92), securing a hard-fought victory by 3 wickets.

Our bowlers fought hard to defend the total, with multiple bowlers sharing the wicket

Maggie - 1 for 8 off 3

Nash  - 1 for 9 off 2

Jai - 1 for 9 off 3 with 2 catches in the field

Jackson 1 for 13 off 3

Hugo  1 for 9 off 3

Hudson 1 for 9 off 3

Our Sportsman Award went to Jackson and player of the match went to Jai for a solid batting performance, tight bowling and taking 2 catches in the field.

🏏 Match Report – Surfers Paradise vs Runaway Bay

In a spirited contest between Surfers Paradise and Runaway Bay, both teams showed grit, skill, and plenty of heart, producing an exciting match that ebbed and flowed right to the finish.

Surfers Paradise Innings

Surfers Paradise’s innings started shakily, losing Freddy Gourlay early with the score on just 9, bowled by A. Joshi. Harrison Finucan followed shortly after at 12, courtesy of B. Harper, leaving Surfers under pressure.

The middle order, however, dug in. Caleb Bradshaw pushed the total to 50 before being bowled by O. Devlin, who was a constant threat with the ball. George Huett steadied things further before falling at 73, caught off the bowling of A. Johnson.

A valuable partnership then lifted the scoring rate. Charlie Gwynne (caught by C. Walsh off O. Devlin) and Nate McDougall kept the innings moving, taking Surfers past 100 and then 126. Ollie jagged another, slowing the momentum.

Late contributions helped Surfers to a competitive total. George Reidy was run out in a sharp piece of fielding by K. Jameson at 146. Harrison Quaas (b. R. Elger) and Toby Wilksch (b. Z. Benson) added small but valuable runs, and the innings closed at 175 when Jack Arnell fell to O.Devlin , with a great diving catch by B. Harper. Everyone played a role and did their best to build pressure through tidy bowling.

Runaway Bay Innings

This is where it got serious, chasing runs is focus for us and an achievable yet decent target was a great way to test ourselves.

Chasing 175, Runaway Bay got away to a cautious start. They lost their first wicket at 18 when Kade Jameson was caught by C. Gwynne off Toby Wilksch, and soon after Cooper Walsh was bowled by F. Ferris with the score on 20.

O. Devlin and Z. Benson also fell inside the first 41 runs, with Arnell and McDougall striking crucial blows to keep Surfers firmly in the contest. Surfers’ bowlers were disciplined early, putting real pressure on the Runaway Bay top order.

But the match turned with a massive partnership that lifted Runaway Bay from 41 all the way to 136. Harry and Josh played a key role until Josh was caught by H. Quaas off McDougall, who was superb and repeatedly broke important stands.

Late in the innings, Runaway Bay kept their nerve. Even as wickets fell—Harry Maywald bowled by G. Reidy at 141, Alfie Joshi removed by McDougall at 143, and Benjamin Harper made a strong stance with Will Walsh until run out by the sharp work of G. Reidy at 165—the chase remained alive. Intelligent batting and steady accumulation helped Runaway Bay inch closer, and the earlier middle-order surge proved the difference in the end. A solid finish from Archie to play some lovely shots to finish the game.

A Great Contest

The match had everything: early wickets, momentum swings, standout spells and some excellent fielding moments. Both sides showed determination and teamwork, making it an entertaining and competitive match. (Chris was definitely the most nervous).

A fantastic effort from all players, and plenty of positives to take into the next match!

Special mention

Harry Maywald took on the challenge of opening! Well done mate!

Awesome 50 from Josh Shultz

All the boys showed the importance of standing up during key moments, doing the little things right and working together.

Great job guys.

Under 13’s Training 17/11/2025

🌟Under 13s Division 1 Special Guests at Training! 🌟

It was a massive week for our Under 13s Division 1 squad, as the boys and girls rocked up to training expecting a normal session with Coach Craig… only to get the surprise of the season! 🎉🏏

Two special guests rolled into Runaway Bay—Jadyn Denly and Corey Flintoff, all the way from Kent County Cricket Club in England! 🇬🇧🔥 These lads brought serious cricket knowledge, plenty of energy, and even more excitement to the team.

Jadyn and Corey jumped straight into drills, offering tips, insights, and encouragement to every player. From bowling tweaks to batting technique to fielding intensity, the kids soaked it all up like sponges. 💡🙌

Best of all, this isn’t a one-off! The boys from Kent will be trying to get around to all teams across the club—players AND coaches—throughout their stay, helping to lift skills, confidence, and club spirit across the board. 🚀💙

A huge thank you to Jadyn and Corey for giving our Under 13s an unforgettable session and for sharing their experience with the Bay family. Absolute legends. 👏👏

Go the Bay! 🟦🟨🏏

Open Turf Div 1

Continuing on our bowling innings from last week, we started by needing to take 10 wickets for 50 odd runs. Started well with Morgan and Toby, really setting the tone and making the Mudgee batters work for their runs. Following up with Steve and Hamish, they also kept it tight, Hamish picking up a wicket just before Mudgee passing our score. After that the batters played well, finishing their innings 2-204 after 50.

Unlocking FrogBox Highlights with PlayHQ and LillyPad

This season, the Runaway Bay Cricket Club is excited to bring more of our cricket to life through FrogBox live streaming and highlight packages. We’ll be aiming to stream as many games as possible across Premier Cricket, Veterans, Juniors, and Women’s cricket, showcasing the talent and spirit of our club to family, friends, and supporters everywhere.

To make the most of this technology, we need the help of our scorers. The key lies in how we use PlayHQ alongside FrogBox’s highlight program, LillyPad. Here’s how it works: When live scoring in PlayHQ, you’ll notice a button on the screen labelled “Bowler Running In”*. This button should be pressed just before—or right as—the bowler begins their approach. Doing this triggers the recording of that particular ball, ensuring any exciting moment (like a wicket, a six, or a boundary) is captured for our highlight reel. By consistently pressing this button, our scorers help create accurate and exciting highlight packages that not only celebrate individual performances but also promote our teams and club culture. With everyone’s contribution, we can build a library of memorable moments that players and supporters will be able to watch back and enjoy for years to come. Let’s work together to make this season one to remember—both on and off the field.
