What a cracking start to the season! Some great results from our future stars of the game! 🔥

🏏 Under 12’s Orange
The U12’s Orange team kicked off the season with an exciting and enjoyable Day 1 match against Helensvale Gold.
Captain Archie won the toss and confidently chose to field first. The energy in the field was palpable, with the team staying tight and focused. Harry’s smooth, fast bowling got us the first breakthrough, followed by fantastic efforts from Maggie (1/6), Hugo (1/7), Archie (2/11), and Olive (1/11), leaving Helensvale at 6/66 after their 25 overs.
A special shoutout goes to newcomer Lachlan McQueen, who, in his debut cricket season, achieved the best bowling economy rate of the day—an outstanding accomplishment!
First-game nerves were high as the team prepared to bat, but Archie’s composed 17 off 39 balls, combined with Nash’s gritty 8 off 37, frustrated the opposition with their disciplined shot selection and smart running between wickets.
We had the usual positive support from the parents and look forward to the final day of play next week.

Awesome start to the season!
Reminder - Take jumpers when you play on Tamborine. It was snowing!
Our opening batters did a great job! They steadied themselves sticking to the plan seeing out a good amount of overs. This continued through our batting with some quality shots and strong calling/running between the wickets. Well done boys.
In the field the boys were up and about early (even in the arctic conditions). We minimised extras with consistent bowling, keeping and fielding. I think we were 8 extras for the innings, which is fantastic.
All up it was a great first start to the season with a fun game played in good spirit by both teams.
Bring on next week.

After shuffling the pack to ensure we were able to get a team on the park, we travelled to Elanora to take on a much bigger, older Burleigh side.
After losing the toss, Captain Lucas opened the batting with Aaryan and the boys got us off to a solid start before Aaryan was out, caught at point. Ruby came in at 3 and steadied the ship before Nikita (playing in his first ever game) kept out the straight ones and went hard at anything wide, hitting is first four!
Lucas was unbelievably calm and was eventually dismissed for 40 after a great knock anchoring our innings. Joshy and Fletcher batted out the day and we finished on 4-101 with some serious batting still to come next week.
Burleigh sent their big hitter out to open the batting, and whilst our plans were perfect, our execution was a bit rusty and we gave him 5-6 lives before Charlie got the break through.
With time management being a huge factor this year, we relied heavily on accuracy over pace and Adam, Ruby, Mikel and Josh were incredibly accurate with the ball. All the kids were exceptional in getting through the overs and into position quickly which will be a great habit to maintain throughout the year.
After Burleigh’s rapid start, we did incredibly well to restrict them to 4-78 and have every chanced of kicking off the season with a win next weekend.
Special mention to Lincoln, Fletcher and Charlie who stepped up to ensure we had the numbers to field a team.
Thanks to all the parents who chipped in this week, it was a great team effort.

Today we rocked up to Hession Oval to find changerooms (which was cool) and a very green pitch. We decided we were going to bowl if we won the toss, just to settle some nerves and have a go at them early on. Unfortunately, though, I continued my streak of losing the toss, so we got sent into bat!
Lucy and I opened and got us off to a pretty good start. They had 2 pretty good opening bowlers, so we just saw them out and kept getting the odd single or two. The outfield was quite slow, and it was our first game on a proper field, so fours were hard to come by. Then some of their part timers started to come on and Lucy smacked the first four of the season, beating the square leg fielder. A few balls later, I got bowled and our partnership ended on 60. Harry then came in and started to get himself in. Lucy fell not to long after for 34 (53). Well batted Lucy! Ollie then came in with Harry and both did a really good job of stabilizing the innings. Ollie was smoking some straight drives which was awesome to see but unfortunately their fielding was quite good, and the shots didn’t get the runs they deserved. Ollie then fell for 8 (39) to a good catch at cover. Good job Ollie. Callum came in and stayed with Harry for a while. Harry started hitting some dingers, but then got extremely unlucky, nailing a pull shot off a full toss straight to square leg. Harry finished up on 26 (58). Great job Haz. Callum and Dini created a little partnership to keep the innings going. Callum got retired and Mac came in to up the run rate a little. Mac started straight away hitting a really nice flick shot into the gap for a single but unluckily, he got bowled not to long after for 2(4). Quaid then came in and got himself in. Dini then fell for 13 (31) but did a really good job to keep the innings stabilized while hitting some important runs. Catey came in but got bowled within 2 balls, and Alex got 1(6). Quaid finished on 4 (16) not out.
Overall, we finished on 149 all out from 49 overs. I believe this score is defendable, but we must bowl and field well though. This is also a very good performance, considering it was our first game on turf for some of us. Thanks to James for coaching us and umpiring at square leg and to Kristen for the snacks!

Game 1 , day 1 of the 2024/25 season for the under 17’s turf Div 2 side against Bonogin on a beautifully prepared Sam Loxton 1.
We opened the bowling with the usual suspects Stevie and Jake.
Stevie struck early and Bonogin were 1/12. Two more fell in quick succession from Will and Toby and they are soon 3/57. At this point the match changed the Bonogin boys and girls dug in put on a 74 run partnership until Noah broke through. We co sisterly took wickets throughout the day but could not get their star batsman who score 100 before retiring. At one stage we were looking at potentially chasing a score of 250, but the boys rallied and bowled well with Noah and Hamish C wrapping up the tail for a team Hat-trick in 3 consecutive balls. Bonogin finished on all out for 203 off 47.2 overs.
Bowling figures
Noah McQueen 3/21 off 6
Hamish Canning 2/35 off 6.2
Steve Watson 1/19 off 8
Jake Schultz 1/35 off 8
Toby Hudson 1/17 off 7
Will Altass 1/34 off 4
